For me personally i like my female protagonists hot and with a cool personality. As long as its interesting i really dont care if its objectification or not since its fantasy not reality. I dont expect woman IRL too be like my game characters.
Im against this recent trend of making game characters more "ugly" or with more realistic bodys when its done just too try too not objectify them. They are not real! If you do it for good reasons in game im fine with it, just like other thing like politics or whatever you want. If it fits the lore/story/game world and isent a total remake of already establised cannon its fine (depends on what game type it is ofc).
Doing it because ticking boxes on a checklist im not fine with. Remaking something just too fit it in depends on how its made. Never really understood this fixation with changing "history" even if its just games (its happening in ALOT of genres atm). If you want too tell a new story make a new story, dont take an already existing one and change it. Seems it more often fail too so i dont get it.
The latest triology of Tomb raider is a example of it when i never felt totally disconnected too the old Lara for example. It was fine for me but i also know some people did not like it. They did alot of changes but it wasent a remake of any of the old games, it was more a prequel type of thing.
Cp2077 did a great thing with Claire for example, it wasent in your face. Some games just cant do it subtly and fitting.
i dont know, im probably just getting too old too se the point
