The release of this game wasn't really that exceptional

I've seen so many people talk about the missing Casino & Club area being some kind of radical cut content that no other respectful game developer has ever done.

But I wonder if anyone remember who is this guy?

"According to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, Artorias of the Abyss was originally conceived during the development of Dark Souls, and was planned to be part of the main game but was scrapped early on, with the development team saying "there's no way we can do that!".

To anyone who isn't aware: Oolacile, the world leading into the fight Artorias is DLC content, first released in Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition, on August 24 2012, Dark Souls got released in September 22 2011. That's almost entire year after release when gamers were given access to a content that was planned, art work created and shared, which was taken into later stage of the game's lifecycle.

People get so upset that company like CDPR which was very similar to FromSoftware, only having 1 large success of a game behind them, had to cut content they drafted out in early sketches.

-

Skyrim shipped in far worse state for old gen consoles.

GTA 5 froze a lot in old gen consoles.

Not - a single - open world - game - has been - bug free - on release.

-

And game like Dark Souls which many consider as masterpiece got released same time with L. A. Noire and still got praised to heaven without having even a single dialogue of lipsyncing or NPC movement (outside of the cat and the giant worm guy). I mean compared to even what Dark Souls 3 has, this game is like entirely new level of polish, from a company that had 1 giant success story of a game behind them.

And about stuff like crafting, Dark Souls 1 didn't have "absorb X amount of souls" before remastered version, 7 years after release of the game.

Outside of some obvious flaws like NCPD spawning mechanic and disappearing cars/citizens, it would be hard to find any actual complaints that wouldn't exist in any other releases.

It would be nice after 3 months to start discussing what the actual game is like rather than keep making these weird complaints like missing contents and bugs and lack of UI polish.

I find it hugely ironic that people (certain YouTube angry critics) say how they loved Witcher 3 are complaining so much about poor release, then it was partially they who helped to create this environment of some kind of artificial purity, praising the company to heavens while neglecting their previous game's release problems, lack of any ability to draw comparisons to past etc, then acting completely disappointed to find they happened (in fact far less damaging bugs this time) after release, I just find that extremely dishonest or lazy at best. These people should have known better.

I mean CDPR isn't completely flawless here either and I'm not trying to excuse them.

I think it was completely fine for them to delay the console reviews because how they wanted the game to be fixed in the launch patch and they just had to make all the CD copies before shipping the game out. That's not really the problem, people wouldn't honestly care at all if the game got fixed upon release.
It's now pretty obvious they over-estimated their ability to fix the game in time, it happens a lot in development, I don't think anything shady took place but it was still very unfortunate and very bad judgment in behalf of leadership to make such crucial play in such short time period.

Could the release have been handled better? Absolutely. Many have pointed out they should have delayed it a little bit more, at least put the PC release separately first and then delayed console launch, and the game should have been somewhere between the 1.1 - 1.2 during a release.

But on CDPR's defense I have to say that the game was surprisingly polished even with all the negative reviews and downvote bombs. I've never seen anyone having an issue with BD scenes, or while playing as Johnny, or having corpses being stuck in an endless animation like we see on many Bethesda game. For PC it has been almost(*) flawless condition from the start.

* = if you exclude some rare occasions of 0.01% of the time having strange hiccup or some quest requiring to reload (never happened to me, although I never went into 100% completion), file size limit for PC (never impacted me) etc.
When exceptionnal at first from one become usual/current/standard for all

Hi. I don t know how most of games u told were in their state of development process at release, but u make some strange mix.
Gta 5 at release were sold as a solo game with a free online beta(xbox 360/ps3). And at release, solo part hadvery few technical issues which were correct very fast if i remember good ,and didn t need as much work as cyberpunk need right now (on xbox ones).

At 360 time, internet connection was an option, and game were sold without updates at first, then come dlc which were supposed to add some extra story to the original games for those which agreed to pay for it, then come dlc for multiplayer games to add more maps to play against other (to buy),then come cloud storage for save data game for those who wanted to instead of memory cards, then come some day one updates to correct technical issues that started to go throught quality assurance test before release.
Then 8 generations of console and consumers appear
Just to add to your post .talking about reviewers, influencers, video game website sponsored by advertising [...] and fake consumers in charge to standardize what software s game become (sado mado mechanism in multiplayer with lvl up/craft hundreds hour or be abuse by others if u don t buy at day one or shortcut kit later)( solo gameplay removing playing n getting fun n challenge for crafting(synonime of working)to get loots instead of getting more skills and getting the gear as rewards after defeating a boss to continue story in solo) would be too long
As some lobbies buy some politics ,some others buy some editor to make programs and change people mind and will by conditionning them with time the way they want to format them generation after generation n change the rules to make which was exceptionnal (meaning just one time,or in minority) standards for all

Every single game loses some content during the development, its impossible to implement everything what was on mind.

