Journey Ending Time has been cut by 7 days and new player just brought fast travel before that.

+
During the past 3-4 days, the time remaining for current Journey was 21 days and today it shown only 11 days. It has been cut by 7 days.

This is not an issue to me because my journey level is 100+ now, however, there is a new player who post a question in local forum. He asked whether he should purchase the journey premium and he wants to reach level 100.

I did a math to him on that day which 21 days left and unfortunately, he has to play like 40-50 cp / day which he can't do it.
Then, he asked what if he purchase the fast travel to level 25? I did another math and he can get level 100 eventually with 28-32 cp / day which is doable.

The problem is, cutting 7 days from the journey period cause both me and him a problem here -- he can't finish level 100 despite that he brought the fast travel and I also feel extremely bad because I gave him an information which it end up obviously the wrong one now.

Do we have any updates what's going here? and is it possible for him to collect Journey Level to 100?

Burza just confirmed that there is no compensation in TWIG for the shorten Journey. I really sad and I doubt that how many other players are in the same boat with a new player I mentioned above.

The fixes can be:
1. extend the time back
2. if cannot extend the time, give double crown pieces bonus
3. maybe just give those players a free boost e.g. 5 levles (14 bonus cp x 7 days around 120cp or 5 levels) to those who are level less than 100
4. or just give the compensate bonus to those who purchased premium journey and haven't reach level 100.
5. maybe just unlock those ornaments and give to their accounts
6. or give an option to collect both journey level if level < 100. if > 100, just 2 cp / level.

no.. but no fix. Since there is no fix then, players have no choice and have to buy the expensive fast travel while it's not players fault.

This cause a bad feeling to me even I'm not under level < 100. I quite worry about the chat screen during Gwent Open today.

4. or just give the compensate bonus to those who purchased premium journey and haven't reach level 100.
How can you not reach lvl 100 in 12 weeks? I don't get this. I'm at lvl 80 (free jurney) and i was taking a break for 3-4 weeks + all the weekends. If i bought premium today, i would instantly jump to lvl 110.

It 100% is players fault. It's called "bad planing skills".

Not entirely sure but you could probably ask for a refund.
(Depending on where you live, if the purchase was made during the last 14 days.)

Although the Journey pass is not explicitly mentioned in the GWENT User Licence Agreement, I think that the term Virtual Goods also refers to cosmetics which can only be unlocked after purchasing the pass and for the duration of it.

There are different kind of gamers. I bought all the Journeys to support the game, but I coudn't finish the last 3. For me cutting 7 days makes no big difference, as I'm not set to reach level 100. I don't really care, but I think - as good practice - the Devs should stick to the rules they set at the beginning of the Battle Pass.

I could ask you the reverse question: "how can you reach lvl 100 with free Journey in only 12 weeks?"
....but then I remember that people reached 175 lvl with Ciri! :coolstory:

You don't understand my point. The new player just started playing Gwent recently. If he brought the Fast Travel 25 Levels and collects the CP daily until the end of the original Journey deadline then he can make level 100+. But CDPR shortened the Journey Time for 7 days just 2 days after he brought the Fast Travel. This make him can't reach level 100 by the first calculation. My point is, if CDPR make an announcement earlier that the Journey will be shortened. Then, he's not only buy the fast travel but he won't buy the journey premium in the first place.

"how can you reach lvl 100 with free Journey in only 12 weeks?"
Reaching lvl 70 (without quests, free quests give you 30 lvls) takes exactly 60 days, assuming you get the well rested bonus every day. So if you want to get free lvl 100, you have to work for it, but it's not difficult at all. It takes roughly 90 min a day for 2/3 of the standard jurney duration.
If you bought premium you only need lvl 40 and that takes 35 days.

If someone decides to buy premium with the intention to grind for 6 hours a day and finish just on time, that's just bad planing. If you're buying jurney, you should finish it early. Trying to consistently get more than 28 crowns a day is IMO unreasonable.

I don't know how CDPR wants to deal with this, but i think the should not compensate everyone, only players who would reach 100 with 1 more week of reasonable play rate (that means lvl 90+ on patch day). Or they could just give 240 crown points to everyone.

