Killing the Operator easily on any difficulty
I don't usually start threads, but this was one of the greatest things that I've found in the game. It's possible to easily kill the Operator on Dark mode, even as a level 1 character. That means that it's possible to kill him no matter what your build is.
All you need are some snares. I usually pick up a ton (60 or so) in Flotsam and throw them into storage so that I can kill the Draug with them easily like in this thread, but I was wondering if it would be possible to kill anything else with them. I used 35 or so for this, but it likely takes fewer than that.
Here's the trick: You quicksave on the stairs before the conversation, hold shift, and inch closer to the room, quicksaving each time until you can't get any closer. Then you lay down every snare you have, hitting R like some kind of letter-obsessed psycho. I suppose it's also possible to run behind a pillar and set them, since he doesn't seem to chase you behind the pillars. What's important is that you set the snares so that they're in the room. Here's where they ended up being set when I inched into the room:
Then once the fight begins, you herd him into the traps. He teleports around and you don't want to do too much damage and have to deal with the gargoyles, so it's important to use a silver sword and fast attacks. If you hit him and he starts to put up a shield while you're standing next to him, he'll actually end up moving backward, so you can use both your attack and his shield in order to push him in the right direction. Once the shield goes down, you attack him some more and eventually push him onto your huge pile of traps. Here's a video (no sound, sadly, which I'll figure out the reason for someday):

And for those of you who want to try for yourself and feel like total badasses by putting that fireball-shooting bastard in his place, here's my save on the stairs, before any traps were set:
