I've always been a fan of Rockstar's games and such, having put in several hundred hours on GTA V and recently picked up and played RDR2. While I enjoy the emergent and finely detailed gameplay, I don't believe Cyberpunk should go out of its way to copy the same gameplay mechanics - with all the level of detail and tightly-packed crowd density at times, wanting the same experience with Cyberpunk 2077 would not only impact performance too much, but be practically unfeasable in many indoor areas [Imagine trying to have GTA V AI inside one of the Megabuildings when you shoot an NPC]
Wanting third-person views too? Good luck trying to make the camera work indoors without clipping every ten seconds and outdoors feeling "cramped" at times - and having to redesign cutscenes for them to work at all. Eating/Drinking animations? Non-essential bloat that doesn't add substance.
Not just a matter of gameplay too - a lot of us would be disappointed if the writing was cheapened for future expansions. The base game is already a great example, if not one of the best, examples of a well-written western RPG - characters like Panam are written like real people, the world coherency is top-notch, the side quests are one-of-a-kind and it lives up to the themes of the source material its based off (None of this "Taking down corps!" tropes this time!). But to replace all of that... say if CDPR listened too much... with "ROB THE SPACE CASINO GUNS BLAZING"...!?
Bugs irrelevant and aside, I would be disappointed if CDPR caved in to the detractors and compromise the game's uniqueness just to cater to everyone who thought this would be a GTA clone. CDPR's been bombarded with these complaints about "muh AI" and "Muh haircut, I wanna roast franklin in Night City" so much that it makes me skeptical about their future direction with this game.
