DAM!!! You beat me to it! I did not realize you like this game. I took the day off tomorrow to play. God I hope the remade blocking DOES NOT INCLUDE "recoil" or I am going to have to remake my old oblivion mod Duke Patrick NO - Recoil mod. And I heard they made the Archery more like my old Oblivion Archery mod as well so that is GREAT! I will find out for sure tonight.

I'm currently only playing with magic, I played hundreds (if not thousands) hours, but it's been a while on Xbox 360 so I can't say how much the gameplay changed. I'm so happy to return in Cyrodiil :D

I started (finally) Baldur's Gate 3. It didn't interest me enough as full priced game, but now it was in some kind of sale so I gave it a try.

Game has (for me) massive amount of things to learn and get used to and moving camera and characters is a slight annoyance, but otherwise the game seems to be very entertaining. I could see myself finishing this at least two times.

I'm still in the first map area and had few somewhat hilarius moments. Also few oopsie moments, where I might have accidentally killed way more people/creatures than I planned. Apparently I also killed one of the best characters in game. Oh well, the joys of being a new player in the series and not reading spoilers :D

Story and characters are definitely interesting! Can't wait to see where all this goes.

I played through most of the game before realized i'd entirely skipped even MEETING a popular and possibly important character, all because the game early on said "don't screw with things you're not sure about" with the levers in the ship, then presented me with "this looks dangerous" so i ignored it thinking i was being smart. Yeah that's right in my first game the poor bastard's still stuck in that magic portal at the crash site

Oh well. But yeah, like almost everyone else i am now screwing around with Oblivion lol. Tho i also have a CP77 playthrough going i switch back and forth between.

Avoiding spoilers for this long is good, well done! There's lots in store for you :D

All I remember from my original Oblivion playthrough 20 years ago is:
Holy Crap Patrick Stewart take this amulet something something Vampire Assassin

Oh no! Fortunately, you get a fairly powerful cleric/mage/something(?) in your camp pretty early. He has a natural talent for bringing back the dead, so to speak. I can't say more.

At least, they received a free key from Bethesda which is not much but still better than nothing at all :)

That's about the best that could be hoped. And kudos to Beth for acknowledging the work that was being done. Either way, Remastered has to be a really frustrating blow to the Skyblivion team.

On the upside, it doesn't seem that Bethesda really changed much about the actual gameplay besides the leveling system. Everything else seems to be mostly cosmetic -- the graphics (obviously), better impact and reactions during combat, etc. -- so there's still arguably a lot of quest design, survival mechanics, and so forth that may continue giving life to Skyblivion.

Yeah and to quote Todd :
"We want people to feel the way they did then, but it's still a game of its time. You want to keep those bones in place. You want some of that old charm"
Yes, after around dozen hours in the game, I can confirm that the game still have its "old charm", no doubt about that :giggle:

On PC, Skyblivion will be worth playing anyway :)

It sure is, if both games offer the same city models and map without adding original content. Players will maybe give Oblivion a second go, but a third? That is a stretch.

Though. From what I've seen, Oblivion Remastered doesn't offer much of a looker graphics, so that's an opportunity to seize. Whoever can.

After seeing vids of gameplay, and the disappointment of noticing same city/map models plus worse than acceptable graphics for a remake, I don't think I'll be getting the Remaster. Realism level of the graphics and much bigger cities/map would have won me over.

The graphics look good compared to the original, but they're lackluster for 2025 standards. As for the cities, the layouts are identical to the original. The largest city in Cyrodiil is about the size of a village in KCD2. But at least it's round.

Yeah, which is a shame. The map size and complexity from 2006 ages poorly into 2025.

ON PC:

Right at the start the game (Oblivion Remastered ) made me confused and angry with an error message that said I could not play the game because it required 6 logical processors and I only had 4 logical processors. But the thing is I actually have 4 cores with 8 logical processors!

Many people on the internet are getting this erroneous message as well, I wonder how many people refunded $ before realizing this was not true.

After playing all day and into the night yesterday I am still happy with my purchase but I forgot how I would NOT have any new stories.

And they have reduced the items you can pick up and throw for some strange reason. * You can no longer put things in containers !!!! I am assuming they fixed the very bad memory leak that will crash the game for dropping items into the game world as that is the only way other than selling them to get rid of inventory. And the skill books in the city book stores no longer give skill ups! At least non of the books in any of the books stores I have been to so far.

So for an Oblivion fan it will be worth the purchase... but if you have other games or other things to have fun with I will warn you that you will not play the game for the full 300 hours we I did back in 2006. To end on a high note The combat and archery is just like the combat mods I made in 2006 (GOD YES no more Block Recoil & no more arrow target magnetism at least for PC players, no more hitting with a dagger from 10 feet away.. and more ) so that is great!

* Edit: so you can put things in containers but to do so you must first pick the SEARCH command. Strange change to the container mechanics...
The critical threshold that players widely reported back then was around 10MB to 12MB for the save file size. Some anecdotal reports suggested problems started becoming significant once your save file passed ~8MB, but they got really bad around 10MB+. This usually corresponded with long playthroughs where the game had accumulated tons of data like dropped items, explored areas, and completed quests.

Mods on PC (like Wrye Bash or cleanup scripts) helped mitigate it by cleaning up bloated saves. But on console, you were kinda stuck with it once the save got too big. I think Bethesda patched it? One such mod back then that cleaned up after you was literately an invisible non sound making NPC that would pick up items you dropped and walked away from. :ROFLMAO:

Currently replaying The Witcher 1 for the third time, this time on my Steam Deck instead of my old gaming laptop.

The Steam Deck runs Witcher 1 beautifully and I can now finally play this game with max graphic settings and can appreciate the extra details, draw distances, and skyboxes, so it’s almost playing it for the first time.

On Chapter V, nearing the end, and excited after to play the Price of Neutrality and Side Effects modules before moving on to Witcher 2.

In addition to Witcher 1, am playing Fortnite and Naraka: Bladepoint here and there, as I find both those games very fun, and really love that in the latter there’s the Witcher 3 outfits for some of the characters, so it’s like playing as Yennefer, Ciri, and Triss in an alternate world.

Also hoping that Yennefer and Ciri’s bundles will return to the Fortnite Item Shop soon so I can buy them and play Fortnite as Witcher characters too.

I got Runescape: Dragonwilds as my "no brain required" game. First I thought that the game was April Fools', but then my colleague said that he had bought it, so it had to be an actual game :D

If you have played Valheim, you pretty much know how this works. Game is very similiar, but bit more Fortnight-ish graphics (and apparently bit more variety in building pieces?). With definite Runescape skills. It has been fun so far, the little I have played it with a friend. Game is still in early development, so I have no idea how much content it currently has or will eventually get, but I guess we will eventually find out.

It may not be a huge hit, but definitely not a disappointment either, if you are looking for a casual survival/builder. Me thinks.

Clair Obscure: Expedition 33

Finally something fresh and new again. Great characters, an interesting setting and a profound story premise. Alongside South of Midnight, one of the best gaming surprises this year.
I saw that on Steam yesterday, and it looked interesting.

Edit: I just installed it and played through the prologue, which is completely awesome. The writing is great, the graphics are amazing, the music is excellent. The combat seems interesting, but honestly the writing and production values are so good that I mostly just want to watch it as a movie right now.
