Damn, did they really say that? I thought CD was better than that and that they would at least consider adding the TPP, not dismiss it entirely... seems I was dead wrong.
Wow, really?

There was a Q&A portion, the CDPR dude was asked whether third person would be a thing, he said quite clearly no.

Whether they change their minds later, who knows, but it would surprise me.

[/ QUOTE]
they will try to do the best ...... I will give the vote of confidence

We did not even see what the game is like to say what would be the best view

I want the 3 person, but since they guarantee that it is better we will trust

Absolutely no third person mode just confirmed on the live stream. Confirmed in the sense that, no, they won't "listen to feedback and add a third person mode." Third person cutscenes, though. And, I would assume, third person vanity camera or something at some situations, who knows.

Can you provide the source of that information ? Not that I don't trust random people on the Internet...

Why the game will work well with FPP

- The guns will most likely be heavily customisable and very detailed, so in first person view you will see the guns in all of their glory and detail.
- The game will have a lot of indoor areas, all the skyscrapers and other buildings will most likely be accessible and it's must more comfortable to operate in FPP in such tight spaces
- Eye implants/Brain implants, CD Projekt already mentioned this, there will be a lot of different cusotmization options for implants etc, so obviously if you have an eye implant it will be more immersive to experience the game in FPP, if the implants modify the way you see things or add a little UI.
-The world of the game is located inside a massive city with an enormous amount of detail, in FPP you can look wherever you want, you have so many skyscapers and massive buildings which you will be walking past, in FPP you will be able to appreciate their beauty to the fullest, as you will be able to look up which you mostly can't do in third person.
- The detail going on in every corner will be more noticeable in FPP, so say you're walking down the street, you will see the newspapers floating about, leaves falling, rain particles, snow particles, every little detail in NPCs faces, you will truly feel as if you are inside the world of Cyberpunk, it wouldn't be possible in third person as you are zoomed out and can't see the same detail.
- The games combat will heavily involve gunplay of course, and this type of combat is best experienced in FPP (different opinions)
- The potential for being immersed is much higher in FPP, all the NPCs have their daily tasks and you will observe them more intimately, as I already said... walking down the street you will see every NPC and every texture with a lot more detail, FPP is more natural for humans as we see the world in this way.
- CD PROJEKT RED thinks it works best for this game so we should trust them and follow their lead!

In order to look forward to something for x amount of years it is not required to be an active member of a forum for x amount of years. Also it is common for people to be disappointed, some more so than others when what they have been dreaming of and imagining for quite a while is revealed to be something that for them drastically alters what they were expecting. This can make for a sad experience, it doesn't mean there is something wrong with the person rather it means that they are passionate and care about the subject at hand.

I know people who cried tears of joy when they saw the E3 trailer because what they saw fit the image they had created in their minds, it is human to experience joy and sadness.

I'm sure CDPR will make an exceptional game and I'll be purchasing day one, hoping for the best.

I really want to like it. I love the Cyberpunk setting. I love the more colorful approach, since it's one of the few "not-all-dark-and-rainy" approaches on the dystopian future. I don't even care if it's an 80s style retro future GTA rpg.
But First Person is a killer. I got motion sickness, I can't even play for a few minutes, still I start to get headaches and start to puke. I want to love it. But it looks like I am out.

You completely misunderstood my point.

Also, quoting myself for people who think motion sickness is BS.

One more thing - third person will be in SOME cutscenes. They have been very vague and cagey about it. It sounds like most/some/half? of the cutscenes will be FPP.
for me they are hater rockstar fanboy

Am i the only one stressed that the controls, movement and general gameplay mechanics end up being just like Deus Ex ? The thought honestly terrifies me, Deus Ex is hands down one of the worst games I have ever played solely based on how horrid the movement / gameplay is in that game and I saw IGN compare it to Deus Ex.

Honestly hope it is nothing like it.

I would be cool if the movement / gunplay etc is similar to Destiny and as for the concerns regarding all the customization options and how pointless it'd be to create your own character if you barely get the chance to see it in all it's glory...well again hopefully they implement some features like destiny where you can at least admire your character in 3rd person when you feel like it.

My only concerns I have.

That is a good question. One also compares it to existing games. FP is mostly shooters like Call of Duty or even Far Cry. GTA was always TP until the GTAV on PS4 PRO, which had both. With GTAV, it is almost in the basis of "It's up to you". In some games, that is also a shooter, it carries a FP look at the world as you travel, but a TP cover system like Rainbow Six: Vegas. It would be something to have FP for the sci-fi world thou. Imagine being in the world of Blade Runner, how you look at every inch of a city and its culture. So, FP is ideal by the end, however, it can use both if the system is like RS:V.

Well, i wont rule out them maybe.. adding it in since all the complaints are fresh, they certainly seemed to know they were getting a ton of backlash though. Hopefully when they sit down after this they will decide to be nice to a large amount of people that would LOVE to and already were planning buy their game before this was announced...

Ill still hold out hope because how much i love CDPR, but if they go forward not doing it oh well, itll just suck i guess for some of us.

