What’s coming in Update 2.0: Vehicle combat and car chases

+

Today, we’re taking a look at another new feature coming to the Cyberpunk 2077 base game as part of the free Update 2.0, which will be available for current-gen consoles and PCs: vehicle combat and car chases!

There are in fact three new ways to take out enemies from the safety of your car besides just running into them. Don’t get us wrong, that’s always an option — but make sure not to explode and flatline yourself!
  1. The first new option is shooting your pistols or SMGs either from the back of your motorcycle, straight through your car’s windshield, or out of its side window. In the case of cars with CrystalDome tech, you can instead open the sliding doors and shoot out that way. While on a bike, you can also now use melee weapons to attack enemies or even slice open the wheels of other cars.
  2. The next option is using the brand-new mounted weapons available on certain nomad cars that utilize the CrystalDome tech. Those gatling guns will make Swiss cheese out of anyone standing in your way!
  3. A more subtle approach to vehicle combat can be taken with the new car hacking abilities for netrunners. And by subtle, we mean you can straight-up explode other cars, make them slam the brakes, or accelerate without stopping! More options are available for the most skilled netrunners out there.
Car chases also happen more naturally now, with the NCPD actively chasing you if you try to get away — as detailed in our last article from this series or seen in our latest REDstreams episode.

With these options at your disposal, wreaking mayhem out on the streets of Night City has never been easier (or more fun).

Lets Go! Hope to get the update asap! I havent played cyberpunk for a month now...wating for update.🤙🏻🔥

"WHAT’S COMING IN UPDATE 2.0: VEHICLE COMBAT AND CAR CHASES"

Expect lotsa fun using the Let There Be Flight mod with a weaponized vehicle. Tried before to combine the Vehicle Combat mod with LTBF, but didn't work out much. Will be a snap now.

Basically almost two months of marketing based mostly on two features: police revamp and car chases.

Don't get me wrong, those are interesting to some level, but your campaign feels very repetitive.

Agreed interesting OPTION, hopefully not a forced option. It will get very annoying if any time I drive down the road I get a chance that someone will attack me. While it may be fun for others not really interested in car chases or being bothered by police randomly.

That's a valid point over there, and coming from a completely personal preference in the game, I NEVER ENGAGED WITH COPS ON PURPOSE in Cyberpunk 2077. EVER. The only times I did end up with a 1-star, that was completely by accident, and unintended. For me, that type of engagement is useless, and it doesn't bring anything to the table in my opinion. This game is not GTA.

So now the question is, just because car and police chases are front and center, will we be actually forced into those to "showcase" the new emergent gameplay? How easy is it to get into such situations? How difficult is it to get out of those situations, especially when that was completely unintended because let's be honest, most of the time that happens because of the not-so-bright AI. What's the "end game" in such a chase, which I have a feeling will ramp up pretty quickly in difficulty? Try to run and hide, while have half the city car chase you, shooting at you till you're a smoldering pile on the asphalt? Do we get anything out of it, besides frantically trying to get away?

It's just my 2 cents dropped in here, because honestly, I will NOT be the one to mess around with cops, just to see for how long I can push it before I have to reload my save.

In fairness to them, they are marketing a free addon.

Funnily enough they decided to add the two things that “haters” demanded, and the exact two things that the “lovers” of CP77 said would be unnecessary and take away from the game.
Now upon official news on this matter, you see the “lover” part of this community suddenly enjoy it.

Hmm..

Hmm..

I wanted the city to feel more alive and believable. If we get to witness those systems and others from the outside looking in, that might make the city more alive. On the other hand, if we constantly get pestered... I won't be the biggest fan.

That being said, regarding the campaign, it is just odd to constantly hear about those two systems almost exclusively. What about AI, what about interactions with the city, what about the new specs (can we see it in action with anything but a 4090), etc...

This Thursday we will have the opportunity to know more about the news.

Night City Wire is back - with a special #PhantomLiberty episode! We'll talk about new radios, learn more about Reed from Idris Elba himself, discuss gameplay & new abilities... and throw in a surprise or two. Don't miss it!

There is a good chance that they will give us patch 2.0 after the Night City Wire.

What about Delamain? Will he have guns?

can you please make clear what comes for base game and dlc ..
those 3 step describe on your OP topic have feature from dlc , perks / new weapon / new vehicules..?
or may be i 'm wrong those new vehicules/weapon 're mostly was promoted as contents be part of Phantom Liberty ..

to be honest all post from patch 2.0 its a bit confusing , both info for patch 2.0 and dlc 're mixed ..
it'll be great to have sheet with both base vs DLC features .
i can understant CDPR need to put "value" to grab the new dlc but i said we need clear statement what's coming really on base game patch 2 and Phontom liberty .

for example the new monted weapon , promotional video said this is part of DLC .. is it exclusive to dlc or its coming both as new contents both dlc and patch 2.0. ..?

I completely get this. As far as the story goes, I feel like I would have to go majorly “off-script” and break character to deliberately harm civs in order to experience a police chase. I’ve never really understood the desire for changing the police system for those types of accidents because the story doesn’t provide any rational motivation to basically go evil in the first place. I always reload an earlier save whenever I accidentally get civs hurt anyway.

That being said, I’m glad the people who wanted this have it now, but indeed, I hope it’s still easy to avoid unnecessary conflict with them.

Something worth bearing in mind though, which is something I don’t see many people talking about, is the fact that this isn’t just for the NCPD. This also applies to Militech out in the Badlands, and Barghest out in Dogtown. So while it may not make much sense for V to provoke the NCPD in the city, having the system kick in out in the Badlands surely does. Militech are actively hostile to civs so it makes sense why V might choose to kick that hornet’s nest. Presumably it’s the same with Barghest but we’ll see I guess.
