World is not interactive enough, thoughts?

+
I don't have performance issues with a 2080 Ti..with everything maxed it's fluid and graphically beautiful.
The world feels like a dead illusion..smoke and mirrors to distract from what's missing.
In other open world 'Rpg type games'..even when you are not doing main missions or side quests, or activities..you can still
interact with the world ..playing around and making your own fun..because there are npcs that behave somewhat realistically, or cops like in the GTA games that will pursue you. In the Bethesda games you have companions that you can have
some dialogue with and will at least accompany you on your journeys. The worlds feels immersive and almost real.
You feel like the character you play is you and you are interacting in a world. In this game it feels like your watching
a video. It feels 'on rails'. It feels fake. It feels no more immersive than a good looking first person shooter, with fake
non interactive city tacked on. Why do you have worse npc, cop and vehicle ai than GTA 3 SA? It's embaressing. This like Bioware's Anthem.

You have only 2 possibilities to salvage this catastrophe.

1) Release a full dev kit like Bethesda games do, and let the modding community make this game into what you all
told us it would be, and what most people would want.

2) Rebuild the whole game from the ground up. Start..as a baseline..with Npc 'AI', traffic, the police system, vehicle
AI. Start with the world so it feels interactive..then and only then start adding in story, missions, and eye candy.

A patch here and a patch there won't fix this mess. The world is lifeless and there's no immersion. The more I think about it..modders may be
the only hope..but I doubt you all would release a dev kit..so....sad.

CDPR needs to follow in the footsteps of Epic Games and Unreal Engine by releasing a licensed copy of the source code and editor for the RED engine to the public....
Release a robust SDK kit/ API etc etc etc
Open source everything with regards to the Cyperpunk 2077 (CDPR already made back all money on the game!!!!) and let the community have at it...
Sponsor bug fix bounties...
and have a fund to reward top modders that make the best improvements and contributions to CP2077...

They missed a lot of opportunities for deeper environment immersion. I mean come on, who makes a game with arcade games within it that you cant play? This is the 2000's, i wanna play a little Donkey Kong or Gallica when i see an arcade in a game! :)

They could easily have added an emulator inside the main CP2077 game (as a dll that gets called) that makes it so players can play emulated games within a game... I'd like to play my old DOS games (DOSBOX integration to CP2077) or even N64 games, SuperNintentio games etc etc... most computers playing CP2077 these days are MORE than powerful enough to run an emulator of original Playstation and first Xbox these days..

Yeah whole Night City looking so good atmosphere is great and all but its just visuals and stuff, you can't do anything in the city like a real rpg. Heck I think they remove "RPG" on game's twitter account for that reason, its not a "rpg" like they said at all. At least I'm happy about City's life like I said it looks breathtaking lol

Yeah when I seen it not counted as a RPG anymore I wasn't sure how'd the game would be... but then again if it isn't an RPG then perhaps we just shouldn't keep treating it as such? That way you really could enjoy the game for what it is instead of what it isn't.

It is a game like Witcher 3 actually, not an actual RPG with lots of dialogue options and different ways but it is a RPG with skills, gameplay and stuff. But I think we are right with treating it like a heavy RPG cause CDPR introduced it like it is going to be deep about real role playing stuff

I disagree. Every building and every floor woild be ridiculous alone for the performance.

But generslly there should be a good portion of larger buildings accessible with at least 1 floor to look at. I mean come tf on, you can render them on a need-basis - meaning only when a player enters. Even Deus Ex Human Revolution felt more interactive in some parts.

Not really... they can do a hybrid game streaming like Flight Simulator 2020... So the "base game" is still ran locally on the user's computer but any enchancements get streamed in real time... For example you can run Flight Simulator offline but the world doesn't have high resolution, but if you run with online with a faster internet connection, then whatever city or place in the world you are flying over gets data streamed in in real-time on-the-fly as you play and you don't even notice it...

here is the thing the base installer for flight simulator is 200GB... but the actual entire earth data is more than 2 PETABYTES... there is no harddrive in the world that would fit all that, it resides on Microsoft datacenters and is streamed as needed...

So a "Base" cyperpunk game can have all first floor lobbyy level of all major buildings in the base, but if the user wants to take a ride to a specific floor via the lobby elevators then that gets "streamed" in real time ....

This way a town with 1000+ buildings most of the data is stored in the datacenter cloud and never installed on end user machine, and it is only when a user has intent to ride up the stories of a particular building that then and there the data is downloaded and streamed in as he goes...

If a user is just driving or walking down the street none of this would need to be downstreamed... its only when the user is already in the lobby that the game would start to pre-cache or pre-load internal building/floor data for that building in case the user chooses to ride elevators... but the time the user hit the elevator button, if there is no internet connection then the elevator simply never opens.... but if there is internet connection it lets user ride up the elevator and pick a floor, and during the elevator ride it takes the time to unload the outside world and load in to the game memory the floor/building environment so by the time the elevator reaches the floor the user just steps foot in the building not even noticing the resot of the outside world has been deloaded from memory...

the game is good, the graphics are brutal, more immersion, and more interactivity and reactive city, i don't care if it is scripted or not. it is a game and i have a live.

yeah i would like to take some NPC girls on date like in YAKUZA go to karaoke together or go dance :D