The main thing is that player should not notice that something was cut.

I was totally ok with DS2 and I've never knew about this character who was removed from the final version of the game. I was totally ok with Witcher 3, and after I completed it I discovered that Iorweth questline was cut from the game. It was sad to know, but I've never noticed that Iorweth should be here, there were no empty spaces.

With Cyberpunk, it is different. The cut content is noticable. We always see this sort of things. Like this wtf cutscene about merc life with Jackie aka "6 months later", perks which do smth which can not actually be used in game, a lot of closed/undeveloped facilities with some stuff inside which look like it could be used but it can't, super rushed main story, side quests without an endings etc.

That is bad, not that something was changed during the development, but the fact that there are a lot of undeveloped, noticeably rushed things, created in hurry just to fill gaps last moment before the release

I can do that too

Just your opinion. In my opinion the game gets far better after act 1.

Is the act 1 more polished than the rest of the game? Sure, but in what game that isn't the case? I don't remember people complaining how in Fallout 3 you got this massive disparity between opening narrative and dealing with Butch and his friends and when game opens up you no longer feel the cohesive story telling or how the rest of the game isn't as polished as the early beginning.

So many people are complaining there's not similar complex stories when it comes to Maelstrom mission, but I've not seen anyone complain about Voodoo Boys / Netwatch choice, so are people just lied to / not played that far / forgotten / didn't pay attention, or all of the mentioned?

Sometimes things aren't as easy as "just do it".

I mean it's like asking why did all the other space agencies have so many exploding / crashing rockets after NASA had so many successful moon missions? Why couldn't they just copy the design of Saturn V and just make few changes. Would have saved them so much money and embarrassment.

Why doesn't Microsoft just copy Google's Android and make better Windows Mobile?
Why can't German artists copy Gangnam Style and become instant billion view hits?
Why can't JBL just copy Apple and become the top technology company in world?

They have their own engine that is good at some things and not so great in the others. They have their own project build on the engine and everything drafted from the start is like a tree branching into a different sections, so it'd be quite hard to make a palm tree into a pine tree.

And I'm not here to excuse the current police system (and I'm so tired constantly defending against those accusations). It needs work.

But it's not like the game would be a completely different game given that 1.2 or 1.3 or whenever they manage to implement police driving. I mean sure it'd allow them to do more with it, like gangs chasing you randomly, editing the existing more scripted events etc, but it's not like outcomes of them are going to be vastly different.

Yep, those games had some bugs too, but not on CP77 scale, ask Sony :D

- With so much depth to most of the story, the Peralez quest line was a bit of a let down. It all lead up to a crescendo, only to never find out who is behind it, or have a way to stop them.

For this one quest line I think they are trying to drive home that whatever was behind that there are far greater powers at play in this Cyberpunk version of future Earth, like Rogue A.I. and what not that could easily stop you if they wished. I'm fairly certain during that quest whatever 'entity' was behind that contacts you on your in-game phone and nearly knocks you unconscious (hacking you with ease), telling you any further investigation would lead to your death. At least that's what I remember happening.

'V' as an individual in this world is for all intent a rather 'normal' person caught up in a rather unlucky situation, story-wise, compared to say someone like J.C. Denton uncovering grand conspiracies. He or she is a bit more grounded in their lot in life, they are not of any family lineage linked to people in top Corporations, etc.

If it becomes canon that V enters the Net, like Motoko in Ghost in The Shell; then I could see 'V' transcending into something more if they obtain a new body (or bodies).

Actually this game's launch was exceptional, it actually got Sony to offer refunds, and got removed from the PlayStation market. And the lawsuits apparently.

And it's quite obvious Mr. Blue Eyes is observing the last exchange between V and Jefferson, they're not hiding that fact since if you scan him it clearly says it's him.

I also found this interesting, if you scan Mr. BE before the exchange his wanted level is different than if you scan him after the exchange - this is with V deciding to tell Jeff the truth and Jeff goes on a crusade.
