Terrible Stuttering Making Game Unplayable
Hi all,
I just downloaded The Witcher 3 as it was on sale and I've been looking forward to playing it for awhile.
However, I have a horrible stutter/microstutter problem where the game will hitch just about every second.
I have tried numerous suggested fixes including:
- Under Nvidia CP (under the witcher3.exe game-specific settings) set:
1.) Frames to render ahead = 1
2.) Negative LOD bias = Clamp
3.) V-sync = Controlled by the 3D application
4.) Texture filtering = either Quality or High Quality (If it's already set to one, switch to the other.)
5.) Also feel free to set Anisotropic Filtering to 16x / enhance the 3D application. (Great little tweak for no performance cost.)
- Forcing PhysX to CPU
- Adding the following line to gc.ini:
; Upper limit for amount of memory used by the objects that will automatically trigger the GC
ObjectMemoryTrigger = 512
- Setting LimitFPS to 58 in user.settings
- Changing TextureMemoryBuffer to 2048 (half my VRAM)
None of these suggestions have fixed the problem, and the stutter gives me a headache trying to play the game.
My PC specs are as follows:
Intel i5-2500k
ASUS P8Z77-V LK motherboard
16GB Crucial DDR3 RAM
EVGA Geforce GTX 970
Corsair CX750M PSU
Samsung 850 Evo SSD
Windows 7 64-bit
Please, if anyone could help, that would be great. I really want to play this game!
