Do you want more RPGs with happy endings?

If they decided that the relic will kill V, and it totally makes sense, there's no choice you can take that should lead to an happy ending for V. Which is also a main part of the dark future where CP77 is set in. In the end, you choose how V wants to die, and I think it's cool,

IMHO most folks who pay 60$ to pre-order a massively hyped RPG come in with a expectation of either getting some form of closure to a story that they are emotionally invested in or in the best case scenario walk out with a shit eating grin after a satisfying ending, mind you the ending doesn't necessarily need to be a happy one. IMO people don't play 100 hours of a RPG to go down as a footnote in a fictional universe.

Also the game doesn't give you the impression that you are choosing your way out. It gives you the illusion that you are chossing your way to survive.

That's biggest issue I have with this game. I HATE wasted effort, doing something only to realize that I did it for nothing, that I wasted my time doing it when it didn't make any difference whatsoever.

I'd rather go back and sink another several hundred hours into Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, The Witcher 3, etc. than to even think about playing this game a second time for even an hour at this point.

Right now this game has no replayability for me. Unless they address this issue with DLC, there will never be any. I waited 8 freaking years for this game, that hurts. A LOT.
I can still replay this game, but man it takes a bit. I love doing everything there is to offer, but now knowing that everything I will do has almost zero consequence/impact on V ultimately. It sucks. I'm not going to push my narrative or headcanon onto the lore of things. But surely I'm not the only one who waited years to become this ultimate cyborg badass who was going to becoming a living legend in the city of legends. Instead, I got a terminal disease and a poor mans version of Russian roulette.

It's weird but this game makes me feel bad for living. You make friends, they're going to watch you die. You romance someone, again you're going to die very soon or just ghost them - and die. V is literally murdering mass amounts of people to survive and yet they can't. It's such a waste. You're a walking talking corpse, and the game doesn't let you become anything more than that. Your connections mean nothing, your wealth means nothing, you mean nothing; again, might as well have just died in the dump.

Life is not fair. Not our own lives nor the dystopian cyberpunk lives of V and Rogue and Johnny. "We need more prostitutes and fuckbudy options, but the ending needs to be less depressing!" You want it mature are dark and dystopian and adult or not?

BTW all of the 6 months to live - endings are open. Dark yes, but still open. The only one where V truly dies is the suicide one.

I mean there's literally what, seven endings proving the point that life isn't fair? Yet not a one where it's life isn't fair but here have some more life. Die the way you actually want to go out, and not the way the story has shunted you into. I really hope it's 'open' and they live, but it's a bit eh...

In this post some have written that the ending does not reflect the choices made in the game. In my opinion this is not the case. Since the initial choice, the game has taken your choices into consideration. Even during the final act we can choose
1) whether to let V survive, at least for six theoretical months
2) give way to Jhonny
3) to bring our memory to life by abandoning our body
Isn't there a happy ending? I wonder there must be? Not all games end with a happy ending.
As I had already written in the course of the game it is understood that the ending would have been this. V was dying, in many scenes it is clear, so there was room for few interpretations. Honestly I was not disappointed with the endings. But a little short story, there had to be more acts. Nothing detracts from the fact that it is a wonderful game.

I just remembered Blade Runner 2049

Just like K our V is baited along with a string of false hopes and empty promises, only to die in the end, while making barely any difference.

True the endings could be open or could just be plain bad. As it was said 100 of times before, having a dark world doesn't mean the adventure in it has to end in a dark way.

Many including me have already stated many times that the issue is not necessarily that there isn't a happy ending. Tho many people would like to see one and I think we have seen often enough that games without happy nding options suffer quite a bit.
The issue is how the game handles the storytelling in the end. Just as the built up of our relationship with Jackie, them tells us, doesn't show us.
I was fine with my arasaka 6 month ending up until I realised that I don't get to say goodbye to my friends and loved ones ingame.

Only offering shit endings in a game marketed for mass appeal is not mature/dark/dystopian - it's lazy writing that caters to immature teens during their edgelord years and has nothing to do with a good story. Especially when it's not a book or a movie, but an rpg game, that promises meaningful choices and multiple outcomes.

But the only thing we can choose, is in which way we want to die. Either immediately, or 6 months later.

Lol, 6 months to live when everyone is confirming that you're dying, including the Soulkiller creator, isn't an "open ending".

You may push your life expectancy to a year, nice, but you're still a dead man walking.

It's just death out of the screen, which isn't good writing and the reason why we have 200+ pages in this topic.

This. In all RPGs, if there's a 'good/happy' option for my protag, then I will actively work to get it. Even if it means doing all the content, or back during Mass Effect 3 where I'd have to do multiplayer to get a decent ending. Some people strive for that ending and do what it takes to get it. We don't even have that option here, there's zero drive or need to 100 percent the game because again, zero rewards.

how can there be any DLC if V is dead????
We get a cool jacket and few cars in mid game maybe.

Tbh, I was quite angry with Misty at the beginning when she off

Yeah, the 6 month endings are not a open ending tbf because in the game you literally exhaust all your options to cure yourself. Nothing left. Hints of hope are just wishful thinking still.

DLC before V's death, so you can expand on pointless stuff knowing you'll die anyway.
Like in real life.
Don't you get it ? "Cyberpunk" doesn't need hope and positive things according to some people in this thread.
Yeah, that's really going to make me want to buy the DLC. A DLC that literally has zero consequence, doesn't help me or aid me. From an RP perspective, what's the point dropping cash on story DLC when it gives nothing.

well there's another happy ending that was cut content that accidentally got left in the game in which V lives
I'm not sure if that's part of the DLC or not
like in the DLC you do stuff so you can live and not die in a few months
but it's interesting how they programmers accidentally left the happy ending DLC in the code
It's just the cut scene for it though and it's kind of random as we don't have the rest of the context, doesn't fit in with the story
maybe it was originally meant to be in the game, but they took out everything leading up to it, and decided to switch it from main game to DLC
and just left it in the code by accident for people to find if they look hard enough
or maybe they just forgot to take it out

The only case I will get mid game DLCs wihout fixes for the endings is if they include really awesome game features that would change my ingame experience to begin with.

Without major gameplay changes, and/or story expansion, I have no desire buying them.

What cutscene is that?

There's a random cutscene left in the game that doesn't appear in the main story.
A "drive off in the sunset" moment, where you see V in a car driving off into the distance and you hear V say "Back to a normal life"

I good be wrong but I think it's the "happy ending" that's supposed to be part of the DLC, but they accidentally left it in the main game
