OpenAI solved NPC AI driving in video games half a decade ago and open-sourced it....

My understanding is that CDPR received 7 million from EU/Poland gov to develop next-gen AI in games, specifically CyberPunk 2077...

It also seems the NPC driving AI in CyberPunk is severely lacking to the point of nonexistence, indeed NPC cars are basically on a static linear 'rails' system... which in terms of "AI" is behind even that of GTAIII from decades ago...

But Elon Musk (CEO of Telsa) has a nonprofit called OpenAI foundation that released the trained neural network and open sourced the code for TRUE AI driving in videogames (here as showcased in GTAV) almost half a decade ago....

So whats CDPR's excuse after getting 7 million dollars to work on AI, it couldn't even implement a basic driving car AI that had been in GTA games for three decades much less improve upon it with work that had already been open sourced half a decade ago?!

That's an AI that develops a driving model for the players car, not the GTA V npc's, which I guarantee you also utilize mundane pathfinding to operate. Cars in this world aren't persistent objects, they are loaded and unloaded dynamically to create the illusion that the world is populated. Where GTA V differs is that there are different conditions these cars can be generated in resulting in interesting interactions when they are let loose, like car accidents, cop chases, ect.

It may be that the AI is unfinished. Just because they got some cash and it isn't in the game, doesn't mean they didn't invest the cash on the correct project. It could get implemented once it's done.
