River has fully voiced romance dialogue and options too.
You can turn it back on with a single line of code.

I'm guessing that since they weren't able to complete romance options for female V they decided to cut it out to make sure both genders have equal options.

Recorded voice lines literally mean nothing. It was just a part of development until the final decision was made.

If you pay attention to the sex scene, you can clearly see that this sweet and intimate moment was created for two females. Hell, you can even see the hand clipping through because of the male proportions.

I honestly believe all of them were at one point considered to be player sexual or maybe Judy was meant to be straight at a certain point? but somewhere in development entirely defined to be straight, gay and lesbian.
Don't think its due to time constraints that it didn't happen, seen as they went all out in Judy's case to make her backstory very prominently lesbian leaning. To me at least that looks to have been a decision that defined the standard that ended up released in her case.

Personally I feel at this point it wouldn't be a good idea to backtrack, it would kind of be an insult to many that already have a connection to these characters as they are, because all of them would need to be changed if you change one of them. Probably the investment will be going towards introducing new romances and hopefully expanding on the current along with their friendship to V.

But yes the files are there, am sure people will find many more dialogue and residue that was scraped in the end product. Some might see a comeback, doubt this will be one of it, this bit if people really want will prolly be done with modding.

I don't really care either way. They can swing both ways or not, it matters little. What really upsets me is the unfinished job they did with River. It's so obvious and striking when compared to Judy or Panam (not that they can't use some more improvements). My straight V couldn't care less if River's hooking up with a male V in somebody else's game.

The romance is so hard to find (unless you actively look for it), there's hardly any flirting in between and then the... nothingness that follows. Considering everything that goes in to V's life, at least a message here and there... A dinner date? Booty call? I would have preferred some fade to black kisses as long as it felt like a complete story.

Kerry "romance" have the same problem. They didn't even try to pretend that they cared about the male romance options. And they had the nerve to say "we put effort into all of our romances." Right...
(Sorry, I needed to vent, lol)

Pretty much.......... they won't drop this anytime soon and now they'll think it's "cut content that should have been in game" when everything points to opposite (ie Judy's past being only about women and the famous lesbian joke and sex animation)

Here's to hoping they'll add more content for Kerry and River romances in future dlcs. It's only fair. :ok:

Completely agree with you. I loved the really great DATE you go on with Judy under water. It was a good set up for what was more to come. But freaking HATE how FAST she forgives you after...

she get so very upset with you for the killing of her associate in the save the dolls mission.

There should have been way more interaction to heal the feelings before the water date and "love". The way it happen in game was too jarring. I keep thinking she was going to have some trap to ambush me while out in the middle of nowhere.

I'll just copy paste what I wrote in a different place about this situation.

"Cut content" yeah, sure. Literally the same thing happened with ME1 and 2. Ashley had romance voice lines with FemShep and Tali with FemShep in 2 and yet, they were still straight. BioWare once explained that this is how recording lines work. They edit this stuff later. So no, CDPR didn't CUT anything.

Also, in that "romance" there's still a lesbian joke and Carol at the end literally says "leave you girls to it". Not to mention that sex scene is literally made for two women, not like Panam and Male V where penetration is heavy implied. And saying male V "doesn't have to use his junk" is just a laughable and desperate excuse.

Some men honestly can't handle the fact that some women aren't into them? They has to call conspiracies and whatnot? Let lesbians be happy that they have a beautiful and fair represenations finally in a game, while hetero men and women had plenty for years, not to mention romance options as well.

Yeah, I'm really glad that my lesbian friends have a amazing romance option like Judy for once (I really love her). I just wished that Kerry and River had received the same quality and care that her and Panam.

It seems like the whole romance part of the game as well as sex, prostitution, etc, was all severally cut down and abandoned. Its a bit ridiculous you can see all these 18+ districts in the city with absolutely nothing to do in them. There are also countless sex/porn ads all over the city yet none of that is reflected in the actual gameplay content; it just feels really unfinished.

This is reminds me of some cut content found in ME Trilogy, where FemShep had the chance to romance Ash and Miranda and Tali, and MaleShep, Kaidan, Thane and Garrus. Turns out, the devs had recorded the lines, made some of the scenes because there was bug in programming their tools that made romance not work if they did not do this.

In all honesty, I think at one point all the characters were available to both genders. What I think happened

was gonna write this but you did a better job than me. Thanks

A small addition, the reason of ME 1 having romance scene and voice for Ash and FemShe is because it was a bug in the core programming that got carried through the entire franchise later. To fix the issue in a ME 1 without breaking the dialogue system, they did this and turned it off.

Generally, recording starts when most of the story is done but most of it never ends in the final release becasue the story is different then plus from the animation, which is mocaped, you can clearly see Judy's hand clip and the entire things is way sensual to be made for a Male V romance.

Serious question as well - because I haven't seen anything in the news about it or on these forums;

In the past there have been games edited or changed for different reasons often involving depicting same sex relationships (I think Indonesia was a big one for these previously). Some countries blocking sale outright if changes weren't made.

I wonder if they're in to hedge their bets in case they needed to edit them in a hurry to get through classification?

The censeorship in this game is, mostly, due to Microsoft and Sony's rules about publishing games on their consoles.

Judy is clearly portrayed as being lesbian through her story, having a crush on the girl she stole a doll from when she was little, and on Maiko. Also there is gender specific dialogue during the nomad ending for V and Judy calling them “girls”.

the voice lines for female V romancing Panam are also present because she only needs V to have a male body, they probably planned to do the same for Judy but changed it at some point.
