The little things...
Where do we stand on 'the little things'? The sorts of things that most games ignore or just assume we do at some point.
Things like sleep, eating, drinking and crimping one off.
Most people in 2020 have a 21-22 hour day and use sleep inducers and stimulants to cope with the changes in their sleeping pattern.
Do we want a sleep mechanic included in 2077? Should our characters need to sleep? If they don't sleep, should they be penalised in some way, via fatigue or some other in game effect? I personally think that making our characters get a few hours now and again would be a good thing. Forcing us, and our companions to get a little shut eye would provide another layer of immersion, as well as giving us a good reason to procure a safe bed for the night, (thus providing another small cash sink, along with ammo and parts and labour for repairs.)
Everyone needs to eat. It's why I refer to food as the universal language. Yet I only remember STALKER requiring your character to eat, (though I may be wrong.) These days, food is looked at as some sort of buff or healing mechanic. I think that sucks balls. I want to see our character eating meals, even if its just grabbing a kibble bar on the go. In 2020, I made sure players ate at least semi-regularly and if they didnt it messed with any skill roll involving any form of concentration. The same applies to drinking non-alcoholic beverages. Booze on the other hand should be a social action. Whats the point in having a drink in current videogames? It just messes with your UI and costs you money! Now if you used booze as a socialising tool, having a few beers with your team or a prospective associate/employer/target could have interesting results!
All this being said, I don't think we need to watch our character take a dump to preserve immersion. I'll draw the line there.
