It's sad (and well done by CDPR) that you only see how much Yen feels for Geralt when it's too late. She has way more feeling if she loses him than if she keeps him!

But ain't that like it is in real life too? THAT'S the real statement for how well CDPR did that!

AND, it should gut-punch the player when he breaks it off with Yen...no easy out for you sir! I was pretty upset when I sent Triss packing and had to hear about it from of all folks, Dijkstra!

Maybe this is one of the reasons we are so hung up on Triss, her entire arc was about losing her forever.

I completely agree with you. The Novigrad quests with Triss were some of my favorite moments of the game. Their interactions were very well written, and CDPR really nailed the facial expressions throughout the game. Probably one of the big reasons there's so much emotional attachment to the characters, they very much felt real.

Triss's romance arc definitely wasn't an afterthought, at least not in Novigrad. However, after Novigrad it's just a problem because 1) You go so long before you see her again if you do Skellige after Novigrad since there's probably some 40+ hours of content in between Triss appearances, and 2) When you do see her again, it's not like the act like lovers except for the beautiful mirror fountain scene, and 3) There really isn't any indication among the other characters through dialogue about the choice you made.

^^^This!^^^ They made a brilliant story with Triss in Novigrad, then failed to follow-through with it for the rest of the game!

I would have chosen her anyway..
Its just her super cute personality and being selfless on a very high level. Rather helping others with knowing she could get caught than being selfish. I love that. And no matter if it is an goodbye forever or just for a short time. As you noticed even if she is there at skellige we want her to be alive.

I really loved the feelings when she was about to disappear.. It almost broke my heart.

Curse this game and it's highly emotional scenes (joking, joking), now i can't stop thinking about them. Also rejecting Yen just sucks but letting Triss go sucks just as much if not more ...ahh decisions..decisions. :(

Also 520 votes in our favor, great job to those that voted :)

Triss > Yen. I will give her a couple of months and she will find another one :p

it shall be fun when it reaches thousand votes, that is if the thread doesn't reach a cap.

Its quite something how fans can band together when it comes to certain issues, particularly mai waifus.:smoke:

Not so much banding together as expressing wishes for the game. This is fairly representative of opinion, as opposed to a petition. All a petition tends to be is a long list of people signing their name to a complaint. This is a constructive discussion to find what the community wants for changes or additions, including the representation in the poll of those who don't care.

So, we know more than what people want. We know what portion of people want it.

That how Yen rolls :)

one thousand votes - now that is a milestone CDPR can't ignore. The fans that come on here to vote and contribute to the discussion (like you guys) are the best. When it comes to Triss, accept no substitutes! :)

It's so satisfying to read the books and know that Triss eventually is going to get the man she deserves. XD

Gimme a month and I will start with the first book!

Hopefully I wont change my mind and go for Yen after reading them lol

Does Triss actually stays with Geralt in the books? If so i might give it a chance and read the books, mostly i don't read books at all, but i will make this one exception if Triss stays with Geralt, otherwise no point in reading the books for me.

That is not what he meant ...

Also... mate, read books... I mean... why not...
:(

Also not how the books end. You already know how they end. It is stated in the Witcher 1,2 and 3...

Why not. Would basically just switch sides in a fair but strange internet debate. Does not make this thread less valid.

i asked for the diverse story line between triss and yen after the djinn for a few reasons..

1) they have cannoned yen into the story so you feel bad to break it off with her as the player the disappointment she feels is heart breaking ..where with triss its get on the boat and cya sweety!! the end!! sure i get to see you a few more times but meh its over!!

2) theres no clear reason why triss can't help with the curse and other quests leading up to the battle and after ..

3) with this being the end of geralts story it would make to my understanding a clear choice that my choice was triss and i want to move forward with triss !!

4) clearly you don't choose out of the 2 loves of your life and still hang out with the one you didn't choose!! where here you did while triss got kicked to the curb apart from 1 scene!!

im not saying that yen should be completely pushed into the ( well? dialog ) triss got because of her vested interest BUT i really feel RED has seemed to tack triss in there as a after thought thinking we will force players to choose yen as the cannon choice ..

i will even state it again when you get back to KM with ciri if you choose triss yen gives you a really nice kiss in front of ciri and triss ( like cop that triss you bitch ) to me that made me feel worse about choosing triss over yen.. where as if you choose yen no kiss!!

i think RED made a bit of a boo boo with triss here and underestimated what i will dub TRISS POWER!! you can't have her vested so much in 2 previous games and go and kick her to the curb in the 3rd by bringing in 1 character that we really know very little about game wise!!

P.S. i am really impressed with the amount of posts and ideas to give triss more loving (not literally although i wouldn't say no:)) within the game she needs more a lot more and i hope this thread will continue to push on and push RED to give us more triss !!

I been left alone to think...lord knows I should be writing, it is my evening hour for that BUT, here I am on this damn board thinking about the game that could have been and I hope can eventually be.

I have read a LOT of folks on here that all seem to point to the DETAIL and extraordinary stories from the early Acts of this story; The Ladies of the Woods, The Baron, The Tower of Rats...this is just to name only a few!. Then you get to Novigrad and you get into what I think might have been the best written area with the best variety of things to do...AND you get to quest with Triss!!!

After the completion of all that goodness, I ended on a very sad note and headed off into Skillega. Is this the beginning of Act 2? I will call it that for simplicities sake. The first 1/3 of Act 2 was almost as good as any in Novigrad...LOTS of time spent with Yen, the King's Wake, investigating the explosion site, dealing with the dead dude that ALMOST got to tap Ciri...you'd forgotten about that didn't ya...The Last Wish and then it all culminated with taking UMA back to Kaer Morhen. There, if you and Yen are a thing, you get several powerful moments with her...the Triss 'thing' is discussed at last...and its the ONLY time I think...the makeup sex and THEN the drinking scene. (god I hope I got all that in the correct order)...

I went through ALL that to point out, that's about the halfway point of the story(I think) and my experience is with the Yen romance so take this for what its worth. But that is the last place where I can say the story feels 'correct' or 'right'. The pacing changed, the dialog options for Yen was weak, there were few opportunities to build on the relationship choice(especially tough on the Triss choosing folk) and it seemed like, instead of Geralt running down the path toward the end...the path was the one moving! He was was just trying to keep it under his boots!

SO...here is where I get all stupid...

You have a story that seems to build from the beginning, getting better and better upto about the 50-65% mark...then...the last 30% or so is sloppy in comparison. There are exceptions, the BIG three going to investigate the sage's laboratory, that was a great short run but because it was the only top notch story in the later stages, it makes the parts around it look even more dull!

Well, I have taken too much of your time and I am sorry...writing is how I vent...but I told you all that to ask this question:

Do you think if CDPR is 100% happy with how the game/story plays out OR do you think they would have preferred to postpone TW3 again?

There is meaning to my madness, I swear and I will explain if anyone bites...Thanks for reading this far!

Without saying too much, chances are you will still prefer whoever you preferred in the games.

Minor spoilers of course; they do seem to love each other (Triss absolutely adores Geralt...far more than Yen does) and they spend a lot of time together in some of the books but ultimately Geralt goes back to Yen, most likely because of the spell that binds them. It made breaking the Djinn spell all the more satisfying because it makes it feel like Triss was his true love all along and she can finally be with him for good if that's the choice you make in the game.

The books are heavily biased to Yen being Geralt's love, Triss isn't as prevalent in the books, and Geralt won't sleep with her (except for that one time), so the books don't give Triss the love she gets in the game series.

Thanks for your input , when i get time exactly in the summer after my exams i will make sure to read the books :)
