Sexual cut scenes, prostitutes and whore houses will be able to be avoided?

It's funny how people never ask if the blood and killing scenes can be avoided.

Last throws of the prudish, theistic-conservative establishment. Violence is good, sex is bad. ;) It'll pass, it just takes some time longer in certain places... Funny that most fantasy and scifie settings feature worlds where stuff like that is much less of n issues then it is in the real world.

OK this has made me rather curious.

To be honest, its like asking for no violence in an action film. o_O

It is kind of part of what the game is, so to ask for it to be avoidable, is just rather odd.

Well, with all due respect, it's a bit unfair to compare The Witcher games to porn. You don't see any penetration, ejaculation or such. It's more something in-between the love-scenes that were in 80's action movies and an erotic film. Nothing more toxic for a teenager than Highlander or Dances With Wolves, I would say. Or anything he could find by himself ont he internet. And definitely less toxic than The Passion of the Christ (but then I admit I am very biased on that one).

I don't think CDPR I trying to arouse us and use sex to sell games. If anything, the M rating hurts their sales more than anything else. They just consider sexuality to be a normal and constitutive part of humanity and inter-relationships, and hence doesn't shy from depicting it in their games. It was done in a funny but silly manner in TW1, but much more tastefully in TW2, and I have no doubt it will be even better in TW3.

In the end... the game is rated mature, that's as simple as that. If you dislike that kind of gory/sexy stuff or think your teenager can't take it, that's your call. Everybody's different. But that's definitely int he game. Even if as a character you avoid sex you will probably be witness to stuff you may find disturbing (hell, some of it is even in a trailer).

But i still dont get it, seeing a sex scene in a movie/game is not comparable to watching porn.

But yeah you should be able to just skip them.

Whenever my sister (early 30's) hears about Game of Thrones, she immediately associates it with porn. How she made that connection when she does not watch it, i dont know. Social media perhaps? Maybe seen bits and pieces, but the point is, she drew a line from Game of Thrones to actual pornography. /shrug

That's HBO for you... I still remember what people said when the first season of True Blood was done. ;)

As far as games go: There are actual porn games out there (most of them horrible), but CDPR handled the subject very good in the poast, far better in fact then, say, BioWare. Games have such broad possibilities these days, it should no longer be a problem in an ADULT game to handle every adult topic equally.

To be fair, the terms (rather than genre titles) 'pornographic', 'adult', 'mature', 'obscene', and even 'violent', or 'gory' can carry slightly, or considerably different connotations for different people. Meaning is not as unified as we may like to think, and often some people will have varied understandings, and associations with a term, based upon their experiences, preferences, or sensitivities.

I think sex is an important part of the world of the Witcher, which gives it a certain feel and defines the characters and their relationships. When we think of Geralt and Yennefer, one of things that comes to mind is passionate love making. That's an important part of their relationship.
But at the same time there is much more to the world and characters within the world. Geralt's love for Ciri and their father-daughter relationship, Vesemir and Geralt's father-son relationship, Geralt's brother like relationship with Eskel and Lambert, Geralt's relationship and loyalty to his friends, Dandelion's man crush and admiration for Geralt, Witchers being hated and treated like outcasts, the issue of racism, and so forth.
So if someone does not like the sexual aspect of the games or books, then there is much more to the world. We should not criticize someone for their beliefs and preferences, and we should not discourage them from getting into the rich world of the Witcher.

Sorry to say it OP, but you might want to go play other games.. if the rendering images of human naked bodies offend you? @misho8723 lol..
I agree, this is a Witcher game we are talking about. Mature lore and content (whether it's books or games) is the major reason why these series are so amazing and popular. If you want them out you will probably might wanna check some other games.

AFAIK you can skip every cutscene by just spamming mouse1 if you don't want to see them, NOBODY IS FORCED TO WATCH THEM. But if you are planning on buying this game for your son etc. he will watch them as you can't disable them beforehand.

