The Witcher 2 wishlist

Now that TW2 has its own forums I thought it would be nice to have a wishlist here. The game is maybe 1 year away from release so they probably have the core game done all ready so let's just post stuff that would be nice to be changed in the sequel from the first game. And please don't turn this into another Geralt's face whine thread, there is all ready a thread for that. Post stuff that bugged you in first game and you would like to see an improvement in the sequel.Good OP goes first.- More character models. TW1 had fair amount of character models but A LOT of them were recycled. I'm not saying every NPC should look different but at least would be nice to see all the important people look unique and different from the rest of the people. Good example is Declan Leuvaarden who played a fairly big part in the game, especially in CH3 yet he looked same as every other merchant in the game.- Kalkstein! Would love to see Kalkstein in the sequel even if it's only briefly. I thought he was a brilliant character and when I first met him in the inn of CH1 I thought he was kinda silly and annoying but over time I started to like him more and more.- Other Witchers. In TW1 you met Lambert, Eskel, Vesemir and Leo (briefly). But that was only in the prologue, after that they were nowhere to be seen which is understandable since they split up but not even after the game was told that what the other Witcher were up to or if they're even still alive. It would be just nice that they would at least in the sequel tell us what's going on with the other Witchers.- Replaying chapters. One thing that really annoyed me in TW1 was that when the game ends... well it's over. Which is understandable considering the plot, a lot changes so it's hard to go back to the old areas. But it would've been nice to at least have a chapter select screen to go back and replay some of our favorite chapters of the game.- Less drowners. Drowners to me were like the Cliff Racers of The Witcher. If anyone's played Morrowind they know what I'm talking about. They are everywhere and they are just annoying. Not because they're hard to kill but in the swamp for example they were everywhere so it was hard to do anything since most actions are restricted in combat and even worse in the Swamp Cemetery it was hard to enter the caves with drowners up your ass all the time. That was all for now :peace:

I agree with all your points, ESPECIALLY with the last one, although I would broaden it a bit. No hordes of monsters! It contradicts the lore and it gets boring very quickly. The Witcher is no Diablo.

Greetings to everyoneJust to state my opinion about what i've seen so far in the new Witcher and what I would like to see new in itI like the new graphics and "open" world mapFrom what I've seen so far regarding the combat, I was not impressed with it I like the combat in TW1, although time sync was a little off... In TW2 I was hoping the devs will keep this time based combat, but improve time synchronization and add new features into it (like for example, targeting specific parts of the enemys body, new and complex combos etc)Alchemy and signs are also the big part of TW combat, but i haven't seen any of those (except some kind of a ring that stuns the enemys) ... I hope to see more potions and expanded potion creating system (more secondary effects; Albedo, Rubedo, Nigredo)As for the sings, I do like the idea of combining offensive or defensive combat styles with singsI like the idea of "quick reaction conversation", but i do not like scraped sentences (like the one in Mass Effect). I wanna know what my char will sayI would like to see all the features that were in TW1 just expanded .. more complex ... not scraped or dumbed down

The witchers are becoming more and more scarce in the TW universe, so I wouldn't count too much on thrid point :). As for the rest - replaying chapters idea seems interesting.

1. I hope there is an open world map, at least to some degree. Its really integral to RPG's to allow the player considerable freedom, and openworld does this.2. A day/night cycle. Maybe this has already been confirmed. 3. Free, fan made DLC, like the first one. It would be great if the game supported post release content.

Well it will be somewhat open as they said if you attempt to go into the forest first you may have a tough time due to the difficulty of the enemies in there.

Other Witchers - do you mean other persons than the Witchers we met in the prologue or still Lambert, Eskel, Vesemir and Leo?I would welcome when other Witchers (those from Kaer Morhen) are more involved in the gamestory, play a more important part, accompany Geralt on a few missions. That's why I like 'Price of Neutrality' where other Witcher are more involved in the story... :hmmm: actually they are main characters ;D

Yes I meant the other Witchers from Kaer Morhen. I'm interested in what they're doing :)

Guys please make the skill system work this time. In The Witcher we got a lot of useless skills, not to mention the signs which were completely useless, exept for igni and ard. TW skill system looked big and complex but it was pretty much an iliussion. :-\

