most RTS games are pretty bad with a controller, RTS are intended to be played with m+k because they often have more inputs than a controller is capable, unless its a really simple RTS gamehave hard time getting how people are able to accurately use a controller in ”fast paced” point’n click oriented games (like FPS’ or strategy games).
also I never said I use a controller for RTS, what I said was:
I've played many types of shooters and RTS games, both with controllers and m+k... for RTS i would only use a controller in single player mode, but never online... with shooters it depends on the game, Ive played many shooters with a controller including ResidentEvil and GearsofWar, both in co-op and competitive modes... obviously a mouse is "easier" as I have said numerous times, but its also less fun especially for a single player game and m+k is only necessary if you are playing competitively and need an extra advantage. Ive played a LOT of shooters in my life, and out of all the shooters i played theres very few which are more fun when played with a mouse IMO. Its like playing paintball with a lasertag gun what would be the point? the controller is more immersive because you are pulling triggers instead of clicking a mouse, which do you think is more interesting for a non-competitive story-driven game with open world driving elements?this is a single player game, not a competitive multiplayer game, Im sure it wont be very challenging to shoot NPCs
also this game has a lot of driving, and non-shooting elements too so... yea Im not going to play this game hunched over a keyboard at a desk, Id rather sit back on my couch and relax in front of a big screen TVI can’t, for the life of me, get it working in a way that would not be clumsy and uncomfortable. I seriously suck at it. Racing games are where it works fine, though.
and if you think controllers add to the difficulty, well yeah but once you get used to them and you dont have to think about it as much, then it actually starts to feel relatively natural like pulling the trigger of an actual gun (sort of if you use your imagination a little, except without motion support)