You know, a warning would be nice "Because we made a sudden decision and cut the journey short, you won't be able to reach its end by any means except for buying the progress". Or they could just take the premium pass off the shelf. Yet even today I've got the pop-up offer to buy the premium pass, because "the journey ends soon". Which is twice as strange since I've bought the pass on day 1 and was step 100 today before playing.
This is even worse than Ciri's journey, where the top contract was 175 - at least you knew that from the start and could plan for earning enough crowns a day if you needed that.

What is anyone's "reasonable playrate" isn't for CDPR to decide. So they should compensate everyone not on step 100 on the day before the journey ends. Maybe not with the pass' cost, but at least with the "stolen" crowns.

It takes roughly 90 min a day for 2/3 of the standard jurney duration.
90 min a day could be considered as an unreasonable amount of time or completely manageable depending on the person you'd ask. It's subjective.

I don't think that moving the deadline of a subscription or of another limited time offer is good practice. If someone decides to install Gwent and buy the premium Journey the last two weeks and play X amount of hours each day, it's just their businness.

I don't mind the Journey shortening since I bought it entirely on day 1 (lvl 100) and reached 190 as of today. But still, it sucks that they did not communicate this issue and that they did not think of a way to reward players (not necessarily me, I can do without it) that now cannot finish it and get all the rewards. I find it only normal that, if you change the length of a service bought beforehand, this needs to be properly communicated and a proper compensation should be enacted as well.

This just leads me to believe that the Gwent team does not regard the Journey as one would regard a Battle Pass, or a subscription service. Cause if they did, they wouldn't have treated this the way they are doing now.

As for Burza implying that enough communication is being done... maybe that is correct, but it all boils down to nothing if the important pieces of information that concern all active players are not properly communicated. The plan to shorten the journey could've been disclosed on TWiG, on a forum thread and then distributed on social media. I am quite sure this decision was not thought on the spot recently.

I agreed that the communication schedule is already in-place but the action that CDPR delivers it can be better. I am curious when CDPR already realize that they want to do the shortened journey. If this has been planned ahead like more than 1 month,

what if? let me ponder this:

- During the first Developer Update, they have the first time to make an announcement. If Ryan or anyone brings this up and says something like "and we have some good news and bad news. The bad news is we are going to shorten the Journey time by 7 days in order to deliver the next journey and Halloween event at the same time. This is not so great to the players who are under level 100 at this moment but the good news is we will do something that we never did before -- a one time fast travel gift to all players for '+10 Journey Level'. However, this is only the one shot and very very rare to happen again. Let's celebrate the new journey and enjoy the nice event together." Then, when the players log in Gwent, there is a message pop-up like "let's celebrate and get ready for the Halloween Event together we hope you will enjoy and ... and this is +10 level of journey. Then, a Splash Screen like we did daily quest +10 Journey Levels and click ok. woosh (sound effect the level boost.)

Well, maybe CDPR will have this shortened journey after that. CDPR can have Burza deliver the message instead of Ryan during TWIG and can add a message like "don't buy the fast travel now. wait for the free one-time fast travel next Tuesday first.

However, I don't know the details of how hard this is gonna be and the impact or consequence for granting free stuff to players like fast travel +10 level may cause CDPR to lose money or not. But Still, the previous action that there is nothing to compensate for the shortened journey also impacts some players who will be decided to purchase the next journey premium, too. I'm looking forward to hear any further updates from CDPR after this Monday discussion.

The question is, how many people will be buying journey next month, wondering if it will be randomly shortened again, and therefore non being able to complete it ?

If I have to guess, I will guess that the next journey character is too good that CDPR doesn't fear the consequence of cutting the journey short and saying (kind of arrogantly) that 'deal with it'. It should be either Regis or Shani both of whom are fan favourites. If it is some random character like Alzur, this move might have some impact on their sales. Of course, all guessing only.

It seems that all players get +5 Journey Level. Thanks for the compensation. One of my friend will support the game by purchase the fast travel for the missing level though. I plan to buy the next journey premium on day 1, too.

Yes, that's a nice move. But my mom got no crowns for some reason (and, unlike me, she could spend those 10 extra RPs on some reward trees). Maybe it's still in the works for some.
