Cyberpunk 2077 sequels/possible prequel ideas

EDIT: Apparently this was inaccurate due to a poor translation from Polish to English. Either way, it's still fun to postulate where CD Projekt Red might go with future games in the cyberpunk universe.

Just found this article where it's been confirmed that CD Projekt Red is already working on two other games in the Cyberpunk universe.

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2019-07-02-cd-projekt-red-working-on-three-cyberpunk-universe-games

Where do you think they're going to go with these two other games and where would you like for them to go?

None of us have even played 2077 yet so there's obviously no point in speculating "improvements" so don't worry about that aspect of a prequel/sequel.

I feel like making a video game adaptation for 2020 and RED would be dope but that would also be a very curious decision to develop a series backwards... I'm also uncertain they're willing to receive the backlash of not being as in depth as the tabletop if it's adapted as a video game.

They'll improve the game.
Making it more close to the pnp as they get more confortable with it (one could hope so).
Or just make another "story" in Night City.
I hope V will be a one shot and other games will focus on other stories/cities, etc

Just keep in mind there was an update to the original article with a clarification since the original was based on a bad translation from Polish to English. CDPR clarified:

"We currently have a total of five teams working on a number of projects, with three focusing on the development of Cyberpunk 2077. These include CD Projekt Red Warsaw and Kraków, who are handling the main game, as well as the Wrocław studio, where around 40 industry specialists are engaged in technology R&D. A separate, dedicated team at the Warsaw studio is handling the development of Gwent. The final team is Spokko, which is currently working on a yet unannounced mobile project."

I would personally love to play through Silverhand and Alt's story honestly. It'd be way more linear but I think it could be really awesome and I would love to see it come to life right before my eyes.

Hell. Actually. Maybe it could remain non linear, and simply place us and our character in the spot of Kerry Eurodyne and form our own pathway and political stances or whichever and influence the outcome maybe... Lots of possibility and different areas in time we could be place though so who knows.

I do feel like instead of being in different times within Night City, it'll take us to different cities around the same time frame. Either continuing V's legacy, or starting off as an entirely different character and story that V's actions in 2077 have had a direct influence on. Like he'll be a legend and you'll hear of him. Just like Silverhand and rockerboy etc. The other cities being Melbourne or the Orbital one I forget the name of, or in Europe.

I'd like to see what other cities are like during that time. I'd hope they wouldn't just stick with Night City again, personally. It might not be bad coming back to it after a few games between (ala GTA) to see the time passed but back to back same city games often get boring to me

Well, I guess having a 2020 game AFTER could make sense..
This one will make us interested into Johnny Silverhand.

Didn't they said "Since it has Keanu Reeve, a Cyberpunk™ movie is possible"?
Could totaly be released with a 2020's game.

Heck, maybe the " new matrix movie" (warner involved) could be a codename for it...

It has everything, a romeo & juliet love story, action, Johnny saving the world as he sacrifice himself to blow Arasaka's tower...

We know Mike has global vision for the world, so they might do another City. Thats what most if not all companies do. Would be fun to see even once instead of making new city after new city, they improved the current one.

To address this question directly ... I actually would like it if any sequels stayed in Night City. I think lots of game developers overvalue new locations rather than further exploring the locations they already have. One of my favorite things in the Mass Effect series is that while there are some new places, we also get to return to places we've been before like the Citadel, Horizon, Tuchunka, Omega, and etc. Of course there would ideally be new locations as well (preferably both new locations further outside the city as well as new levels within the City itself), but experiencing a place as it evolves is sometimes just as interesting as getting a new place to explore.

Prequel? Sequel? They have the core ready. Thay can build on it. make a proper sequel set a aouple of years in the future. I generally hate prequels. They don't really offer ANY freedom of choice, save the illusionary one. Whatever you do is meaningless. And Silverhand/Cuningham story? Ugh... We finally have a proper RPG with character creation and development just to be forced to play forced characters? Better built on 2077 and upgrade character creation to get more freedom with that without sacrificing the story. Also, Silverhand?cun story won't offer much of a choices as it is set in stone. Better to leave CP2020 to the history, let the Red evolve as a exclusive PnP and focus on 2077 and beyond. As for other locations. Night City is a character in PnP, however setting next full game in it would be strange, because it would have to be either the same Night City (and we just had it in 2077) or a new one, built from scratch (which is stupid). Other locations are not that fleshed out in PnP. It would be a work from the scratch, but, hell. New York in cyberpunk is an interesting place (nuked with a real tac nuke, not a minium yeld device), Paris or London (which have been supposedly ortbital rocked during the IV corp war). Or Far East places like Hong Kong or Tokyo. South America? Rio, Sao Paulo also sounds nice. I really hope that they won't send us to space. Space is cool, but not that much cyberpunk, and it may remind me of Elysium, which was bad.

Would still be better than using Matrix's main character to milk cash on Keanu's /Cyberpunk's fame.

Neo's story has been told, retold and buried.
Even the two sequels were just made because Warner pressed them ($$$).
I'd rather have a new Matrix movie with different characters, a prequel (like the stories in Animatrix) rather than a... What's left to tell anyway?
A reboot?
A sequel to a bunch of sequels who shouldn't exists to begin with? Lol
* Yawnnn *

They made way too much money with it to be that unimaginative.

Not that I hate Matrix or Neo, but fan service without depth is one of the biggest cancer in recent time (Alien/ Star Wars/ etc...).
Also, Watchowsky movies after Matrix weren't that good, I don't trust them to deliver a good sequel. I'd rather have a Cyberpunk movie :/

Oh and CDPR doesn't need much Mike's help now, Cyberpunk Red will be there, you have already some add on (Europe / Home of the brave) who describes every countries / states and big american city, so they basicaly do whatever they want storywise if Mike release an update to those, maybe just for some basic counselling, but there is way enought material to explore the world beyond Night City (also, waiting 5years for another game in the exact same city... better to either flesh 2020 out or just explore another place.

I just cant see Cyberpunk movie happening before they know how much this game sells. All we know this game might flop, sure they are doing decent job at getting presales in, at least from Steam. Think I read somewhere they aim to get 20 mill in first second quarter after release.

Hey,
maybe it could be nice to step out of the line a bit.

For example:
- braindance difficulty mode, where your character gets in the psychotic state from time to time. You would often see some colourful hippie "lags", unicorns, the camera turned upside down...and stuff. Completing such mode would unlock an achievement "Who let the dog out?"

- fill in on some concert, because the singer is late or whatever. V would sing one of Johny's songs. He would stand next to V as a hologram and comment on that or pre-sing the lyrics. Fun for the whole family!

- when you make many of the "bad" choices throughout the game, when everyone dear to V dies, etc... you would get the achievement "The Last Samurai"
