The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - An Open Letter

Dear Gamers,
Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game. We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe.

The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.

With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.

We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust.

Thank you for the all support you show us on a daily basis. We truly do appreciate it. It has fueled us in our passion since the start and will continue to do so.

I'm died inside me.
But...if this is needed to make the game more polished and better...well, I don't have any right to complain about it. Good luck and good work CDP.

So they really have problems and the rumors about technical issues and crunch time and stuff were at least party true. Well, if that means that the game will be released in a better state I'm ok with it.

May 19th? ...
Is it bad this makes me happy? CDPR you guys take as much time as you need to make an amazing game, I will be happy to wait a little longer if the final product is brilliant.

Aaaaaand anyway I wasn't going to be able to play it until Easter so if it comes out on May 19th I should have finished most of my exams \o/ woop I'll be playing the Witcher 3 over the summer holidays!!

I'm with you! CDPR, take your time, it will be much better than the buggy messes that other studios are sending out the door!

At this point I dont know... It really looks like they are having problems finishing this game, they already promised us that february release date wont be moved again, and here it is. This + new trailer + neogaf insider, future looks bleak.

Thanks for not releasing a half finished game, at least. More publishers should be like this.

Hope it's gonna be alright.

I registered just to say that I'm extremely relieved by this decision. Both of The Witcher games hold up as my favorite RPG's and I expect no less from TW3.

Take all the time you need, CDPR!

Again sad and happy at the same time. Still I think it's a good move.
Not only there is more time to finish things up, but also the team doesn't have to work overtime all week.

Take your time! Make the game you feel comfortable to release out in the world.

I guess this is one of the benefits of not being dependent of a big publisher.
