This is really cool, I hope it makes it into DLC. Also"Cop ability ideas"In the case of cop, perhaps you could have abilities that let you pacify enemies? Maybe you'd be rolling against their "Cool" to determine whether or not they're willing to give up and "come quietly" (maybe let you cuff them, or they cuff themselves and hide nearby). The higher your cool, or the higher whatever this "pacify" ability, the more people can be affected by your warnings in an area. You could also get a few unique dialogue abilities to flex your cop muscles.
Perhaps you could also non-violently "commandeer" somebody's vehicle. "Police business, I need your vehicle" (Cool check in the background). NPC: "Hell no, get out of my face." or "SUPER hell no, now I'm going to attack you." or "Fine, but make it quick." (the car, if it has support for it, could auto-drive back to its owner when you are finished).
Smart post right here.I'll just throw out there that any police based mode dependent on multiplayer is a terribly bad idea as it would automatically have an expiration date looming over it as eventually, most players would leave it for something newer and shinier which would leave those who do remain waiting endlessly for people to fill up the game. IMO If it gets done, it needs to be single-player focused.
Maybe they can add the Cop life path after the game releases, much like Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is adding more clans after release.@scraverX
Obviously some backgrounds are more of a caste or lifestyle / active background (Nomad, Street kid) while the other (Corpo) is more like an ex job in the context of the main character since my info is you were a (low to mid tiered) Corpo.
A fictional or theoretical cop background would thus likely refer to you being a former one so you would be right that a cop background wouldn't be the same as playing one, if I understand you right.
I still think it would be something to get us even closer to police related side content. Be able to intimidate people the right way or push the right buttons, be able to establish contacts into NCPD (whether you know people there, dunno since V is new in NC you likely weren't a cop in NC in a theoretical cop background) or also have ties to some sort of private detectives. Possibly be able to get into Max-Tac as some kind of "reservist" and more. Basically unlock more side content with NCPD and some corporate or private security.
I mean a cop background by release or at all seems unlikely now, apparently not enough time left or not viable to get in given not even a dozen months remain to release and that retroactively adding one to the main game might possibly be a lot of work...
... but it would be cool to have or in other words to me it's viable enough next to corpo, nomad, street kid. I can think of other backgrounds that would be less viable.
Curious to see the new footage. As reminder, the thread will be updated with ideas and assumed ways to implement after more footage (and possibly related info) is released.
So after Gamescom unless i just happen to do it before.
I like this project offered in the thread, and I can see its potentials. But in my opinion, such project would be even more appealing if it's implemented in a multiplayer release, similar to APB Reloaded. Organized criminals v. organized enforcers fighting over the control of territories. Although I liked the ideas behind APB, the overall gaming experience was not interesting to me as the execution of these ideas could've been far better. But your project reminded me of APB, and something like that in the hands of cdprojekt will definitely be a lot more interesting than APB. I know there is a thread for Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer ideas, but since I saw this idea in this thread, I had to make the post here. Hope it's helpful.
Honestly, the gang thing is way more overdone than a cop themed game. An open-world game where the player could be the police would actually be something new and unless you count Sleeping Dogs, hasn't been done this gen. Then again in that game, you were doing gang-like stuff over half the time.Cops vs Bad Guys is so overused concept. Why not to do something with the Corps instead or even Gangs. I dont know any game series with Corporations to be honest, that sounds to be more interesting path to walk.
Hunt down Cyberpsychos sounds like a fun thing to do as a Cop though.
The Psycho Squad seems intriguing. Maybe you can add the Trauma Team as well, they do somewhat similar tasks.
