Witcher 3 Game Pass save files

Hello

I’ve just downloaded Witcher 3 using the Xbox game pass. I don’t think I’m going to keep the game pass but I’m really enjoying Witcher 3 and wondered if I buy the game or purchase it as a download would I be able to use the save file that I have created using the game pass version of it? I’m already several hours in and don’t really want to start from the beginning if I don’t renew my game pass.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with Game Pass. But if you are on Xbox, continuing the Xbox Game Pass version on Xbox shouldn't be an issue. Also, see the official Xbox Game Pass FAQ: https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/subscriptions-billing/manage-subscriptions/xbox-game-pass-faq

As for Game Pass on PC, the FAQ says this: "However, once a game leaves the Xbox Game Pass catalog, you’ll need to purchase a digital copy from the Xbox (Beta) app or the Microsoft Store, play from a disc, or obtain another form of entitlement to continue playing the game." I'm not 100% sure how compatible Game Pass PC version will be with the Steam/GOG version. It's also a question where the save games are stored and if it's the same as the one that Steam/GOG uses.

Alas, I just found out that it is not possible to use the savegame from Witcher 3/gamepass, for the Witcher-GOT edition. So I have to start anew in order to play the dlc the way I wanted it to..
