This game should be rated down, DICE GAME! sucks hard

Neither of the games play exactly according to any of the usual rules for Dice Poker.

TW2 has better dice roll mechanics, where throwing the dice off the board if you are careless is a possibility. And not everybody likes the dice graphics, though I do. But the inadequate stakes and betting mechanics are turn-offs.

TW1's game, with more meaningful stakes and best-of-three play, is a more substantial game. If TW2 had just kept the stakes and play from TW1, it would be a better game.

Or if TW2 just had meaningful stakes and real dice poker rules (two re-rolls, you can't re-roll dice you didn't re-roll the first time).

I liked tw1 dice more although i must admit, save-scumming was inevitable.tw2 dicerolls was just "get those few rolls to finish the quest".

I was never a huge fan of the dice game but it seemed ok to me. And it's completely optional so I don't understand why the OP was so pissed off.

I'm not really sure which game the OP is referring to. If it's the dice game in the first Witcher game, then yeah. It sucked dick. I'm not gonna go into why but lets just say, considering you could save just before playing, it became a chore immediately.

But the thing that bugged me about it is that, here I am. A Witcher. I'm on this fucking interesting quest. I'm meeting awesome peeps all over the place. I'm a master swordsman. I can fucking kill insane monsters and enemies with ease. I can ingest toxic and lethal potions in order to heighten certain attributes.

Yet, despite all that. Here the fuck I am. Standing awkwardly next to Thaler. Spamming the throw button. Always betting the highest amount possible. Trying to earn a living.

I like the first Witcher game. For the story. Writing. The plot was awesome. Characters engaging. Locations fascinating. But the game design. Hoh boy...

Witcher 1 has elements of an MMO in it. I could really see that RED, even back then, were eager to make an open world game. But if the first Witcher is any indication, I'm worried as all shit for Witcher 3. I'm hoping RED has learned a bit from their previous games. Because playing the first game, was a chore. I was alt-tabbing down every 5 minutes to check the fucking wiki in order to make sure I didn't miss something. Convoluted and unintuitive are words that explain, not just the quest system, but the overall game design. It's pretty bad. They improved a lot in Witcher 2 so I've got faith but. An open world game is a beast of its own.

Haha, man. I hate the dice game in, honestly, both Witcher games so much, that I'm doubting the competence of RED making an open world game :p Now that's some fail right there. They've already said that the main way for you to get money in TW3 is going to be through, you know, fucking monster slaying! So that's positive news.

When I saw the topic title I was wondering why someone bash a DICE game on W2 forums or why isn't Witcher made by DICE.

Edit: But then...I lel'd.

In this interview, Michał Platkow-Gilewski said, that in TW3 will be something different from dice poker. One long and few small mini-games. Cards maybe? I remember, that in books dwarves played in card game.

Indeed they did. It could be great, but I will miss dice poker if it will absend completely.

But I hope, they won't use dwarven cards ;) ..

He must be tossing the dices out of the board. Maybe he does not know how to play. Maybe both...

sometimes i wish you could slap someone through the monitor for bein so arrogant, people who must have an iq low enough to understand that this crap is about luck and nothing to do with skill....

I GOT THE SAVIOUR! a CHEAT WHERE YOU ALWAYS WIN, MAN this would have saved me at least 1-2 hours .... cause i wanted all and still want all quests done also in the bonus missions, THANKS A MILLION i found it, yeeeehaww!

I agree with the peeps that say TW1 dice poker was much better than TW2's version. Although the dice physics were cool.

I like this bear.^^

I want Arcomage in TW3. The best mini-game I ever played in my life. :)

Seriously, dice poker in TW2 was quite simplistic, but OK. Dumb luck with minimal strategy. Sometimes I got a winning streak, sometimes an opponent got 4 or 5 of a kind for straight six games. Oh, mysteries of indeterminism! For me it was more funny than annoying. I guess you got to love Vegas to be cool about such things.

And this is most of the reasons of why people have such problems with games, They Buy a new game, what-ever it maybe, and instead of just installing it and playing it for what it is.... They have to get on and constantly Wiki stuff, so.....afraid that they will miss something. The designers of games create them that way to give us re-playabilty and the possibility to follow a different path(s) your next play through.

What is the point to Wiki everything on a brand new game, the first time you load it up? I sure as heck didn't pay my hard earned money for my Collectors TW2 edition just so I could look stuff up in a Wiki, I plan to play it again and again and again until I absolutely say enough is enough.

I think people need to get that " I have to Win the first time " attitude out of their game fun,

Cheers!

How about adding in Guess who or Operation..... playing operation with bodies from the war could be fun...

yes the game did feel a little like torture , but so was the knife throwing

they are activities and they have their place , it's like gta 4 games / dates etc

they flesh out the world

by all means add more stuff !

I like dice poker, moreso in W1. Both versions were not perfect, and you will save scum. Though i only did so to pass the quests.

I hope the news above does not mean no dice poker in 3. :(
