Yup...one of two things I refuse to use, Echo cards and Scenarios. I consider them to be the worst things the devs added to the game in recent memory. If one or both weren't in the game the more recent cards would actually not be as overtuned as they are now. Both of these either add overwhelming consistency or the freedom to play with little regard or strategy because there's little to no risk.

I honestly don't think that most of the echo cards are strong enough to be nerfed like this  . If the cards are incredibly strong (AA and bleagle come to mind) then they should just be nerfed overall. Something like dies irae or shaping nature are not carrying their faction but they do enable certain archetypes that would suffer from them being nerfed.

I'd rather see them add echo to some other more interesting cards, for example I read on reddit today a really good idea to add echo to waters of brokilon. People talk a lot about how expensive it is but in a harmony deck being able to play it twice (in two separate rounds unlike before) would absolutely make it worth the high cost.

Didn't we already have this disaster with Mystic Echo. How would moving that ability to Waters by playing it twice not result in the same problem?

Mystic echo let you play the card twice in one turn, making 4 engines that cant be answered at once. This would let you play it once in two different rounds, letting you get value out of the card twice but only setting up 2 engines at a time each time. Its completely different.

Echo, in present form, is a poorly conceived mechanism that inherently destabilizes balance. If a card is too strong, it is two strong twice, and if too weak, it is too weak twice. Presently, without exception, it is too strong — hence the frequent appearance of squirrel, despite ubiquitous heatwave.

Not only does the suggestion of a weaker echo effect solve this issue, it introduced a nice strategic element —do I save the full effect for the crucial third round or do a benefit now and settle for less later.
