Vista - Crashing problem

+
Did you buy the EE retail version of the game or did you have the original version of the Witcher and upgrade it to TWEE via the net? If you bought the retail version of TWEE in the store you should not have downloaded anything except the hot fix for EAX if you are having problems with EAX as the patch is only for those who bought the original version of the game and are upgrading to TWEE

Did you download any patches for the game besides the EAX quick fix? If you did then this may be your problem. There is no need to patch the retail version of the game.As far as I know other the blood hot fix and the EAX hot fix

Hmmmm thats strange because I copied and pasted the email address in your profile to my email so you should be getting it soon. I will send another tonight when I get home unle you let me know you have recieved it.

I just bought the game yesterday, I installed it, and as once I tried to boot it for the first time I got the message from Microsoft saying that it stopped responding, I looked around the web, tried various tips to get it working, I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, apply some of those same tips, such as the EAX hotfix, eventually I gave up, I tried the 640 x 480 res, windows xp SP2 and run as admin compatibly and it worked once last night, I turn off my computer, go to bed, wake up, try to boot it up and I'm getting the same problem, I checked and the compatibility 640 x 480 res, windows xp SP2 and run as admin and it won't work this time, I've tried loading up the witcher.exe since I try to load it up from the games folder in the vista start up menu and it won't even attempt to load it when I click launch the game in the menu that pops up since I don't get a crashing message or anything. I'm running the patch 1.4.5.1280, The witcher Enhanced Edition, Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and it's definitely not because my hardware isn't powerful enough, I attached a report from PC wizard. Any help is appreciated, I got this game to have some fun for once during spring break and so far all this game which is suppose to be pretty good from what I've heard has been doing nothing but giving me a headache lol.

I bought the game recently and upgraded to EE. After playing through the prolouge i got to the inn and this is where the crashing started. I can play the game from anywhere between 10 seconds and 2 minutes.. Have not been able to play the game for over 2 months and was about an hour in and really enjoying it. The sound will loop and all signal to the monitor is lost, the system is completly unresponsive and i have to reboot. I have increased the memory allocation, run in windowed mode, updated windows, EAX fix, updated ALL my drivers. turned off account control, run in compaitability mode and as an admin. No luck :(I have posted here before and the just gave up. After reading the book i'm determined to get this working.I've attached my PCWizard report and uploaded my save game here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mmzmh2d21d2Thanks

do attach the file ERRLOG.TXT from The Witcher/System folder

Uninstalled and reinstalled, applied the hotfix and blood pack only, won't boot and there is no ERRLOG.TXT in my sytem folder for the witcher or any folder in the witcher directory.

I hate this patch. I've waited forever for my computer to be fixed so that I could play this game with patch installed and then this "The Witcher is not responding" crap happens. I hate this.

No it does not crash to desktop. I have Original game + Patch. Can you please try the save game i earlier posted to see if it works. The game only crashes in that area. When you go outside the gate and Ms Vessa or whatever she is called is about to get raped.

Thanks, but unfortunatly i had the same problem. I'm going to try a full re-install (deleting registry entries as well) and see if that helps. In the mean time any other ideas?

Hey, guys im trying to patch now, and i got to the window when it says "Modifying game files. This may take up to 2 hours. Manually interrupting this process will necessiate re-installation of the game" But it says that it isnt responding, should i just leave the window as it is or do i have to close it and re-install ? :whistle:NVM i got it to work with some fixing :p Thanks for this thread though, it helped me alot, i appreciate your hard work ! :teeth:
