Cyberpunk clothes should be about functionality, blending in, being tactile, look inconspicuous but have bullet proof coating, ammo slots. It should also represent different cultures and social classes and their future clash, like some japanese fashion cultures.
It shouldn't look like your part of a 80's rock band, emo/goth,industrial youth group, or fantasy space knight.
No dude.. You are wrong.. Well, first of all, while I am all for all sorts of clothing and armor options, in Cyberpunk, it is all about "style over substance".
functionality does play a part in it, but not a huge part. It is more like, you will wear anything that you fancy. (especially if you went fbc.) It can be as colorful or as black as you may want. In Cyberpunk armor is not something that protects you from everything. It is more like in real life, if it really protects you from elements, it is heavy, uncomfortable, hard to move around and more often than not, impractical. (will slow you down) They have a bullet type for every kind of armor. So in that way, someone may choose not to wear any armor or wear a lightly armored leather jacket instead. That jacket could have a little bit of metal armor, or maybe something like this:
What I mean is, in Cyberpunk, it is possible to see any kind of outfit and armor. Having more armor is not always better. What you wear is how people will perceive you, wearing stuff like you are going in for a full blown assault (maybe unless you are a cop or Max-Tac or something) will not always help your case. Thats what I think anyway. I wish Wisdom was here, he could tell you all about it.. Or ChrisWebb2020.. Or Sard.. Ok.. maybe not Sard.. You never know with that guy..
But ... but ... I want to wear a chainmail bikini !
If chainmail bikini is what you want, chainmail bikini what you should get!
Also chainmail dress:
And chainmail shoes!
And chainmail gloves:
Because why not?
It is style over substance and it is a style... I guess..
Or maybe not..
