Resistance to Magic - Useful?

I'm at the end bit of Rose of Remembrance and I'm thinking about the choice I have to make with regard to Triss (leaving it vague so as not to spoil). Is the attribute very useful, or just marginally useful in the game? I'm role-playing this game with the intent of porting over a save game and romancing Triss in TW3 but if the resistance can be a life saver I would reconsider my choice.
Thanks.

It can be useful, but not really necessary, except maybe on the perma-death difficulty where any extra resistance helps. If I remember right, it multiplies your existing magic resistance by 1.2, so if you had 30% before, it becomes 36%, rather than 50. I think when I played the game, most of Geralt's deaths were due to physical damage, rather than magic. Between very useful and marginally useful, I would say it is more of the latter.
