[Discussion] Why is the expansion called Phantom Liberty?

+
Hey,
As the title states - why do you think the expansion is called Phantom Liberty?

I am curious about if players can agree on a single reason :)

I'm pretty certain it's a thinly veiled reference to Metal Gear Solid, it being a stealth espionage and the obvious connections that the game has to Kojima and his work.

I'm sure you could come up with some narrative connection, but frankly I don't think the writers did so so I'm not going to bother myself.

I'm just taking this one at face value; phantom liberty = the spectre of freedom, the illusion of being free from the control of outside entities.
Yea I'm pretty sure it's just a play on "Phantom Limb"....A spectre of something that used to be. Liberty is alluding to the more political undertones of the expansion and the New USA...Freedom and liberty and all that.

Or a deeper philosophical statement that liberty is a phantom, an illusion. There will always be someone pulling the strings, from a local bully to a government looking after the friends who got them there and paying back favours.
