What amazes me about the whole Keanu affair is that they managed to keep it secret for the whole time.
I think they paid them very well to keep their mouth shut.
Also:
The most impressive part is actually how capable CDPR is at generating hype. CDPR released a trailer in 2013 for a game that they weren't making.
CDPR doesn't generate hype, they're just doing their job right.
They created a trailer in 2013 to appeal people into making the game with them (and look at how GOOD they fleshed Night City).
Then, once they're surrounded by fans working in their studios, even in the game is rude to make etc...
In the end, they're all here for the passion of it, and because they're motivated to make a freaking good game out of it (mostly because they're just as fan as we are of the franchise).
That's basicaly how you avoid your Mr-Random405 to leak shits from your game, just "because the coffee tastes like shit and we're not getting paid enough". Cyberpunk 2077 were made by fan, for fans, and you can feel it, reason why CDPR needed such a big budget, I think they do have a lot of crazy ideas but can't show them at the moment (just to keep people interested).
For the "hype" thing, it's a marketing scheme, you can saddly build hype with anything, even dog poop nowadays.
And it's understandable, it's how it goes when you're trying to sell an "artistic media", you have to generate buzz and attention.
Now, I won't pre-order it, ever, even if I find the game amazing.
Because, as "CDPR" as they are, selling me a game, 1years in advance, without telling me much than "Gimme your money and I'll maybe tell you a bit more stuff later", is closer to Activision than a company that cares about their gamer's audience (I mean, could've been delayed a bit more, not to look like a bunch of cash-grabber surfing on the hype, they could easily have done the same last year...). And then what?
The game will be delayed a bit, and people will complain "yeah, you thief, I paid for it 1year ago".... Lol.
CDPR just like anyone else, is faithfull...untill they're not (microtransaction and such? They're maybe grabbing your wallet now before anyone can complain...).
So, we will see how it goes about that.
But if the game is good and that it runs on my PC, I'll buy it for sure, but yeah... Not 1year in advance without at leat 1hour of solid gameplay (I don't even know if the RP will be New Vegas/Bloodline, or Fallout 4"s "Yes/No/Maybe".
I'm amazed by the talent and work CDPR put into this, it's exactly how we used to play it with my players, so I'm 100% behind you guys.
On another hands, don't blame me for not trusting your Marketing department, it's their job to milk us out.
