Counterattack doesn't work

Since version 1.04 I'm unable to counterattack. Parrying works, but whenever I try to counter an attack when they prepare to attack me, I just stand there and take the blow to my face. At first I thought it might just be that I'm slow, but after trying against multiple enemies and restarting the game, Geralt would never counterattack. It worked perfectly before version 1.04 and I hope you guys are able to fix it .

Specs are
GTX 980
i7 5820k
8GB of RAM
Win 8.1 64-bit

Not all attack can be parried and thus countered. As an example you should be able to parry most attacks from human enemies with one handed weapons (except heavy attacks). Reasign Controls helped for me

I had the same problem. For me the solution was to reasign the controls.

I had assigned my own key for counterattack / block und with patch 1.04 it got reset to the default value. Reasigning it solved the issue for me.
