Severe framerate drops over time.

+
So i started DLC and after 1h of playing my fps drops to 30 from 55... Game started to be choppy... I played on 2.0 basic game more than 2 h without issue... But in PL dogtown every 1h the same... Game restarting helps but it is nothing i like... I use RT and DLSSQ with rtx 3080 and 32 Gb RAM... Why in PL looks like mamoery leak but basic game is working fine... Anyone else notice this? Any solution?

You are not on a Laptop are you? If you are make sure your GPU doesn't hit the Thermal limit and starts downclocking.
Knowing what CPU you have and how is loaded might also be useful.

Hi, I'm on desktop. My cpu is 9700k (oc to 5.0ghz). I have custom curve on my gpu, never rich 65C and stable 1920mhz core, never hit power limit and never downclock. I don't expirience this in any other games that also have RT... On our local forum some other ppl notice same baheve but we do not have solution for now.

That is good to know. Thanks! I did not get to PL yet (I know, I know new game lots of gigs to do until there :)) )

However, it is good to know that is not related to other external factors outside the game! So.. now when I get to PL and play it I will look how it performs on my laptop after 1h of gameplay ;)

Hey everyone,

Just starting a thread to see if people are suffering from the same performance loss in 2.1 as I am.
Pre 2.1, I would be able to get 100+ FPS stable on the Ultra preset without DLSS & DLSS Frame Generation at 1080p.
I am now getting a horrible, unstable 45-70 FPS no matter what presets or settings I pick.
Enabling DLSS Frame Generation is the only thing that "fixes" this, but that's beyond the point and merely a band-aid.

I have tested this issue and confirmed it on both my PC and my partners laptop.
I am running an RTX 4070, an R5 5600 and 16GB DDR4 3200CL16.
My partner is running an RTX 3060M, an R5 5600H and 16GB DDR4 3200CL16.

This game should be performing alot better, and the presets should definitely NOT be giving me the same FPS.
I have tried clean installing Windows 11 23H2, clean installing my NVIDIA drivers after using DDU, and reinstalling
my chipset drivers. I have the game on an NVMe SSD, I only have SSDs in my PC as my boot drive is also one.

If anyone else is having these issues, I'd like to know just so I know I'm not going crazy.
It would also be a good idea to boost this so CDPR can swiftly fix it.

EDIT: Completely closing Steam and running the game through the executable seems to somehow mostly solve the performance issues.
I am suspecting that it's either something to do with SteamWebHelper.exe or the overlay. I will test it without the overlay on.

EDIT #2: I can now confirm that turning off the Steam Overlay mostly fixes the games performance. I went from having 45-70 FPS
to a WHOPPING 75-130 FPS. If you are having performance issues, I would GREATLY recommend disabling the overlay.
The game DOES have performance issues still, but nowhere near as bad for me at least after doing this.

If you can, please send this in as a ticket to CDPR Support. That's a...lot...of FPS loss for an overlay.

Hello!
I'm currently experiencing an issue where, after some time (completely random), my framerate has a significant drop. The FPS gradually decreases.
To resolve this problem, I have to restart the game.
My configuration is: R9 5900X, RTX 4080 FE, 32GB RAM, and Samsung 980 PRO 1TB. I am using the latest Nvidia drivers (551.61) and Windows 11.
In-game preset : Overdrive.

I haven't encountered this issue before; everything worked fine. Could it be related to the drivers?

I just bought this game and was excited to play, and when I have had the opportunity to play, I can say I am enjoying it, but this issue that I am having is game breaking and I have no idea how to fix it. I know from looking up this issue others are having it as well, but hoping anyone out there knows of what to do, or even what this is.

I loaded the Steam version game and happily played for 28 hours before experiencing this bug the first time. I was playing with RT on with adjusted settings and was getting anywhere from 57 to 74 frames. Then suddenly mid game at about 28 hours of play, I ended up with massive stuttering, frame dropping and sound interference. I tried loading another save, turning off the game, restarting, checked file integrity, and nothing worked to fix the issue. I scoured forums to change different graphical settings, sound settings, and absolutely nothing worked. I then uninstalled the game, reinstalled, started up a new game, and still had the issue. I tried to lower all settings to low or off, and weirdly it did not change the issue was still getting an extremely low FPS, like mt settings did not matter at all.

