Cyberpunk 2077 a good name?

+
Who says there’s going to be a sequel? I know this might sound crazy to you but some games can and should stand for themselves! Besides, they could always just add a subtitle to the name for potential predecessors.

lol, making the engine game marketing is soo expensive not making a sequel doesnt make sense. ofcourse if the game flops which i doubt unless CD PR pulls a colonial marines we will see sequels which is very exciting to me.

i know it wont the subject matter is soo hot and CD PR seem to be on top of their games.

Cyberpunk isn't exactly trending right now. There are waves as which certain things appear in media; fantasy, witches, vampires, werewolves, space, future, cyberpunk, alien invasions, and so on. If you look at movies, you may find that quite often similar movies follow each other quite rapidly.

There are a lot of themes popular right now... Fantasy has been done to death with LotR, and then with Harry Potter, although I cringe when I call it fantasy, because it is not. We've had folk tales, we've had a lot (perhaps too much) of vampires, some werewolves, and a bit of zombies. Those have been the prevailing popular themes for a bit now. Then, of course, you've got your superhero movies, which keep popping up, and then of course existing franchises come out with sequels. Alternate universes was a theme with two movies a while back, both of which had like another Earth kind of a thing. Speaking of which, Kirsten Dunst is making yet another alternate universe flick. How awesome.

Cyberpunk hasn't been very hot lately, though. I can't think of a single TV series that would be Cyberpunk, or really even very many movies made lately, that would be Cyberpunk either. I mean, we had Total Recall, but it was a remake, and cyberware didn't play a part in it. Dredd was towards that, but it was a superhero movie or a comic book movie.

Sure, those are all TV series and movies, not games... But that's mainstream for you.

Things can change, and perhaps scifi and Cyberpunk will be popular in a couple years. Hopefully popular enough to make sure it's a hit. Then again, first it'll have to be worthy of being a hit.

a cyberpunk videogame is something i dreamt of since i was about 7 years old, its hot for me and everyone else posting and hyped about this game.
Its not fair to say its not hot right now cause barely any media has been created about it.
if you want a good cyberpunk series i recommend Total Recall 2070, it has nothing to do with Total Recall the movie and is closer to Blade Runner.

It's not hot, particularly. Ask a "normal" (blech!) about vampires or witches, they are fully conversant. Thank you Harry and Edward and Bella. Same for Hobbitses.

Ask them about William Gibson or Ghost in the shell or cyberpunk or even the Matrix, they would point out the Matrix is nearly 15 years ago.

The amount of media created about it is what determines it's "hotness" in mainstream. And mainstream is what's trending. Albeit briefly sometimes.

I like 2077...I will turn 100 in hat year.

But other than that, for sequels, if there will be:

CyberPunk 2077: The day after
CyberPunk 2077: Going Psycho:
Cyber Punk 2077: Streets of Chrome

Or how about naming them after some of the supplement books?
CyberPunk 2077: Fields of Fire
CyberPunk 2077: Home of the Brave
CyberPunk 2077: Maximum Metal
CyberPunk 2077: Solo of Fortune
Cyber Punk 2077: Brainware Blowout
....you get the idea...

...I'm kind of in to that idea. I could see them using this convention as they release expansions. :)

Yeah I mean, Wisdom will buy 200'000 copies for himself to use as wallpaper on his house.

Ha! You -know- the game is going to lack some essential Wisdom-necessary element like customizable long johns or gas stations that really fill up your bike with chooh2 ( hey, that's actually kind of a fun idea. Great place to ambush people, too), or only 23.1% of the buildings will be enterable. Or the story ends with you nuking Militech in revenge or something. And he will adamantly refuse to try the deeply-flawed game.

Then we'll have to fly to Arkansas, tie him to his chair and -make- him play it.

You know this will happen.

.......................ok...............

Just give me warning first so I can tidy up the gaming room......

I dunno; I'm partial to the "2077," because it reminds me of the whole "'77 Punk" thing.

I like this, the year punk rock exploded. Certainly it was there underground wise and btw very good, but it just exploded in 1977 to the mainstream.

So when are they going to change their facebook page to 2077 instead of Game?
