Optimal configuration?

Hello.

Yesterday I installed The Witcher 2 EE (the backup version from Gog.com, was too lazy to rummage in my closet for the DVD ^^) and I get really laggy gameplay, especially the movement and fighting.

Can someone tell me a configuration that my system will run smoothly? Thanks in advance :)

you're video card is weak that's the problem and at 1080p even my 6870 can't handle this game in 1080p at ultra settings

lower your resolution to 720p an play in ultra low settings

I did lower the game's resolution to 1280x1024 with a 5:4 aspect ratio beforehand and experimented with the advanced options. Nothing helped so far though

Hello Glennen,

Welcome to the Forums, I to went through my issues with the GOG version of this game, just wondering....Did you allow the game to choose your settings based on your system?

I did this and then lowered the settings and then bumped them up a little at a time tell I got a balanced set I was happy with.

All though I am a ATI user HD7870, if I am not mistaken Nvidia has a tweak guide for TW2. I know it is easy to get discouraged but don't give up on this as there are a very good group of people here that I am sure you'll hear from Shortly. This whole series TW1 and TW2 thus far have been great so hang tight and I am confident you'll get a response from those that can't help you more fully.

Cheers!

When I let the game autodetect the best properties, if sets them to High Spec. As I said, I tweaked around a bit already, like setting the Texture Buffer to Large and Very Large (since I have 4 GB VRAM). Nothing came out of it so far. Will check out the NVIDIA guide though.

No way high specs will work with the 630 . Instead try lowering the specs to low as a starting point and screen resolution at 1280 x 720 and windowed .

It may not be possible to get satisfactory performance out of a GT 630 at any setting. There just aren't enough hamsters turning the wheels (it has 4 ROPs, but stated minimum cards have 16, and practical minimum cards have 8 ).

The autodetect works poorly with slow large-memory cards. The approach Tommy outlined is the one that works more often than any other.
