Strange proxy LOD and draw distance behavior

Cutting LOD's for some proxy meshes, like Kaer Morhen tree proxies and non-SpeedTree grass proxies, results in the game loading only the highest quality 0-level LOD's and increasing autoHideDistance mesh parameter does exactly what it should - increases proxy mesh draw distance. That's also normal behavior for non-proxy meshes and what one expects from making those changes.


However, doing the same to other proxy meshes, such as Novigrad's architecture, results in proxies loading only in close proximity to player and autoHideDistance mesh parameter adjustment does nothing to change that behavior.

Any idea why proxy meshes for foliage and architecture differ in their behavior? Any way to know the case for each proxy mesh without trial/error experimentation?

It appears 0-level LOD in Proxies is empty, probably because that's the point at which actual non-proxy mesh is loaded.
