What are REDpoints?

+
I'm just curious what the difference is between a Red Point and a Thanks?

This question arises every so often, but as far as we can tell, the difference is rather a matter of degrees of appreciation: REDpoints are similar to 'Likes', whereas Thanks are simply if you find posts personally helpful, or worthy of a 'thank you'. By giving both points to a post, you signal that you really appreciated it. @Kinley has supplied the following explanation:
REDpoints display under your username at all times, permanently, I like to think of them as a sort of "reputation bar".
Thanks don't display anywhere except for the post you thanked.

So I guess it all depends whether or not you find a post good or very good, I guess. :)

How does it feel to have 10k+ points that mean nothing?

You think that would help? He has a way is slipping them into other people's posts, on occasion. . . .

He has the wrong strategy indeed. He tries to soften his cruel moderator decisions with cute pony pics. You don't get many REDpoints like that - and you won't ever get a sweet milk shake... :p