I must say i enjoyed the first witcher very much, it was the first RPG that succeeded to pull me away from the strategy genre.Probably a hidden wish to get closer to the action ;DTrailers for TW2 are extraordinary in my opinion specially all being in game action and that. And now with the wishes:1.Plants - when you see a lovely bush full of flowers and you get one or rarely two of it it's a little bit frustrating.More flowers would encourage to experiment more with potions and easily adapt between fights by changing oils and active potions.I understand they might be part of a quest and this could make the quest easier but a balance could still be found. Ingredient Extraction could matter more.I know some plants are extremely rare like wolfsbane, but the player could be rewarded for exploring, you could find a stretch of grass (with a beautiful waterfall, a fireplace) in the forestwith such plants and would be nice if you could visit it anytime in the game along with the dangers that come with adventuring.A way find out the name of the things we discovered through "choking experiments" by talking with someone...Regarding gifts. It would be a big effort i know, but it would be great for the immersion in the game to see a necklace on the desk and take it, a nice canary and when you give it to someoneto see it in the room, a bush of roses in a garden. I wouldn't mind if i could steal some roses sometimes ;).Alltough i think you started something like that seeing the elf in the trailer took the sword directly from the table and used it also walking around with that potion bottle.2.Drops from common creatures - logical drops should have 100% chance like ghoul's blood, beast fangs if i am not equipped with a mace and i crushed its head already ;D.3.Some quests could increase your standing with merchants, people.A free room, a free snack at the inn, make some a little more forgiving when selling or buying, some exclusive deals, in TW1 you get 20% from the selling value at merchants. There is some variation but i still feel ripped of when selling, maybe that's the thing you wanted the witcher to receive no recognition for his deeds him to be seen with fear, distrust and contempt but this can't be 100% true.4.Looting - i can't take more than 4 weapons on me at anytime, i left countless times things worth a lot more than 100 orens on the floorafter big fights. :( ...and it was important for me as i wasn't a successful gambler.5.Could i pleeaaase cheat at "dice poker" followed then by a full blown bar fight with bottles, chairs on the other guy's head? Only if i get caught of course ;D.A duel only is fine for me too but in this case i would like to choose if i kill him or not, nobody should die for few orens.6.Regarding gifts i wonder if a ghoul's shrunken head in a jar would be too much for an alchemist to win his favor, maybe a new formula :D.7.@Brag as i remember during the day you could get around with ease. Also you were given the choice of purchasing the red ribbon a drowner-repeller 400 oren, garlic, rattle, pouch of salt at some point in the game. For me it seems perfectly reasonable to be ambushed at night if i run without caring in a very dangerous zone. ;DAnd i immmmmensely enjoyed it like that, i played with talismans just to see how they work and then i stopped using them. But that's me and i bet i am not that unique ;D.8.regarding what POWAZ said, i must admit i only used aard and igni too. The other ones where unlocked later in the gamewhen we already planned to put points in styles and aard. As i look back axii the charmer sign would have been quite useful.PS. I didn't notice any ring because they all wear gloves, i wonder did you add that? And for those who don't like ambushes to give them a way to combine the effects of two talismans for a price of course ;).(Such talisman could be useful for Triss if we get control of her.)And for the hardcore an antirepeller, an attracter of some kind ;D.Anyway after all this nagging, i know you put your heart into making the first game and most certainly in the next one tooand that will be seen in the final product. And i'm done.

No no no, Geralt is no corpse looter, the only time he looted something were those boots of a marauder I think. :D I hope they keep the old looting system.

Yes, he only takes the money ;D.

My wishlist regarding essentially Battle System, for the other things, I wanna bu surprised by the team :) I don't want destroy English, so I will speak fast ;D More importance for Alchemy. I must need to use Alchemy. In the first game, I choose normal difficult, and never need to use alchemy. Boss was the most problem about the first The Witcher. The game has a good difficult set to hard, but the presence of the beast, and other bad situation (example: when you go inside a hut and enemies hit you before you can do something, it is unfair and stupid! ) force me to switch normal. So, this time, good boss or nothing (but trailer and videos suggest that you're working hard on it ). I saw that Triss help Geralt at the begininng. Fire Friend must be activated, more damage for enemies for sure. I am thinking about Fallout 3: I really appreciated the combact system of The Witcher, can you give the choice to ours?I really don't want an action battle system, I wanna a system based upon my skills like the classic rpg. Please, don't turn the game into an action game like Devil May Cry. The first game was a good compromise. Thanks for the attention, Viva The Witcher!

