Question For the Girls

Hi everyone. I just installed the game yesterday and watched the opening scene with Geralt and his lover in their room. It was yummy, but I really wish now that we girls (women, gals, ladies, etc) could play as a female and have Geralt as our love interest. I think he is SO handsome, and I'm curious to know if others out there are feeling this way too. Plus, I wonder if the makers of the game would ever consider making a DLC that would give the player the choice to be female and be involved with Geralt? Or, maybe someday a modder could create a mod just for this purpose?

Anyway, I'd love to hear what others think about this stuff-especially the girls. : )

Thanks,

Tracy

@autumnsky38: Welcome to the forum! I suppose such kind of add-on would account to making the whole story plot from scratch. Imagine creating new reactions of NPCs, Geralt himself and so on. Which means the whole new set of voice acting, new animations and etc. It's a huge project, which to some degree is comparable to making a whole new game. So I think it's not feasible simply because of its scale.

I'm not even saying whether CDPR are interested in such approach (i.e. character customization). So far they weren't for the reference. Only early prototype of The Witcher 1 offered such choice and Geralt was an NPC there. But CDPR dropped that idea early on and Geralt became the central protagonist.

Absolutely not. I definitely wouldn't want CDPR to spend money on it, and if a modder does, fine, but I wouldn't use it. The game story just wouldn't make sense.

And Geralt is already my love-interest. One whose ass I can look at for several hundred hours as I follow him around the world.

For me it's different. I almost always play male characters because they're usually stronger emotionally and no one 'flirts' with you all the time.

I like being Geralt! And he's freaking lucky that he has 2 strong independent women who want his attention! Plus, how hot does Geralt look in his armour? I always choose the Cat armour because... HOT DAMN!

Yeah, this is my biggest problem with the game. Having to choose armour based on how sexy he looks rather than its stats. Thank goodness for appearance-swapping mods.

Possibly if CDPR make future witcher games they could add an option to create a character that is male or female. But the witcher is a story about Geralt of Rivia who is a pre defined character and the game has to follow the books.

Also games where you can choose gender and revolve around choice have to be designed that way from the ground up.

And they are seriously harder and more expensive to design properly. Most don't develop them thoroughly for each choice, which ends up in some generic approach and shallow story.

Tell me about it!!! I like the first level of the Cat armour the best where his arms are sticking out! Yumm... :) What other armour looks good? I think the wolf looks decent but it reminds me too much of what Eskel wears...

Oh yes, until he goes to Skellige and I want to wrap him up in something warm. Like a friendly little dragonbird.
I like wolf, and the early-game Nilfgaardian set, the one you can buy.

I would friggin love a Ciri game. Everything about her was awesome from story to combat.

I loved her as a character and really liked the sections you played as her, really gave the game an interesting dynamic having control of another character. It wouldn't work though unless CDPR canonized because of all the outcomes.

If there will ever be a witcher game with an option of a female protagonist it will probably be a seperate spin off story some time in the future, especially when right now there aren't any female witchers.

A Ciri game wouldn't meet the objective of having Geralt as a love interest. Ves, maybe? It would avoid contentions between the major LI's.

Anyway, I'm going to put on my moderator hat for a minute and stop drooling about Geralt's ass, and mention that there's a high probability that this thread will get merged somewhere. I'm just waiting to see if it turns into a "What we want for Witcher 4" thread or a "Geralt is sexy" thread.

I forgot about the Nilfgaard set!!! I had already played twice when that DLC came out!! He looks ridiculously good looking in that one... *drools* Might go get it to wear in my screenshots!

I see what you did there and I'm guilty of this too, no shame. Geralt fine, he can get it anytime but I don't think I'd want to play as someone who romances him. Playing as Yen would be fun but then I'd rather have a whole game playing as Ciri......and I'm getting sidetracked....

HA! I stayed with the CAT armor just so I could ogle at the poor guy. The silly things matter though.

I guess this is the same experience for girls as it is for guys who make girls in online games. The experience changes from 'being' your character to 'wanting to do naughty things' to your character.

Both can be quite fun.

EDIT: Though i should say, even as a guy if you've read/listened to the books and know the lore its definitely feels more like you're playing a part of Geralts long running adventure, not exactly you in avatar form that some other games make it turn out. Depends on how you play of course.

In proper roleplaying you aren't supposed to be your character - you should play your character. I.e. you should distinguish between OOC and IC characteristics.
