I cannot use signs

I cannot use signs. None of them. When I try it tells me "You cannot use this now" in any area or situation, in combat or outside of it. Before this did not happen and I play a lot of hours. I do not know why that is happening now. I have tried everything to fix it. Close the game, loading previous saves, change controls, meditate, travel to other areas, complete quests, verify and reinstall the game .. nothing works.

Please fix this, This is no way to play.

FIX:

If you throw a Dimeritium Bomb at your feet and wait for it to expire, you can cast signs again!

I have the same bug, except i dont get any message when trying to activate any of the signs, i can freely switch between em, but not cast. The bug has occured i assume in the later part of the game, and has caused me to get stuck. I can reload an older save from the 19/05 where my signs work fine, so it is by no means my keyboard thats the problem (have also tried rebinding the key/making multiple restarts, all the above things Maverik mentions.)

Update with more info:

I keep playing more time and still not working. When you riding horse and try to use the axii sign a strange sound occurs, the same sound that occurs when you try to use a bomb but you dont have. Geralt don´t get the animation, and the effect of the signal not occurs, however the white aura appears on the horse's head.

All very strange.

I also clarified I play in Gog galaxy from day 1 and always with the latest updates, The problem occurs in 1.03 but I had no trouble at first in that patch ~25 hours playing.
347.88 nvidia drivers. With a xbox controller neither work

I started a new game and works after fight tutorial.. but i don't want initiate a new game after 25 hours..

I'm losing hope to solve by myself = (

i have the same problem but with steam version. when riding the horse i can cast axii, nothing more, if i choose an older savegame i can solve the problem. But is a very old one

I've had bad luck I don´t have saved games before the problem. I Only use quicksaves and AutoSaves

And at first I thought that would solve the problem easily and quickly and I don't load game when I could. = S

I have the same problem but I also cannot draw my swords anymore. I can use Axii on the horse as another poster mentioned but thats it. Whenever I go in a fight Geralt will start using his fists and signs simply say "cannot use that now".

same problem i jsut got note that i can not use this here... i tried everything so far... last working save is 8 h early... no thanks i got stuck now.... i was hoping crashing is the only problem i really regreat i bought this game .....

Yessss!! My signs is back! I just finish the contract: the swamp and after beating the monster my signs was back!

PD: Its the contract: Swamp Thing? I finish the mission before my problem occurs.. I try with other mission contracts but it does not work

Okay, so my signs are back, I lost them after the wake in Skellige. I don't know if it will stay that way but here's how I got them back:
I continued the main quest and got to the point where I need to return to Velen. Also I completed Yennefer's sidequest, not sure if it had any effect but just saying how I got the signs back. After that I went to Velen and randomly tried to cast Yrden and voila, it worked. So my best guess is it's bugged at a certain point of progression and later on restored. I will need to go back to Skellige to test if the signs work there though. Hope this helps some of you, witcher away!

I have the same issue where signs just do not work. I've skipped tutorials to play but I cannot complete quests now because I cannot cast a sign. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times.

Edit this was for ps4 I will move

We have a fix!

If you throw a Dimeritium Bomb at your feet and wait for it to expire, you can cast signs again!

Won't it suffice to throw the Dimeritium at your feet and leave the cloud?
