Article "How to get every game on STEAM for free from Developers!" Please read!

Please read this article found on Gamasutra! In general, Polish? developer wrote that a lot of people sends a emails claiming to be avarage gaming channel Youtuber asking for free keys from developers spamming the inbox... and it works? I hope CDPR after reading this article will be carful and verify who are they sending preview keys.

This is absolutely pathetic what people do just to make few $ on the side. How long this has been going for ..who knows maybe even years!?

Yes this is something that's been happening for years, thankfully most devs/publishers don't just hand out a key to everyone.

Devolver Digital for example has a lot of fun with people who do this. Asking for their left kidney in return etc :p

If you look at comment section almost every developer has experienced it. 400 keys x 20$ = 8000$ developer will never see.

@sidspyker dude could you move this thread to Community section, dunno why this happens and thread is creating in wrong place. Or maybe I am too tired. Thank you.

It got moved from the community section to the appropriate section.

First off I wouldn't trust what Gamasutra has to say these days at all. Especially with regards to Youtubers since they are cutting into their bottom line.

Secondly, as a Youtuber, you don't get keys that easily with most developers....if you get keys at all! Those games he got are indie games, so some small guys making games didn't know to handle this. I personally have never gotten a key for any game, not that I ever bothered with it.

Thirdly: If it's so easy for a Youtuber to get a key, then wouldn't be just as easy for a gaming blogger or "journalist" to do it as well?

I think Valve promised their own games for free to Debian Developers (since Valve's SteamOS is based on Debian). So if you want some - join the Debian project ;)

what's the problem, developer can check the one who asks for key, freelance streamers & gamers are much better pr than gaming journalists. gaming sites like gamasutra are so rotten most of the gamers don't care what they write.
