Will there be a Cyberpunk movie made by CDPR?

Hey,
as mentioned in the title, will there be a movie from the Cyberpunk universe made by CDPR?

I remember reading something along these lines some time ago, but I don't recall nearly anything.
Have there been any updates?

And since this is a post on the forum, what would you like to see?
Feel free to be as specific as you want. Details matter :)

With all due respect, I'm not so fond of movies anymore. I prefer videogames. Way more appealing. The devs are working on a couple of videogames right now, so just have to wait for those.

Why though? Because they are interactive? Because they can be played in various orders? Because a player's opinions "matter" (dialogue options,...)?
The pros of movies I see are they can be more coherent, the flow (story pacing, switching scenes,...) can be better, the motivation (inspiration, high-level concepts, "the final message",...) behind it may be more easily understood, etc...

That, and you control the character(s). A game can be different every time you play it contrary to a movie. Movies simply aren't good enough (anymore) to drag me into the story much less entertain me.

True, suppose, but one con about movies is that, in a bid to mimic reality as much as possible, lots of entertainment factors needed to bit the dust, with a very stale, content-less, boring, end product as a result.

It could be interesting to have a social-punk-themed movie about Mikoshi and Relics being more frequently used (the way they meant to, to portray the dead), their influence on society and everyday life, rebellion against them (both physical and psychical), and stories of people lost under psychological pressure. The name could be Cyberpunk: Lost Souls.

Imagine scenes like walking on a crowded street with some "people" being only projections from the relic, or playing football and falling into shock, because the relic stimulated your brain with a vision of your grandpa getting injured in a similar situation, hallucinating memories and past experiences (e.g. a person with no artistic talent could easily learn to draw because their relative on the relic was great painter,...)

While I would love and welcome a tv show or series of films from the cb77 world, I don't have a lot of confidence in movie studios to make good movies. Or tv shows. Its extremely rare that good films are made anymore. Extremely rare.

there's a 90% chance that a cb77 movie or tv series (god forbid, purchased by Amazon!) would be an embarrassment. Best to just leave it as video games made by the original creators, rather than selling the rights to some hollywood execs who are interested only in a paycheck and push out rubbish (see Rings of Power, Dune Prophecy, etc).

I would rather prefer another anime like Edgerunner... Live-action aren't very good generally :(
They are working with Netflix on another anime.

For the live-action, I hope for a "small" story, like the "Dream on" quest, I don't care about cyberware and action, we already have the game for that, and it often feels cheap in movies/series.

I think CDPR were in negotiations with one of the big services (Netflix or Amazon Prime) to work a live-action project based on CP2077...whether a movie (good) or a series (better) I don't know.

I do hope they don't just re-tell the events of the game, and either take a different spin or come up with new plots we haven't seen yet. Some ideas:

"Cyberpunk 2077: Jackie" (Prequel to the game showing Jackie's ascent into the Valentinos through Padre, and subsequently leaving them)

"Cyberpunk 2077: T-Bug" (Prequel showing young T-Bug coming up as a Netrunner, getting involved with Dex and saving his ass in Pacifica)

"Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma" (Crossover Cyberpunk and medical drama centered on a crew working for Trauma Team)

"Cyberpunk 2077: Postcards From Night City" (Anthology Series where each 10-episode season is a new story line, so we get to see new stories each season, possibly with some of the characters and events from previous seasons (or from the game) intersecting in the newer seasons)

Lots of possibilities in this.

More movie or tv series ideas:

"Cyberpunk 2077: Who makes the best sushi?" A young man who learned sushi preparation from his grandfather using traditional methods, and only natural human body parts VS an upstart sushi chef who uses cyberware chrome modifications for their hands and arms to achieve precise fish cutting techniques never before seen.

"Cyberpunk 2077: Priesthood" A young man who recently completed his priest training wants to use his life savings, including his inheritance from his extended family, to build a new christian church in Night City. But its 2077 and the % of people who identify as Christians has fallen to 0.001% of the population. The priest struggles with his faith, and the decision about whether to build the church.

"Cyberpunk 2077: Unification War" Follows Scorpion and Craig during basic boot camp, and getting retrofitted so they can pilot the panzer tanks in mexico. And the war.

"Cyberpunk 2077: Netrunners" A light hearted, slice of life tv show that follows a teenaged netrunner. Think like Ed from Cowboy Bebop, but set in the CB77 world. Nothing too heavy. Just some kid who wants to be a great netrunner like Barco someday.

"Cyberpunk 2077: Netwatch" >>> self explanatory. Follows an elite netwatch team who focuses on preventing the rogue AIs from escaping the black wall.

"Cyberpunk 2077: Gangwars" TV show that follows the major gangs. 6th street, voodoo boys, maelstrom. Think like, HBO's 'The Wire', but in cyberpunk. But with very little focus on the cops and almost all focus on the gangs.

"Cyberpunk 2077: Too Cyberpunk, Too Furious" focuses on street racing.

"Cyberpunk 2077: Mad Max" Mad Max in cb77 badlands.

whew! thanks for listening to my Ted Talk

I have thought about making my own version of a cyberpunk drama, just in my own universe and since I can't get rights to cyberpunk. I certainly hope there will be a live action. honestly could care less about V, just want to see Jackie Welles

The potential for series, movies, clips and TV shows is definitely there. Edgerunners was a good foray into that area and "proof of concept", I guess.

I'd prefer another anime series rather than a movie. The anime style combines well with Cyberpunk

I'd love to see a cyberpunk genre film where they try to replicate the look of the original bladerunner film from the 70s. And use old school film cameras instead of digital. Send out actual film reels to the movie theaters.