Some very good ideas out there brother, though I wouldn't be myself if I didn't have a few reservations. Alchemy. Yeah I'd like to see more focus put on that. Perhaps even introducing a separate skill tree. In the first game we could put up to five ingredients to brew a potion. Why not have up to say twelve of them, more with further advancement. Of course more reagents would require more specialised apparatus to brew a potion to the point you would have to visit an alchemist to use his/her equipment. There were also reagents that could add extra effects to your potion. I wish we could develop it further - introducing reagents that allow to combine effects of two different potions in one, boost different abilities (e.g.strength, dodge) along the normal effect etc. You could also keep alchemy more true to the books by linking toxicity with magical abilities. What I mean here is why not reduce physical abilities as usual, but improve the power of signs in exchange.Combat. One thing I liked about the Witcher combat is that you could rarely rush into battle in diablo style - it was a sure recipe for failure. At least on hard difficulty, you had to dodge, jump around your opponent use a variety of signs, styles, potions to be successful. Its major downside was that the semi-turnbased nature -the actions you take had to be made exactly at the right time- often when you dodged it turned out the the foe's strike hit you though the animation showed sth different. And yeah it could get very repetetive especially on lower levels, when you saw the same attack over and over again. Plus, most of greases for blades as well as bombs were pretty much useless if you went with a standard built. A short digression: on my fourth playthrough so as to increase difficulty I used silver sword against humans and steel blade against supernatural enemies, The difference was most pronunced - my enjoyment improved 100%.. I really had to take advantage of every item I had on me - suddenly all these different types of greases, plus a stash of previously unused potions made sense in the context. For that reason, I believe that toying with the damage output of weapons is a good idea to improve the system. Also, I don't think that separating combat abilities into two trees for silver and steel swords makes sense. For one thing, in Witcher I, player felt compelled to pursue both paths simultaneously as without doing so he/she was put against enormous disadvantage when fighting certain types of creatures. Secondly, this kind of separation defies common sense. Why, on earth, a heavily armoured monsters like kikimores receive more damage from supposedly easy to get broken silver sword than two-handed wield bastard. Why not implement separate skill trees for bastard-swords (old-steel blades) and broadswords (old-silver blades). That way a player could focus one type of build and experience the advantages offered by the other one on subsequent playthroughs, while still being able to you silver or steel weapons (two or one handed respectively). I would also permit for greater choice of builds eg, dual-wielding.Lastly, let me say that I don't think I like the direction the combat is going. What I mean here is that on the videos from Gamecorner we can see Geralt jumping around, tumbling lke a drunk ape while reaping his enemies apart etc. Somehow it got more repetetive than the previous implementation of combat after just 15 seconds. I know, I know it is but only early alpha version of the game, no need to worry. Yet, I feel I'm here soul and body with Darrosquall. Geralt should not follow Dante's footsteps and become mob killing machine. Scarcer enemies with interesting abilities (vide the beast) would do the trick I suppose.Sorry for the overlongish post. Hope the other guys (and ladies, of course) on the forums will like my suggestions. Feel invited to comment on and criticise themCheerio! :DP.S. Here's the link for those of you who haven't seen the gameplay video. Be warned. Suggestion: 3 secs delay before atack or automatic pause before ambush on normal difficulty.@ Mrowakus :Anyways: 12 ingredients bring how many possible combinations ? my math is rusty but i guess it goes over a few million results, right? :)... just talkin' here...Thank you for the link.On the sword stuff i believe he could wield a sword coated in silver which could be used with both types of enemies humanoids and monsters. But they are telling a story, in that story the witcher kills monsters with a silver sword. ;D

I think a tiny little bit of stealth would be nice. Every here and there you come upon an enemy who isn't yet aware of your presence. If you could just creep up behind and perform a quick kill, that would be awesome. It could easily fit under dexterity as a silver or gold talent, and since a lot of enemies stumble upon you (as opposed to you stumbling upon them), it wouldn't be too unbalancing. Also, some sort of ranged option would be nice, although I haven't read the books, so I don't know what Sapkowski's stance on witchers with bows is. Even just an extended-range Igni would be nice, though.

Sorry, tired i guess, i forgot there is no loading time now when you enter houses so theoretically if you open a door you should see who's in the room.(source leaked video, gaming articles)The boss fights ( the beast was a boss as i remember) should be tougher than the other fights in my humble opinion.

1/Keep nights as dark as TW 12/ More useful signs instead of just Aard and Igni3/ Climbing over obstacles, but please no jumping4/ Corpses shouldn't turn in to heaps of meats and bones in 10 seconds, right?5/ More cities, towns, villages, whatever.6/ Better inventory7/ Signs combination? Perhaps like Dragon Age spell combo8/ As mentioned before - more NPC models9/ Better cutscenes [Mass Effect 2, anyone?].

My wishlist is quite simple:1. Make the athmosphere as good as in the first game. I'm quite confident in visuals now. But I still haven't heard any official in-game music. The soundtrack for the first game was a masterpiece. I really wish you guys invite Adam Skorupa again to score the game. He did a great job to create the athmo for the first one.2. Full-length answers. I can't imagine a good RPG using the shortened "idea-of-an-answer" phrases. The thing is, I spend even more time guessing what does this short phrase mean, instead of reading the full sentence. And translation of this MassEffectish dialogues is quite an issue: even if the original shortened phrases may describe the full answer well, the translation misses the point in many cases. So, please, CDPR, do a normal PC game. Not the Nu-gen dumbed-down action console thing. You can do that, everyone knows that.At least, make it as an option for us, hadcore RPG and Witcher fans :)3. Make combat tactical, let us pause it at least to make decisions. I know, combat in the first game was quite an issue for many people, but I personally liked it very much. It was a good balance of real-time action and tactical decisions.4. Different camera modes. I like the closed-up over-the-shoulder view, but I totally dislike the camera shaking a-la Mass Effect. It makes sea-sick, you know. So, at least I would like to switch that off. If it's possible, I really would appreciate the option to zoom out the camera, especially in combat.5. Do not turn it into an eternal slash-fest. The swamp area in the Witcher was terrible with it's not obvious paths and the rain. And when it was accompanied by the hords of drowners, it made me wish to stop playing it. Also, Dragon Age was kinda screwed by enormous slash-fest areas. It's a very annoying thing. And the last but not the least that sums up many of my wishes: Please, don't fix what's not broken! ;) Faces of main heroes, dialogues, music etc.