Food for thought, you want Cyberpunk to appeal to a large audience including casuals? and you want the relationship to last several years?

The next FPS game that comes out, your casual gamer will drop Cyberpunk for in an instant.

then only the hardcore gamers will stick with it, because they understand the differences what they like between a RPG and a FPS, a casual gamer may only take the perspective similarities into consideration and go looking for the next new thing maybe a New Deus Ex comes along or the System Shock sucessor or even a Judge Dredd game, comes out or even just COD, Overwatch, Battlefield, Battlefront games etc.

Much like how a lot of casuals swapped Pubg for Fortnite and other BR games in almost an instant because Fortnite was the “in thing”or whatever, the despite games having differences, you can see it happen very quickly.

You know how many big TPP (RPG or not) Cyberpunk Openworld games out there are? Not Many.

Of course I am probably talking rubbish, just a fear of mine.

Again, my personal sympathies, for what they're worth.

They aren't implementing FPP to appeal to people. They are doing it for immersion. That's their own words.

In other words, it was a creative decision, not a financial one.

TP !!!!!

CD PROJEKT I PROTEST !!!!!!

HOW A GAME OF THIS CALIBER CAN HAVE PESPECTIVE IN 1 PERSON ?????
I CALL UP FOR THAT QUESTION OF PESPECTIVE TECHNIQUE FOR ALL THE BEAUTY OF THE WITCHER 3 IN AN OPEN WORLD WAS THANKS TO THE PESPECTIVE OF 3 PEOPLE

THE EXPERIENCE WILL NOT BE ANYWHERE, MY DECEPTION AFTER THIS CONFIRMATION WAS TREMENDENT TO THE POINT OF US GIVE OFF TO BUY ITS GAME, BELIEVE THAT MANY WILL ALSO AGREE TO ME, YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT AND BACK AGAIN, THE GAME IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT.

SO I ASK YOU TO RELEASE BEFORE 2077

i dont remember hearing them say they wont take any feedback about TPP while watching them, besides a dev or w/e posted on here that they are listening to feedback about TPP anyway

As a nerd Polack born in early 80's my teenage years were moulded by Witcher books and pen and paper rpgs like Warhammer and Cyberpunk 2020. From the day they announced CP2077 I was excited like hell. "First Witcher and now Cyberpunk? Holy Cow, God is real". For 5 years I was living with dream of making pc as my waifu... Major Kusanagi. In my dreams I saw exploring Night City as her. Looking at her ideal cyborg booty swaying hypnotic when she is walking down the street. And now my dreams are shattered. Kill me now, there is no reason for me to live anymore. 5 years of waiting and I feel like someone just reap my heart out. I was almost crying tears of joy when I saw trailer 2 days ago. Now Im seriously crying in the pillow, but those are not tears of joy.

one important thing to point out is that an optional third person mode would require the redesign of a lot of systems, probably even the levels. it's a lot of work and if it turns out to be sub-par it's also not gonna help the game.

I know first person players do not understand why this is such a big deal or even a deal breaker. For a FPS fan a TP game means less accurrate shooting and maybe less immersion but the game is still playable; however for people that do not play FPS games a FPS is (i want to say handicap but not quite) an issue even to move, calculate depth, distance and affects how to relate to the surroundings, environment and everything else in the game.
That clunckiness is manageable while exploring but in the middle of combat it works as an aditional annoyance.

For example the limited view on a shooting adds an additional step as the player has to identify where fire is comming from while dealing with an uncomftable field of view and movement mechanics. Say you are being shot from behind, you see blood on the bottom of your screen so that ´s behind, you turn to return fire, oh look there was a colum, wall, chair there because the player turned to the left instead of the right... have to resposition again to take cover but can´t actually see the character´s body.
Or say you are on a stealth mission. FPP forces you to use your map to keep tabs on the ammount of enemies and their relative positions or it´s like attempting it blind. Say the player is focusing on taking down an enemy, walks right behind him and surprise, there was another enemy on the player´s 9 completly out of the field of view with FPP.

That´s not an enjoyable challenge as it´s not really inteded as such by the devs, it´s plain simply a problem for some people and it´s something that can´t be solved by adjusting difficulty settings or avoiding an inconveninet mechanic as much as possible (like say... the tank battles in arkham knight). In old games a player would do it enough times and figure the patterns but not only have AI improved and are smart enough to have a few dynamic variations now... the games are huge, specially RPGs like the one CDP is making so i imagine this scenario would repeat over and over. If it was just a mechanic the player could always choose not to use it or engage on the particular challenges intended for say racing, but it´s not, it´s something that affects the interaction with the whole game and if a player does not enjoy that it would affect the whole experience provided that the games is not just dropped.

My point, and sorry if this has become a WOT, is that It´s not just a cosmetic thing or a whim to be able to look at the character one created and all the nice design and animations (thought that´s always a plus) but more of something that´s really definitive on how the player interacts with every aspect of the game. That´s a valid reason to be dissapointed and skip on a game.

I am really hopping that since the proyect is still in development and this is CDP page they´ll reconcider and give us both switchable POVs so we, the players, are able to choose how to experience the game.
