The plot pretty much picked up where the first season ended. The slow pacing stayed which I was grateful for, good character development remained too for the characters that actually remained relevant to the plot. To some of them, at least. Case in point: Richmond and Jamie line about bad luck.
The writers jolted and bounced quite a bit this season. So much in fact some questions remain unanswered. Like Richmond email address from last season - what? He just happened to have the same email as an escort service? Drexler just happens to have a drowning fetish or something, Richmond motives for committing suicide were contrived as fuck, and the prostitute confession from Season 1 about the killer, "He didn't look like a killer, but looked kinda sad." Seems to be ignored completely.
Linden character remained non-existent, and self-entitled as ever. No, you can't arrest people without evidence or based on your hunches. Stop. Trying.
The only depth her character had flew out of the window in the psych ward where she sat in front of the psychiatrist and talked about her mother leaving her and then it just disappeared, "Hey doc, linden is free to go."
What the fuck? Who allowed this jackass to enter the room?
It would've explained why her character is so fucking obsessed. It's been over 20 episodes and she still doesn't have a motive. And If you're going to be obssesed about something, at least be good about it. Geez louise, Holder got all his leads right this season.
Speaking of Holder's character, he was kinda dragged to the sidelines. We didn't see too much of his character this season.
Stan was pretty much useless to the plot at the early episodes, turned fascinating mid season, downhill, and up again when Mitch returned home.
Mitch's character... To sum up her character: "I don't care about anything. I just want to feel sad."
So I called it about Jamie and Terry. This show does like to invert every plot point it got. Especially true this season. The camera was never very interested in these two, compared to others.
Jamie motives I understand perfectly well, Terry on the other hand had very weak motives.
"I didn't know..." Seriously? What was the point of this scene? To show women can do things men don't? Either way, her intervention was comically stupid.
Jamie plan was cheesy but I guess it worked. I don't understand why Jamie had to pick up the gun. He didn't kill anyone - with his mouth, and his connections he could've probably gotten away with it.
I understand next Season we'll have a new killer. Hopefully he will be more fleshed out. And Linden will have some character, by then.
To sum it all up: Inconsistent quality. Writing definitely took a dive.
