To no great surprise the next intersection is a 4-way, as is the next (( I'll assume you'll keep moving until and unless you run across something that needs investigation )). About 1/4th the way around the building [apx. 1/2 way to your goal] everyone stops when they hear voices and people knocking on doors up ahead ... an apartment by apartment search???

Talon slows to try and focus in on where the noise is coming from - raising a hand to slow the rest of the team as well. Is there another 4-way intersection up ahead that it sounds like the knocking and people are coming from- from one of the "crossroads"? Are there any recognizable phrases being said that would indicate their intent?

The team is to far away from the activity to positively identify exactly what it is.

Knocks (probably on doors), voices in the distance echoing down fairly barren halls. You'd have to get closer, or wait for them to get closer to you, to get more then the "something is happening ahead" that you have now.

"Lets keep going. Don't engage if you can avoid it."

Talon continues down the hallway, straining his sense to notice any threats that may appear. In his mind he could weave through the inner halls of this floor and try to reach the stairs without confrontation, but the longer he stays here the worse things will get. Better to just take the fastest route and deal with the consequences.

The team continues ahead, slowing a bit as everyone strains to hear exactly what's going on up there.

Finally you get close enough (still not in line-of-sight) to determine that yes, there's an apartment-by-apartment search going on up there. Now what? Seems you have, in fact, kicked over a bee hive.

*OOC: Taking into account that this isn't the exact route Talon took from the stairs on this floor, how far does Talon think the stairs are from where the team currently is?

(( Apx. 75m ... on the other side of the disturbance. So close you can taste it, yet out of reach if you're to avoid being seen. ))

The choice between seeking a covert route to the stairs, and risking more and more surveillance appearing vs taking the quick route and being near guaranteed to be found weighs on Talons mind. If it were just him, the choice would be easy, but with a crew it comes slowly.

Speaking quietly to the team, Talon asks, "Alright peeps, looks like we need to make a run for it. The stairs aren't far, but we'll likely be seen when we run through. If we can get to the second floor we can get out from the exterior windows, but we'll likely have a tail at that point. Sound good?"

(( FYI, it's a LOT closer to just continue down to the ground floor then make your way to the outer walls on the building where there may be windows. BUT ... it'll be a lot easier for them to cut you off on the ground floor because that's probably where most of them are. Soooo ... ))

*OOC: That was a big part of the thought process. It wouldnt surprise me if they were screening everyone as they reached the 1st floor. Hopefully this path avoids them entirely.

"Then let's go. Ready, Set. Fly." Activating preemptively both his Adrenal Boosters and Speedware, Talon takes off at a run down the hall towards the stairwell. He knows his top speed is much higher than his team so he aims to keep his pace at a speed that his team can keep up with. He'll save his top speed to deal with anyone who manages to get in the way.

(( Assuming Hernando and Shed follow at the best speed they can ... ))

As Talon flies down the hall up ahead he hears the previous noise stop ... apparently they hear him coming (( running footsteps do kinda echo down basically bare halls )) then just before they come into sight he hears someone yell; "Here they come!"

As Talon bursts into sight he sees two gangers armed with handguns (( what type he's unsure, he's only getting a quick glance )) both raising them in his direction and a third drawing what appears to be a katana. One gunman is directly ahead (4m) another a bit to Talons left near gunman #1 (5m) the swordsman is to Talons right almost 90 degrees to the other two (4m).

Hermando and Shed are about 10m behind Talon (( damn Talon moves fast! )).

Rodik imagines perhaps he should have waited to lay eyes on the search party before sprinting, but Talons impatience and maybe a bit of desire to get a few more blows in on ganger trash made this seem the better course.

Thinking to try keep this from turning into a drawn out gunfight, Talon leaps at gunman #1 aiming to deliver a powerful kick on both him and gunman #2 in quick succession. There's no time to intentionally aim for nonlethal blows- hopefully their hardy enough not to die. He'll have to hope that the direct attack is enough to startle the swordsman for now.