We should be able to leverage internet/cloud computing to speak and talk to NPCs in-game in-real-time and have a realistic conversation... Here is how I would do it, partner with Google to use their API for speech so that whenever a player talks to an NPC it gets sent to Google for speech-to-text and if needed, translation processing... so no typing needed, no need to choose from restrictive canned dialogs, player just talks in natural language (in his native language, doesn't need to be English) and its get intrepreated... then partner with IBM/Google/whatever to have a customized version of "Watson" (think of Siri/Alexa but on steriods in that it is feed all Wikipedia knowledge and has real-time access to entire Internet etc) so that it can answer questions and have a conversation in real-time, in a realistic manner... each different NPC has slightly modified personality parameters and difference voice tones etc and this can be accessed via a centralized database in a datacenter that CDPR hosts so that depending on which NPC a player is talking to it references that overlay before/after sending the conversation to be processed by Google API and whatever Watson backend...

Night City is lifeless cardboard decorations.
To the point that It's almost SHOCKING.
I want to go to a strip bar, or bowling, or billiard. Or just sit by the Chinese food tent and eat something while poking around in phone. Like Jackie in the beginning.
English is not my native language, sorry for possible mistakes :D.

Yeah, haven't really experienced this in a game before. Kind of hoping some other company ends up making a game of this genre/topic
Unreal Engine 5 comes out next year
miles above Red engine
and its free and open source...

What about that nice feature in the trailer back then were you could examine the shard that Stout gave you kind of in a 3d model...those are the things that this game needed as well. MORE interactivity, more gameplay, everything is gone. And when I mean everything I mean everything that made up gameplay.

I would really love to drink Jackie Welles in Afterlife. Or other Johnny Silverhanfd. Just, they're not on the menu...
And Ironically you ask for it to the barmaid, and she agrees to give it to you, too bad it isn't there, you don't get the anim to drink it and that's it, staring at each other with embarassment, it's not even in the crappy inventory list that should only exist in a game like Diablo at a vendor. Top notch quality there.

Firstly I must say that the game is great and I enjoy playing it very much, but more and more I am playing I cant shake that one big dissapointment or issue I have with the game and thats that the world just not seem interactive enough and its really shame cause it has so much potential and unused opportunities in that area. I dont know I just thought it would be more interactive like GTA you know more specifically like GTA SA.

- All those food stands 24/7 or other shops around the game you cant interact with ... why you cant buy a hotdog or cofee or beer whatever then drink or eat it with some nice animation .. those are tiny things but it really adds immersion and life into the game
- Restaurants and bars ... sadly they are completely obsolete and not worth going in there, its just an inventory barter same as with the food machines and since all food gives same boost you just dont have to go there ever ... why you cant just sit around the bar or restaurant drink or eat something with some animations and chill you know maybe watch some strippers and give them some eddies you know
- Too few channels in TV and you cant interact with anything while browsing the web thats a shame ...
- No minigames (at least so far) there is also a lot of unused potential, i saw playing/gaming machines make them usable for in game gaming, pub games like darts or pool, hazard machines (also in game) maybe in game casino ?, there are shooting ranges at gun shops so why not make a minigame here to shoot for high score etc.
- Customizable cars (hope it will be added in some future DLC)
- What are those BDs for if you cant watch them? I still cant figure out why you can buy them them then? and whats the function of pawn shops cause you cant use almost anything he is selling and you can sell him everything you can sell to other vendors
- Too few prostitute/toys types ... I came only across two so far (one male, one female) and playing as male V I dont find the female version very atractive

Those are just few I can think of from the top of my head, feel free to add more if you think of any. I dont know after 8 years of development I just expected the world to be way more interactive and that there will be more things to do when you are not on a mission to just hang out you know.

But otherwise the game is great :)

How it can be improved? (probably wont, but hey a man can dream) Your thoughts?

Absolutely agree with every word you wrote. All of the NPCs, logs, tv commercials, etc. tells you how much you can do in the city, but in reality, you can't do any of it, unless in the quest. When diving into this game I thought it would be like a simulator of a big metropolis, but this is just an illusion. Even small tings like magazines scattered around - there is only a handfull of them, but you can't pick and read any of it. Skyrim, an almost 10 years old game, has better interactivity.

Game is just bad. Yes it's that easy. I don't give a rats ass about "OOOOoooooo look at the pretty", the gameplay is trash. One boring story that has Keanu reeves (so the fuck what) that consists of press F to pay respects, that's the game. All F's lead to the same fucking place. Absolutely no dynamism or creativity. Shit tons of voice acting recorded, and the game is determined you are going to listen to every inane piece of it. Your choices mean jack shit, cause you don't have any. It's a linear on the rails snooze.

This game is as revolutionary as a 2d platformer. The open world is a disaster, AI that they forgot to code, a map that means nothing since you can TP around it at fucking will, or just have your vehicle magically appear when you want it, even though it was on the other side of the map. LOL as a joke it fails at being funny. Awful UI, clunky controls, Jesus i could type pages but it can be summed up by saying that everything they have done with this game has been done before and executed leagues to a level that puts this one in the bargain bin.

Not quite the second coming of jesus now is it. Don't know how they failed this hard, but they did, it's bad at some basic levels, if they couldn't get those right in eight years, then yeah i can't see them unfucking it. Lots of people still telling everyone how pretty the emperor's clothes are though.
