I think it would be a mistake for CDPR to add multiplayer capabilities to Cyberpunk Orion. It was completely unnecessary for the the success of 2077 and I personally don't see any need for it. I think it wiill just add complexity to the game and increase development/debugging time. But...let's do a poll. What do _you_ think?

No interest nor use of multiplayer :giggle:
As long as CDPR keep doing great/awesome solo game as they always did, it's fine. So multiplayer or not, I don't care.

If there is a multiplayer, I simply hope it will be possible to disable it entirely or at least, it will be completely independent of the single player mode (in that way, I can ignore it entirely^^).

On side note, Unreal Engine already include multiplayer features, so it will be way easier for CDPR to add multiplayer "things" in Orion than it was in CP77 (it was one of the many reasons why they moved on Unreal Engine, so there are good chances to see multiplayer features in Orion anyway).

I have no interest in or need for multiplayer (Because I'm a loner with no friends)

Furthermore, I find that any attempts to add multiplayer, would likely detract from the single player experience.

Be it simply resources dedicated to creating some sort of stand alone multiplayer mode (Similar to how GTA has its online mode that is separate from the single player mode), or worse such as having gameplay mechanics altered around multiplayer capabilities (For example, time dialation effects from Sandy or Kerenzikov needing to be reworked/removed because it's non-conducive to multiplayer)

I would much rather they spend the time and resources making the single player campaign as good as it possibly can be, rather than splitting focus to implement multiplayer (Even more so given how CP2077 released...)

The only multiplayer game I'd play in Cyberpunk (or any game for that matter) is a threesome/foursome/orgy with joytoys.

I have no interest in it, and wouldn't want them to spend additional time and resources to implement multiplayer.

If there ends up being one, I will either ignore it entirely or only play with friends (as in, people I actually know).

I think we will have a good idea of what to expect on Orion in term of multiplayer features/modes after discovering what CDPR will do in the next Witcher. Assuming that it will be released before which is more than likely given that the vast majority of devs are already working on it.

I don't need it and I don't care for it. My multiplayer days are largely behind me and I would rather play a great single player game at my leisure.

With that said, I wouldn't be opposed to them adding a standalone version like GTA online later down the road. I likely would have zero interest in it but I understand the potential for revenue such a product generates.

I think so too. I've had my fill with multiplayer. And don't get me started about servers, or you being able to play the game or parts of the game solely dependable on other players.

Well folks...it has been a month. Have the people spoken? Seems like a multiplayer Cyberpunk 2079 is not a starter, or at best will be a niche option.

I think this is the core thing. Strategically, any game maker would be wise to have multiplayer games because they can sustain interest in a title over significantly longer periods of time and, thus, revenues. That's important to keep cash coming in between releases.

But I would definitely want to be playing a single player game, not some sort of mixed hybrid where some guy in an absurd costume lands in my field of view and starts doing comedy emotes.

My guess is the separated worlds philosophy was what was intended for the 2077 multiplayer before it was cancelled.

Considering there are 16 votes out of a pool of millions of potential players, it's far too small a sample to reach any kind of conclusion.

Exactly.

There is no denying the reason Rockstar can go for 12+ years since it's last GTA game is how lucrative GTA online has been for them. Just like Blizzard could go for so long without releasing titles for it's biggest IPs because it had WoW injecting tremendous amounts of money into it's coffers.

Multiplayer has incredible revenue potential and staying power and with UE5 coming with multiplayer capabilities baked in, I highly doubt we won't see a Cyberpunk multiplayer format at some point. Plus, if we're being frank, the world does have tremendous potential for multiplayer. Even as someone who really doesn't have much of an interest in multiplayer, I can't deny that.

No. I just want a single player ACTUAL RPG with real choices that have real consequences in every aspect of the game. Main quest, side quests, dialogue and the actions you do in the world.

CP2077 was devoid of most of that tbh. though it did have decent build options.

Even though I enjoy playing single-player role-playing games, it's hard to deny the appeal and potential of an online world of Cyberpunk. When I look at a game like Grand Theft Auto Online and see people role-playing in it at a much deeper level than what can be done in any single-player experience (which I still find amusing because the GTA series has never really been what people would call a RPG), a part of me wants to see a more RPG-oriented developer try their hand at it.

With that said, it took a community of people several years after GTA Online was released to realize its RPG potential. If CDPR does decide to try their hand at multiplayer, they've got an enormous task in front of them. While my main interest is still a new single-player game, I'm open to trying out whatever multiplayer game or component CDPR develops.

Don't care about multiplayer. But if they insist on doing it, then they should focus on the single player aspects and the base game itself first and then go for the multiplayer stuff.

I feel multiplayer can be a tricky one - based on the approach. I'm personally a fan of particular types. I found a first person non-MMORPG, or at least non-classic MMORPG approach to be better. I favor RP over anything else. At least medium RP or so. I dislike classic MMORPGs the most because it turns into hit boxes and health pools over semi-realistic combat related mechanics like in ARMA or so. I'd favor something like GTA - multiplayer in an open world with sandbox mechanics and still a way of character progression over "quick to play" modes like team death match etc. Or rather these modes should be contained in a larger open world through various activities, maybe in addition to a quick start option to get into those right away for those who want - like races.

I hate to often quote GTA but I feel GTA 5 did a lot right in their approach and design of MP - and then some things over time, maybe more wrong by adding questionable vehicles. But that's more of a balancing issue, really.

But given the strengths of CDPR I feel multiplayer should be considered a luxury, a cherry on top. My main hope and primary priority is a compelling, engaging open-world RPG experience in the Cyberpunk setting. This I know they will have covered.

I feel a multiplayer approach should be equally well-designed and considered because it can make or break a further impression beyond any top notch singleplayer experience. Long story short I'd favor an open world MP experience just as I favor an open world singleplayer experience.

No thank-you. If they go for the same deep story angle than having multiplayer will add another level of complexity.
Can each player go in different directions and do their own thing
What if each player wants to make another decision
Is one character a side kick to the other
If the story is based on a single character than how do they make changes based on 2 or more

I think they would have to come up with a totally different game than 2077.
