Just try these steps, I was able to do that yesterday Unbelievable!
+ you need to be at the rear entry of the No-Tell Motel, right after the Heist
+ your task is to go to room 204
+ instead of this, summon your car, when you exit from the Delamain car
+ my car had appeared near the Delamain car, honking
+ then I drove few meters to the fence
+ then, I jumped at the car and on the fence
+ and then voila - I was free!!!!

It was possible to freely roam from there.

Have fun - maybe it is possible to kill Dex somehow with the sniper rifle?

I'm gonna have to try this, and make sure I have a sniper rifle in the trunk stash. Just had to restart the game because my ps4 hard drive died and I'd not uploaded my saves! Nice to have something to look forward to

The mirror thing has absolutely nothing to do with Dex, so it wouldn't affect the scenario. It's an option to let V vent their frustrations on an inanimate object. People often opt to punch a wall or some other object instead of the person/thing that's annoying them. This is simply an option to let V take out his aggression for a moment after the job went to shit.
