I've been playing for the past 3 years on this machine. I've been able to play the latest graphical demanding games on medium/high.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+4GB RAMIntel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz (no overclocking)What do you guys think? Will TW2 play smoothly on medium? Thanks in advance :)
Medium is a good guess; I think you might even get better. The 9800 GTX+ was the best of the G92 cards (except for the SLI-on-a-stick GX2) and is still formidable, especially in texture-heavy applications. Even though the E8400 is only two cores, it's fast and uses its large (6MB) L2 cache very effectively.
That's what I was hoping for! Thank you :)

@Guy N'wahAs I said previously that my GPU is a 450GTS and you mentioned it was the "weak link" what upgrade would you recommend that's under 200$? I had my eye in the GTX550ti as the performance price ratio is very good.As I said before in this thread I haveIntel Corei7 920 @ 2.67 GHz12GB RAMnVidia 450GTSEDIT: I use this chart also to help compare these cards http://www.geforce.com/#/Hardware/GPUs/geforce-gtx-550ti/performance

Even by nVidia's own charts, the 550ti is not a huge improvement over the 450, or all that close to the 460. In independent tests, it comes in between the 450 and the 460, about what you'd expect. But you can do better for the same price. The 460SE is good value, if you favor nVidia; it's a step up in performance from the original 460 and a step down in price. It is also easier to integrate, because it is lower-power and physically smaller. If I were getting a new nVidia card, I would look specifically for one of these.Newegg has it as low as $139.99 after MIR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130591

For those wondering if your computer can run it, this is a good website to check. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/

No, that site is crap. I've dealt for years with people who have panicked after being told by that site that they couldn't run a game, or who have gotten angry when told by that site that they could and it turns out they can't.

That site's almost totally random.According to it I can't run it with my 6750 Mobility. But after asking on here and doing more research I'm 99.9% sure I'll have no problems running it, just not sure how much detail I'll get.I find this site to be a little more accurate. Damn.An interesting setup, to say at least. Great CPU, very weak GPU and absurd amount of memory. 4-6GB should be more than enough for gaming.

Yes very, I think I wanted to squeeze every bit off of that GPU since the current games that I play are Team Fortress 2, World of Warcraft, etc..So I was able to run those games ultra with no problems.Since then I have upgraded to a nVidia 460GTX SE 1GB which will surely help bring it up to ultra with 20 FPS at least (enough for me) So my final PC isintel corei7 @2.67GHznVidia 460GTX SE12GB RAMWith the amount of RAM, I hope I'm ready for future gaming :p

You can even add in another 460 in SLI at a later stage if you need to. You should be fine with maxing the game as it utilizes the i7's hyper-threading capabilites to take stress off the GPU. ENJOY!

Hoping to be able to play the game with pretty much everything maxed at 2560x1600 with 4x AA and 8x AF.Core i7 2600K @ 3.8GHz2x Radeon 6970 Crossfire16GB RAM

Y'enjoy shooting flies with a Gatling gun much?Seriously, if anything could max the game out twice over, that rig could. The only reservation I have is that we do not know how it will perform in Crossfire.

Hi!I'm building a new system for TW2. Do you think with this I will be able to max it in 1920x1080?Core i5 2500 (quad core 3.3 ghz)Geforce GTX 460 1gb4gb ramThe rest isn't important so I'll spare you the model of my power supply ;)Cheers!

Yep, with slower systems than that people have been able to max it so you should be good to go :)

I'll be playing with:AMD Athlon 2 X4 6308 Gigs MemGigabyte Radeon HD6850 (default is overclocked compared to reference design)1600x900 ResolutionNot sure what kind of setting I will be able to play at. Seems like since I play at a low resolution of 1600x900 I can usually get more graphical features in then people with a similar system but playing at 1920x1080/1200

The 6850 is a pretty powerful card and combine that with your quad core processor and I'd say you'd have no problems running on high and perhaps even Ultra settings. Granted, your quad core processor isn't the fastest one out there but it should still be sufficient.

Looks like you are right, according to http://www.yougamers.com/gameometer/10454/ It says I should have no problem playing at high visual settings.

Hi guys, i've been looking at getting The Witcher 2 but i've never played games on my laptop. I was wondering if anyone could confirm that it will run smoothly on my system? This is a link to a page with my laptops system informationhttp://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5083833/Trail/searchtext%3EMSI.htm#pdpFullProductInformationCheers Guys

Well, with respect to the minimum system requirements, the processor seems a bit light to me. I remember Celeron processors being stripped down versions of fully-functional processors. I don't know if that has changed. Everything else meets/exceeds the minimum requirements. So, I'd say your laptop can run TW2. I don't know how "smoothly" though. For your reference, below are the system requirements...MinimumWindows XP/Vista/7, processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or similar AMD 1 GB RAM for Windows XP, 2 GB RAM for Windows Vista and 7, Nvidia GF 8800 512 VR or similar ATI, 16 GB HDD spaceRecommendedWindows XP/Vista/7, processor: Quad Core Intel or similar AMD, 3 GB RAM for Windows XP, 4 GB RAM for Windows Vista and 7, Nvidia GF 260 1GB or ATI HD4850 1GB, 16 GB HDD space

This is a Witcher 2 question, but this is the Witcher 1 tech forum, so don't be surprised if a moderator moves this. It's below minimum spec; whether it's far enough below minimum to make the game unplayable, we don't know. Your CPU is technically below minimum, but only by 10% or so. The graphics card is the greater problem; the Mobility 5450 is something like 1/4 of the stated minimum. We just don't know yet how well the game will play on 80-shader AMD/ATI chips or 16-shader nVidia chips. It could be OK on minimum, or it could turn into a slideshow.
