"V will have only one apartmant in the game." - Kasia Redesuik (gamestar.de interview)

+
As a native german speaking person i can clarify that the text was translated correctly.

The only thing which is very strange, is that there are other interviews e.g. an interview with the lead anmiator which says other apartments can be bought. So maybe Kasia just didn't knew, we would need some OFFICAL clarification from CDPR now!

When were those? Last year? Then it's more likely to assume their stance changed than Kasia not knowing.

First off, it sounds like fake, hatery news.

Second, I doubt Keanu took all of their project money and now we only get one of each thing.

If it is true, it's extremely stupid. The first game I know with multiple apartments was GTA Vice City, in 2002, one of which was a huge drug mansion.

It would be super stupid to not be able to have multiple apartments, it's such an old feature and it's so easy to implement.

It's different to the hope i had for progression in the game.
It seems that you're still poor V at the end with a small pad. Was hoping you could rise up in the world.

This is what I'm thinking too. In RDR2 the economy was fundamentally broken to keep the story consistent. You were richer than god and the game treated you like you were poor because the story would have literally ended if it admitted that you'd made enough money to leave the country.

Geralt was similar. He'd make just enough money to upgrade his gear and his horse. It wasn't until the DLC that he got a single vineyard (of moderate size) and made himself a little home. This game is looking like it's gonna do the same thing. You're gonna be a mercenary but you won't ever get to be a "solo of fortune"

You're gonna start and end in the same place. No rags to riches story.
Is that upsetting? Will most people care? I don't know. Depends on what type of game you were looking to play.

We should get as many people to tweet to CDPR to get confirmation of this. I want a formal response from the company saying wether this is real or not. I'm tired of the fans speculating amongst themselves.

@Metropolice, can't find the video anymore, it was an interview with "Maciej Pietras" (Lead Cinematic Animator), it was about the scene system, buying property and such stuff.

We need OFFICAL clarification on this please!

@MilezZ, @Vattier, @Alicja.

And this was an interview from this year's E3? Gosh, fingers crossed. Although it would be strange if between the two of them the Art Director would be the one who doesn't know about multiple apartments.

Then we have to go with the latest bit of information, as by default we have to assume that

a) they all know about vital info and wouldn't contradict themselves (even if it may be possible in theory)
b) notably older information is outdated.

If it isn't a recent statement, esp. from this E3, I doubt someone "got it wrong" and that they instead changed course. But then again all of this including my certainty about this being the case now is still speculation (even if the chance is slim), so additional dev replies have to either reinforce the statement or clarify in case of mistakes.

Still, my key point is: Makes little sense to pull up a (maybe notably older) statement in the light of a very recent one.

I predict in a few months (at the latest) we'll have moved on from this anyway and deal with it. It's not the end of the world, but it is a bummer.

While back then (and still) a lot of the game was a work in progress and subject to change I really do wonder why they supposedly scrapped this and "downgraded". 10 months ago it all seemed very certain. But alas, that was 10 months ago @article.

Hmm...

I am disappointed and curious about this news. The reasons are the same as others listed:

- For anyone to operate longer periods of time outside the law, one needs multiple safe houses. To not have them is illogical. What is illogical ingame is immersion breaking.

- As mentioned by others, one great reason for a character to have multiple apartments is to show progression in the world. Get money, rent/buy better apartment. This piece of news also makes me wonder about the length of the game and how much of it actually IS open world (once again) as opposed to short and strict main-story only, moving from scene to scene.

Even Adam Jensen, in Deus Ex which is VERY MUCH very strict, linear, singular story, has an apartment (granted, only one, but Jensen doesn't operate outside the law the way V does). In Vampire the masquerade: bloodlines which was released in poor shape, one player character could have up to 3 apartments during a single playthrough (Santa Monica, downtown apartment, clan-specific haven).

- If there exist hotels or something like that, those are not really that different from an apartment and I would find it strange if you couldn't use those either. I would have imagined that hotels would've been mentioned if using them was possible ingame. Apartment is just a base of operations...

And there's another concern. When asked, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz only listed hacking, racing, martial arts and shooting range as mini-games. With the sprawling, beautiful world of Night City I sure hope there will at least be a few casinos.

But the way he talked about it made me wonder if he misunderstood the question.

gamestar also repeated the interview statement that you can play through the
game without 1 kill, which is not entirely true as far as i understood other
interviews. So kinda wonder if multiple "Homebases" are rally scrapped

It is becoming inceasingly clear that they focused on 2 games. The story driven RPG, and the "free" open-world.
And it seems to me that they are not planning on doing anything else with that seconde one. I fear it is going to be the "all look, no touch" kind of world type.
:(

Heh. In 2020 you don't typically have an apartment at all. It's even in the description of life in 2020. You live out of a bag and keep moving to the next job, away from the last set of enemies...

Never had one as a PC, only players of mine who've had them have been Corps or maybe Medtechs? Possibly?

The Future Is Disposable.
