My speculation-Contains minor spoilers
Hi, sometime ago we were shown a video of a walkthrough of the grave examination side quest. After killing the mage character in the first combat encounter with Kaedwen soldiers, Geralt loots his corpse for a hooded jacket. What I notice is that the hood has a tail which has real time physics applied to it much like Geralt's ponytail. From this I concluded that Geralt possibly has two head models with identical, fully working facial animations, but one does not have the ponytail, otherwise it would clip through the hood.(Note, it's also possible that the ponytail is removed through use of a second alphamapped texture of his ponytail.)If my assumptions are true, this could be really good news for modders. Because as I noticed from the Dev Diary trailer number 4, character models are created from different parts. (Some observations from the glimpse of the sdk: head, collar, helmet, arms, legs, torso.), this mean we might be able to play as different characters complete. Note the April fools trailer has Dandelion using Geralt's animations. This looks promising. What do you think? Will the new engine still make use of the old style of animation from the first game where every character can play any animation, meaning you can replace Geralt with an npc character or replace part of Geralt's model with parts from other models and it will animate correctly. This based on the assumption that Geralt himself is comprised of different sections. From screenshots, it is clear he has the ability to swap legs, torsos, hands, and feet. So I believe this is the case.My first mod project will be to give Geralt npc character items. Like the mail collar. Presumably there are different collars for different character sizes. I notice some characters are shorter than others within their own type. Such as a fat short sentry and a tall, fit sentry using the same kind of collar.Thanks.
