Things that bother me!

OK! First of all, I would like to say that this game looks fantastic, and I don't doubt that it'll be a great game overall, but there are some little annoyances that I don't like. I posted them in the 'Ask the Developer..' topic, so I'll just copy-paste them here. Also, they are visible in this gameplay video from 10:00, till the end..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSqbKiwcCRE&feature=player_embedded1.
Will we be able to use potions on the fly, like in the first game, or the only way to drink them is by meditating?
I know that, and it's realistic an fine, but I was wandering if I can drink the potions in a non-fight situation without meditating! It's kind of stupid that Geralt can't do this simple task without meditating, action that is totally unrelated to the first. And, imagine if you were going through a crypt filled with ghouls, and you want to drink a cat potion.. what kind of warrior would leave his back so open and vulnerable, by sitting on the ground and meditating. It's just bad design idea, if it's true!!
But you don't know when the fight is coming, and you don't know when you'll bump into some dark area! You may think, before going into the dungeon, that inside is dark, so you meditate and drink a cat potion.. but what if there's a lot of torches, and cat potion wasn't needed? You have to meditate again in a hostile, creature infested dungeon, just to drink white honey potion to neutralize the effect of cat. Really, potions will have meaning only in the second playthrough when you know the locations and enemies..P.S. Yes it's good to prepare before a fight, but you could do that without meditating.. He has a slots for potions on his armor, is it really that hard to take one and drink it without going into zen?? It's just illogical and stupid, IMO!!
2.
Also, is there a potion which let you see in the dark, without making all enemies glow like an orange neon light? I don't like this new feature of cat potion, it breaks the visual identity of the game, like detective mod in Batman: AA did. Imagine going through a swamp in TW1, with consumed bottle of this new version of cat.. You'll feel like you're in Tokyo!! Or, imagine if you have to fight some unique monster in some dark cave, and you drink cat.. all you'll see is some big orange goo, and not the way it really looks..
Am I the only one in this??

You don't have to meditate to drink potion. It's just an oppertunity to do so when you meditate. All potions can be consumed before combat, without the need of meditation. I assume you can select them in quickslots and drink them just like in TW 1.Unfortunally I haven't found a newer video about it but atleast you can check this video at 3:50 that Geralt isn't forced to sit down and meditate to consume them.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOGD-VQTW-E&feature=related

I hope so, but it hasn't been confirmed yet! Also, another forum member doesn't seem to agree with you..

Since there are obviously quickslots in the inventory screen, they would make little sense if you can't drink potions anytime. You don't need quickslots for meditation, right?

Looking at the ability trees it seems quite clear to me, anyway quickslots in demos have always been used for bombs and they will probably work for oils too

As far as I know, you need to enter mediation to drink any witcher elixir and there's no other way to do it.Note that elixirs aren't your ordinary Red Bull stuff, they affect witchers in multiple, sometimes drastic ways as shown in the books. It's only natural they require time to take effect.

But, it's not logical from the gameplay aspect! And, in the first game, you could drink them as you go! I don't like that change. If they only choose to restrict the potions from being used in combat, that would be perfect..Also, what about cat potion?! Don't you think that it's visually intrusive, and by seeing your enemies through walls, is it not making the game a bit casual? I know there was a De Vries Extract in the first game, but I've never used it, and now they mixed those two potions into the new cat. And to make things worse, if you drink it, you have to find a safe place again, so you could meditate, and drink white honey. Why not keep those two potions separate??

In one of the presentations of the prison break, they chugged a cat potion mid-play, made away with the guards and then removed the effect the same way. It would really make no sense to have to meditate while trying to escape prison, the devs know that! And while time and again that one statement gets quoted that says "It has already been confirmed that potions can only be consumed through meditation", nobody ever quoted the actual confirmation; I didn't find it in the Unofficial FAQ thread and I just recently sifted through the whole thing. Maybe that was a misunderstanding where preparing and drinking of potions got mixed up. They might have said that you can drink while meditating. I understood it like that you only can not drink potions in combat. It doesn't make sense otherwise, because you might end up playing every scene around the corner twice and if they actually go with the checkpoint saving (I hope not!!), we'd be throwing the game out the window in frustration in no time. Who would want that? Nobody who wants to sell their product even years after release. Like The Witcher EE. ;)
