is there ANYTHING that helps with driving?

im trying to finish the quests with claire and i am just suffering through it. im on pc using a controller, and the sharp turns are just absolutely KILLING me. ive tried mods but they just dont help. and using different cars dont help either, im just swerving everywhere and hitting the sides and getting rammed/passed and its stressing me out. i love claire and i want to finish her quests! this is ruining the gameplay for me, no matter how many times i try it just doesnt get any easier
Is it the racing missions? How are you struggling with those this game has the most prominent rubber banding mechanic I've seen. Just stop at the turns and take them as slow as you want, all the others will slow down for you.

motorcycles are incredibly easy to use. if there's a sharp turn or you need to avoid an obstacle, press s (down). otherwise press shift (gas), a(left), d(right). i have a controller but i don't even bother to use it when i'm driving a motorcyle.
S is the key to front brakes, use the rear brake (handbrake key) for bikes.

Braking is the worst thing in driving in that game, seconded by the collision engine.

I never understood why some open world games make driving a pain in the ass. Has anyone EVER complained about a videogame having cars that are too easy to drive? I don't care if it's unrealistic how effortlessly I'm speeding around corners. It's a videogame - there's a hell of a lot of things my character is unrealistically good at. Why stop at driving???
The game is actually hard to drive because of their controlsand their lack of physical laws there. "Realistic" (GT, Forza or even better sims), "Semirealistic" (Forza Horizon) or "Arcade games" are actually easier to drive. Errors are too easy to input and too punishing in CP to call the driving an "arcade driver". Mods tends to slow inputs but still the physical engine still gives bad feedbacks (but on some rare cars : I think that Quadra you get for free was more heavily tested than the others, and received all love of their tests. The problem is you get it randomly early or very late).

Not enough QA there (I think we are the QA, and maybe modders if they open their game and drop support).

I hope we will have some concrete news soon, because the vacation cut is a little stressfull with the state of the game. People are posting lots of good stuff that I fear that will never be read by CDPR, and then they may loose interest and switch to the next AAA.

I didn't realize how much people are struggling with the driving. It took me like an hour of playing to get it down, big thing is tapping the brake when you go into corners so your car wont spin out. Obviously every car is different but for the most part this works with everything i've had. Also bikes

Get mods, Nexus has a few that improves handling of vehicles. Although, that is for PC only... console players will have to suffer the poor handling of most vehicles. Tip, get a Javelina or Coyote... those have good handling without mods.

Also completed every race first place, aside from the last one, for story reasons. Not that hard. Just slow down abit before sharp turns then drift if needed. Or, you could get the Javelina with the best handling in the game... that car turns on a dime without sliding around like its on ice.
No one should need mods to beat these races. They're unbelievably easy. The only time I got close to losing one is when the game glitched and teleported a few people in front of me. The game practically wins the race for you with the rubber banding no car will get further than 30 meters away from you.

Yes, the races are easy, but the feedback of that engine is pretty terrible. I'm used to cars from Forza / Forza Horizon, Gran Turismo, GTA 3, GTA 4, GTA 5 (which are 2 different drivings) or Mafia, and all these cars use 4 wheels physics, even arcadish gameplay for GTA3.

Previously I though there was only one wheel and no supension in CP but the thing is all cars feels like 2 wheel motorcycles. In dirt, bikes are jetskis (= 1 "wheel").
All cited games, including Mafia from the 2000's plays better.

Weigths are very strange : 4 tons a car is strange. This should be twice the weigth of a "kamyonet' " :)

@headache247 try to find Quadra TurboR V-Tech for free using a giude on youtube. Its handling is ok-ish, and it's gorgeous. Topspeed revs are strange but whatever...

Motorcycles are generally easier to drive. The biggest problem I see with cars is that it seems like their turning radius is based on the exact center of the car. It's almost like someone has stuck a pin in it.

What we need, especially for the KBM drivers, is a way for us to fine tune vehicle handling. Most of those mods address things like acceleration, but nothing seems to be able to handle the abysmal turning and aggressive overcorrecting we encounter when trying to recover from the turns. The fast you're going, the more pronounced the issue becomes.

It really sucks, because we have several good 'performance' type vehicles, but can't get anywhere near their potential in the game.
this exactly

git gud

Honestly don't get the driving complaints, and I'm playing this on Keyboard and Mouse
Try Forza Horizon or Forza 7 (it's in MS' gamepass on PC). In these game you can choose precisly what is your trajectory +/-10cm (with training) or +/-50cm (without training).
In CP, trying that translates with your car in the wall or worse.

This is why I don't drive motorcycles. If you are still walking the bike, there is no reason why you need to make a 40m u-turn going forward.

The radar should really dezoom when you drives. We're driving at 100km/h with 30m fields of view.
This is 1 second to anticipate turns, providing we have eyes on the radar at any moment. This isn't GTA 1 !

Try taking a turn at 180 mph and tell me how that turns out for ya?

As much as the lot of you want to shit on CDPR for everything about this game, the driving isn't all that bad and actually is fairly realistic for a non simulator. Slow down when you want to turn. It's not all that difficult

Seems pretty elementary, right?

Agree, driving in this game is fine, if you are spinning on corners then you are taking them too fast.

Oh and use the free Caliburn or the Avenger...best handling cars in game

Caliburn is my distance straight road driver (speed), Avenger is my city driver (highly aggressive, but controlled drift), and Cyote for Nomad shortcuts.

i completely give up, im on the third race and ive tried like 20 times. im tempted to send someone my save just because im so tired of trying. i hit a corner and BAM, im completely stopped and in last place

I feel your pain. I'm driving with the mouse and keyboard. Trust me, that's pain you don't want to know, lol.

However, that being said, I did finish all the races with the keyboard. The biggest mistake you have to try to avoid (and I do this so often I swear at myself) is OVER steer. Once you start that, you're just fishtailing all over the goddamn place. Slight, subtle adjustments are the key. Also, what an earlier post said about braking into the turn and accelerating out is good advice. This doesn't have to be fast. In fact, if you can make a slow, sharp turn, you'll often come out ahead of the AI drivers. As for braking, get a feel for what works for you by practicing. You can either do the decelerate brake, or the e-brake slide. Both work, it's just a matter of what works better for you. Lastly, the race is actually geared to give you a chance. Unless you royally screw up and go flying off into Never Never land (I've done this a few times), you can always catch up to the pack, as they screw each other over as much as they try to screw you over. Don't give up! Just keep at it.

Give yourself a break for awhile, then come back to it after you've done some other stuff. That will help you a lot. The race isn't going anywhere, so take your time. :)

Come on, the whole press here said driving in that videogame came from 1995. ôO

I find walls and barriers help go round corners, unless im on a bike then i just superman it ;)
Totally normal gamedesign, rigth ?

I think I found another thing, a source of a bug.

On some very low cars, like that Quadra, by standing next it, from the front (corner front, actually), you can walk on it, like if V was climbing a sidewalk.

I wonder if that's the reason that your car tend to pass under others.
