E3 2018 and Beyond- What I think will happen

I don't think they would refer to 2012-2013. Maybe a mention to The Witcher 3 as "a big commercial success" or "critically-acclaimed".

I don't think they will delay the release either. They have learnt throughout The Witcher 3 term for sure. Also, I bet they won't show a "vitamined" demo gameplay as some companies did (Horizon ZD, The Division...). Just following Rockstar's footsteps. They themselves gave an excuse to haters to begin the shitstorm against TW3 with E3 2014 demo. They can't afford that with CP2077.

based on gwent, really not. they recently delayed the single player gwent campaign and just pushed an update that they really should have sat on for a month - in other words they completely overestimated how much they could do til the christmas "deadline".
cdpr is good at a lot of things, but they are rubbish at managing scope and/or resources.

That's how I envisioned this presentation. You may not like it, but this is what peak perfomance at E3 looks like.

Dude i'm worried that if the rumors of privet demos for the press are true. That means just they will be able to see it. I remember that TW3 there was a time they just showed a closed demo to the press. It took some time for us to get a demo later. I hope this is not the case at this E3.

I guess the polish site said there was gonna be a PLAYABLE demo behind closed doors, that could mean we'll sill be able to see a gameplay video.

Of course, the most important matter is if they actually meant playable, as "you watch as we play", or playable, as "here's your pad, enjoy it". I don't think that CDPR ever brought hands-on demo to E3, usually they invite press on their own terms a few months before release for such.

Presumably, they're making Thronebreaker campaign bigger. They previosly said they are not very good with scope planning. You may be right, but with CP2077, the big deal, I believe it's going to be different.

Take notes, CDPR!

Wouldn't be unheard of. Show something big on the show floor, let the press keep up the hype by writing about their closed door experience.

Or, CDPR might skip a 2077 showing at E3 and limit to just press. A week later, as the press are piling up their different accounts, CDPR drops the actual gameplay video.

Really upset that I missed my chance to sign up as media this year. Didn't even realize I could till last month, and registration is closed.

Are they really unsure about the game to do this?

I don't know if they're unsure, I just think it's a tactic to build up hype even more.

The other alternative is them showing it both to press privately ( a different demo ) and to the public in the form of a shorter gameplay trailer. So, press may get an extended, say, ~30min demo, and the public gets like a 4 or 5 minute gameplay video.

I'm pretty confident that Cyberpunk 2077 will appear at 2018 E3. You know why? Because the polish site GRYOnline said that their sources' leaks coincide with the youtuber LegacyKillaHD,

The youtuber said that CDPR gave a demo of the game to SONY to see how it run at the PS4. Something that also makes sense, specially since you need to test your game before making a demo of it.

It probably will be shown at E3 behind closed doors. My dream would be that it comes out this year, at worse I hope it comes out early next year, but what I am afraid is that it will come out in 2020 to coincide with cyberpunk 2020 for marketing, which I hope is not the case. Instead what I would prefer is that the game comes out soon and they release an awesome DLC expansion in 2020 that is tied to cyberpunk 2020 in some way.

I really don't think they will release in 2020 just for the sake of marketing. Would make zero sense. Delaying potential sales (remember, they have to pay everybody's salary for that extra year) just to have a cool release date is a very, frankly, stupid idea and not one I think CDPR will subscribe to. On top of that, they want to release another RPG by 2021.

Doesn't mean there's no chance it'll come out in 2020, just not for that reason.

Still, I think early (Q1/Q2) 2019 is most likely.

Yeah. Hundreds of people on payroll for a date only the hardcore PnPers care about? No.

But to announce 2020 as the year of Cyberpunk like 2017 was the year of Gwent (I know they won't make stand-alone games and stick to expansions anyway)? Hell yes.

The first Witcher 3 gameplay trailer was cobbled together from the footage taken from the first two demos they show to the press (one showing Lord of Undvik quest, the other one In The Heart of The Woods plus the first viewing of Killing Monsters trailer), so I expect they do something similar with Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay trailer as well.

I just really wonder if this game will be a next gen console Ps5/Xbox 2 only and PC release. From the sounds of their ambition for the game, having seemingly maxed out console limits with Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk is supposed to be leaps and bounds further in scope. Also assuming based on the rumors floating around the net.

It doesn't make sense to send Sony a test kit as they would have already had a dev kit for ps4, unless CDPR might be dealing with Sony on developing on new dev kits for ps5.

Also, no one really knows when they will show the actual game or even start the marketing campaign based on rumors, not facts so the 2018 reveal, Q1/Q2 2019 is all assumptions. And who knows when they will reveal and roll out next gen hardware, but it could all line up into the mid 2019 year, but only CDPR and devs know.

I know everyone wants to assume its release must be on current hardware but everyone also assumes its a 2019 release as well, and there's enough contradictory rumors from this last week alone to prove for a fact no one knows anything. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cyberpunk as a next gen only title, at all.

New consoles could come out in 2018, so it's not impossible.. But bear in mind, that also impacts sales. Not everybody is going to be able to afford a new console, and certainly not everybody is going to have one by the time 2077 comes out. Even if that was a 2020 release.

The Xbox One and PS4, though? Just about everybody that wants one of those, has one by now.

PC gamers are pretty much the only people who will (mostly) be immune to that sort of jump, assuming they bought mid-high end video cards last gen.

My best guess is they just opt to develop it with the PS4 Pro/Xbox One X in mind, to take advantage of the extra power.

I doubt it ... if they were coming out with PS5 XB2 this year ... they probably would have bothered with the upgrades to the last systems. I'd say the console cycle (if that's even really a thing anymore) has another 2-3 years in it.

Probably right. Fine by me, really. Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro seem perfectly adequate as far as hardware and visuals go - definitely pretty large improvements over the originals. I'm just wondering if new games will start requiring them, or what... Then you are essentially buying a PS5 or Xbox Two (Since we're apparently going back to single digits).