I uninstalled the game again, after manually deleting any and all Cyberpunk files I could locate on my PC after uninstall and restarted another game. This time it worked. I tweaked the game further and turned RT completely off, adjusted some settings and was getting 77 to 103 frames in game. Again, I played the game perfectly, no stutters, no issue, no crashing, and then again at about 30 hours of play, massive frame drops, stuttering, sound glitches mid play. This issue has happened twice now while in combat (not sure if this makes a difference).

When this happens I get anywhere from 1 to 25 frames on average, with erratic frame jumps up to 58 or so. I even get very low frame rates in the very start the as the Cyberpunk Logo splashes the screen. The game is not even on and the splash screen is stuttering. As the game is loading it experiences stutters as well and the frame rate is highly erratic going anywhere from 120 to 1 FPS. I also seem to have much longer loading times that include the time from starting from Steam and getting the CD Project launcher. I will then press play on the launcher and get a minute or two of nothing (have to check that Steam actually says the game is running as nothing shows in the drop tray), then I get a black screen for a few moments, and then the game will start to load, but takes much longer than expected.

I try using a different save, I tried to fully restart the game, I left the game off for several hours and restarted, I tried to leave it on to see if it is a shader loading issue. I tried changing the DLSS settings from auto to quality, or quality to auto (as suggested in another post), but absolutely nothing fixes this.

The second time I loaded the game I was running MSI Afterburner the whole time and was not noticing any unusual loads on the CPU or GPU and temps were warm (73 to 77), but definitely within reasonable parameters. I however did not notice what was happening the to CPU and GPU when the issue occurred again for the second time. I cannot figure this issue out, but it is so game breaking, you honestly cannot play, it is way to choppy and erratic. This has never happened to me on any other game before. I was playing a graphically modded Fallout 4 game before this and had no issues. I ran a Superposition Benchmark and got decent scores for my card.

I am running a EVGA RTX3080 (12GB of Ram) with an i7-10700K processor (8 cores, 16 threads).

Anyone know what this is, or if this is also happening to you?

I discovered the problem, enable SR IOV SUPPORT, AND DATA LINK FEATURE EXCHANGE IN BIOS, THE PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED

Hi All,
Hoping someone can help solve this. Trying to play The Witcher 3 Next Gen on PC and I constantly get these massive frame rate drops as can be seen in this video. The game will run at like 60FPS for a few minutes and then drop to like 10-15 FPS.
So far I haven't been able to find a way to fix it. I'm running the game on a system with a 4070 Ti and 5900X so I should be able to run the game decently. I've tried enabling and disabling Ray Tracing. DLSS and Frame Gen are both on. Graphics settings set just to High.
Here's a list of mods I have installed if it helps. I have no idea if it could be one of them causing the issue?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I had framerate drops since the latest update only when recording. Never happened before so there are multiple factors at play.

I've given up on troubleshooting the causes.

But resetting the GPU (Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B) in-game seem to make the frame freezes so away for a short while.

So I bind a macro to reset the GPU whenever I feel the framerate begins to stutter or freeze.

OMEGALUL, the shortcut resets the GPU driver, nothing else.

i have noticed this "issue" as well but it's more because of the fact that some areas are more CPU demanding than others.
my 13900, 4090 goes from 130 to 70 in a steady slope on my RTSS graph, also in Dogtown. Returning to the same area has the fps "return"

The descriptions of these issues sound more like the data cached in RAM and/or VRAM is reaching a limit. Mods, of course, can put a game in this position, while vanilla might work fine.

The game will run at like 60FPS for a few minutes and then drop to like 10-15 FPS.
For this, while it's most likely a result of mods, does the FPS immediately drop to 12-15, or does performance slowly degrade down to that point? If the former, then it's likely that the mods are introducing calculations that the either the game's runtime environment or the system itself does not have resources for. If the latter, then it's likely that there's a conflict in the scripts that are running failing to execute or terminate properly, resulting in the slow loss of performance over time.

Also, keep in mind, the issue may lie in a combination of mods, rather than one singular mod.

Are you also using mods, or have you ever used any in the past?

This sounds more like the latter issue, but if it happens in 100% vanilla (meaning a playthrough that has never been modded at any point), then it's possible that there's a situation that's eating up resources. Could be a quest script that's creating instances of itself over and over, or something trying to load that can't for some reason.

That can still happen because of mods, but the studio can't support mods and mod libraries.

Another possibility is other programs running that are taking focus away from the game, like the mentioned recording/streaming software. It could be anything else that may run on the PC during play, though: updates, cleaning or optimization software, even things like phones or cameras that may be connecting to the PC to do their thing (which may be happening wirelessly.)