Thanks for your reply, this is all I was trying to find out. I wasn't trying to start a content debate.
To the other commentators, Im almost 40, have 4 kids and have been married a long while.....body parts dont "scare" as some very young men who obviously have accounts here have suggested. I venture to guess I've been around the block, as it were, several times more than they have.
At this point in my life I have different preferences as to what I set before my eyes(......as does my wife who simply tolerates my gaming hobby as it is......without bottoms and boobs on my monitor).
So If I can skip all " The Notebook" fluff and stick to exploring and monster hunting I may just get this game.
FYI.... for those who are gonna continue to rage at me.....just becuase.....do it to me, TheOnlyDoor, and not to the OP, he is a friend who was just asking a question for me before I made an account here.
Cheers all.

I wouldn't count on it that there will be only nudity during cutscenes.
"[...] , rooms with several corpses (e.g., hanging from the ceiling, covered in blood on a bed, naked in a tub)."- extract from the esrb rating.

Furthermore there will be brothels and bathhouses and we will probably have to visit them during quests.
As an example: There is some nudity in this screen and this is very likely a mainquest.

Ps: I think it's ridiculous to have a problem with the nudity but not with the very brutal combat.
i don't think Witcher is the right game for you.

So in a nutshell, you can avoid whoring, but you may not be able to avoid whorehouses and other displays of nudity, but those should amount to a very limited playtime*. Any actual sex activity occuring on screen though is likely to be in a cutscene, and therefore skippable. It might be a problem if the scene contains important dialogues or plot points but there should be a summary in the journal.

*And if your wife is in the room at those rare moments you should be able to turn the camera toward the ground or ceiling ;) (just kidding of course)

avoiding nudity in the game wont be an easy task....

To be honest, I do not see the problem with nudity.

You say you are 40, have 4 kids and a wife.
In that age you personally shouldn't have a problem with nudity.
Your wife should have no problem with that as well.
Your kids (based on their age) should either have no problem with it (16+) or be kept away from the screen.

It's simple. You can personally play this game, you can direct your character and tell him what to do. Should there be cutscenes with surprising sex or nudity scenes (and someone who shouldn't see them is in the room) you can skip them, should you have to talk to someone and suspect such a scene you can prepare for that and either skip or look if someone is around who shouldn't see (or lock the door if you need to). If you have to go into a brothel or bathhouse you can do the same.

There is only one single reason that I would understand why you would not be able to tolerate this nudity, and that is if you are a very religious person.
Other than that there should not be a reason.

If you personally have psychological issues with such a display of nudity you shouldn't play the game.
If you think your children are too young there is ways to keep them from seeing it (hell this game does have manual saves, if it is really so important and a situation occurs in which someone who shouldn't see might see it simply shut down the monitor and then turn your PC off. Once this person is gone restart the PC and load the last save).
If you wife has a problem with the nudity you should seriously talk to her about it, because I personally believe if someone has problems with such a display of nudity, but is fine with any kind of violence and dismemberment it is not healthy at all.

It's JUST SKIN after all, and all humans look the same on a basic level. Women have boobs and vag*nas, men have a penis and everyone has skin and hair and muscles. I don't see the problem.

Just saying. Not raging or anything. I'm just trying to say it makes no sense. There is a solution for everything. If it's because of you, try to resolve your issues, if it's because of your wife try to talk to her, if it's because of your kids just try to keep it away from them and be mindful when playing then nothing bad should happen.

If it's because of religion, well, I can't change that and I respect it, you can probably skip most full nudity and all sex scenes, most sex scenes can be avoided anyway I think.

I personally think that seeing a woman or even a man (which seems to be even more of a tabu) naked in a movie or a game is not bad. And it does not HAVE to be arousing or sexually exciting in any way. In fact I often find myself watch such scenes and - when not being in the mood for anything sexual - still admiring the aesthetic nature and composition of the cinematic without having sexual feelings.

Just a word from me. Again, I'm not raging, just trying to have a civil discussion and offer my POV here.
