Thank you all for leaving so many great questions regarding Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty for our upcoming REDstreams episode! Alas, there’s only so many we can fit within the time we have available for the episode… That’s why, in the leadup to the episode’s premiere, we’ve taken some of the questions that we didn’t manage to squeeze into the show and got them answered anyway! Enjoy!
Hi, as we know the skill tree is getting a complete overhaul. Returning players who are let’s say in Act 2 before the update 2.0. How will they adjust to the new skill tree on their old save file?
First of all, perks will be reset for all players following installing the update and you will be able to redistribute them as you please. What’s more: from now on you will be able to freely redistribute perk points whenever you want, without the need to do a full perk reset each time you want to do so.
In addition, all players will also be able to do a single attribute reset for each character upon installing the update. This will apply to characters you load up from earlier versions of the game as well as newly created ones.
- Will there be a new lifepath ?
When creating your character, you will still be choosing between Corpo, Nomad, and Street Kid lifepaths — neither Update 2.0 nor Phantom Liberty introduce any changes in this regard.
With Patch 2.0 and Phantom Liberty being the final (major) updates to the game, are we any closer to having an official mod tool, or maybe more support for the community written tool WolvenKit?
There already is an official mod tool for Cyberpunk 2077 — REDmod. It has been created with WolvenKit integration in mind, but can also be used separately. You can find out more about it here:
https://www.cyberpunk.net/en/modding-support
Will 2.0 also bring alternative appearances for Judy, Panam, Kerry, and River?
No, we currently have no such plans.
Will there be the ability to start a new game at any point in cyberpunk? Like you can start directly during the heist or after it.
There are currently no plans to introduce an option to start a new game at any point within the game’s story. That said, you will be able to jump straight into Phantom Liberty, which will start you off sometime after the Konpeki Plaza heist with an adequately leveled-up V.
Can we change Body Type/Voice Tone/Facial Tattoos/Body Tattoos in-game?
In addition to everything you were able to change about your character up to Update 2.0 / Phantom Liberty, you can now visit a ripperdoc to change your facial and body tattoos.
Is phantom liberty going to be the end of cyberpunk?
Not at all! Some time ago we announced that we’re working on the project codenamed “Orion”, which will be the next game from CD PROJEKT RED in the Cyberpunk universe. Details, however, are still classified
Will Nibbles finally get hair? ;_
Nibbles is already purrfect!
Are you adding ray traced reflections in the PS5 version?
Will there be raytracing reflections for ps5 and maybe a 60fps patch for it?
No additional ray tracing option have been added in Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty for consoles, but we changed the upscaling resolution in Performance Mode on both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 for smoother gameplay and improved image quality.
Hello, is there any information if a translation community is translating the game into Ukrainian?
Actually, Update 2.0 features an official Ukrainian translation for the content of both the base game and the expansion (see details in
this article)! And although this was an internal effort on the part of the CD PROJEKT RED Localization Team, we are very much aware of the work the community has been doing in this regard — we see you and thank you for your dedication and passion to bring Cyberpunk 2077 to the Ukrainian community in their native language!
I would like to know more about shapeshifting (or whatever it's called), both from the lore and gameplay perspectives.
Even though this DLC is presumably taking place before one of the possible endings, I have to ask, will V find a cure for her _disease_, in the form of an epic side quest with Judy & the Aldecaldos or an official epilogue (both are fine :3)?
How will face Cyberwear work being there is only one slot? Feels a bit if Kiroshi and the aforementioned disguise cyberwear will replace one another.
Those are questions that I would love to answer, but this would mean going deep into spoiler territory. You’ll just have to look for answers to these questions yourselves by playing Phantom Liberty!
Will the revamped police system and vehicle combats be well exploited in the base game? Like in new gigs for example.
The new police system has been fully integrated into both base game and expansion content. We made sure that it works everywhere and works well. You might, for example, experience car chases between different groups fighting for territory — like gangs fighting each other or NCPD, or corporations dealing with gangsters, and more!
Will the north oak casino be in the expansion?
Phantom Liberty is focused primarily around Dogtown and that’s where most of the action will take place. But worry not, there are plenty of cool new locations to visit in this part of town and we can’t wait for you to visit and experience them.
Willl I be able to walk on the streets of Dog Town in my regular cyberpunk 2077 play through without triggering the Phantom Liberty dlc story line ?
My question is, what if I want to go do dog town early on in the game, like when the map opens up and were free to explore everywhere, can we check out the Black Market or is Dog Town only traversible when you play Phantom Liberty dlc ?
This won’t be possible, I’m afraid, and for good reason, too. Access to Dogtown is strictly guarded by Barghest — the place is nigh impossible to get into or out of. In order to get there you need to get some help from some very powerful people (like the ones that you meet in the expansion).
can you please tell us if there is a new bike in the game?
We might have hidden one or two secret machines in the game. You might have even seen them in some of the gameplay videos we’ve shown here and there
Can I start a playthrough after 2.0 without missing anything that would be added to the beginning of the game from the expansion?
The expansion is designed in a way that lets you jump in basically at any time you wish after a certain point in the game. How its story plays out might have an effect on the events that follow, but will not affect the ones preceding it, so you shouldn’t miss anything if you start a new character after Update 2.0 goes live.
Not sure if you'll answer it or not, but most have already finished the main game,. without actually spoiling things how much changes in the based games endings and is it significant or minor.
The base game received a lot of bugfixing and improvements, but you shouldn’t expect a different story or remakes of the quests from the base game. The story of the base game, including its endings, are the way they were intended to be, but depending on your choices in Phantom Liberty, you might get an opportunity to experience a different game ending.
Will the Cyberpunk EdgeRunner costume be available to players?
We actually added a number of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners-inspired items, including David’s jacket, to the game some time ago as part of our free DLCs program:
https://www.cyberpunk.net/en/dlc.
If i purchased the base game on Epic, do I have to purchase PL on Epic as well?
Yes. The base game is required to install and play the expansion, so you need to own both on the same storefront.
